What to do with Old Bike Tubes.

Using only hand tools, I take some old bike tubes and recycle them into a new bar stool! All the cedar was either dead or was from helping my friend clear his property. No glue, screws, or nails were used in this process. Everything is held together by wood or the tension in the tubes. Watch this full tutorial so you can do this yourself!

Great video, awesome stool build, great music, good vibe, relaxed. as for all the comments about bare feet I have to say it, let it be, Seth is doing his thing, I think it's cool, a friend of mine goes running in the snow with bare feet, it's fine, people are so programed. besides, could it be he is just comfortable and grounding at the same time doing what he loves. so don't worry about bare feet, it's not a big deal. I'm bare foot 99% of waking time.

I reckon it would be less wobbly if you used some diagonals to brace it. Though I'm not sure what the joinery would look like for those pieces...

Nice build! Any reason why you saw the wedge slots instead of just splitting the tenon with a knife? I only have experience with making handles for tools and we always do it that way. Also, why not use your own music? It's good! :)
@franklee6301
@franklee6301 2 года назад
I'd wager the material removed by the saw means you can use a larger wedge which would be more visible on a large piece such as a stool.
@BackyardTrailBuilds
@BackyardTrailBuilds 2 года назад
Definitely what Doug said, though that wasn't my original intent. But mainly so I dont break the tenon! haha these suckers were about 3 inches long so I didn't wanna rely on the grain pattern to split nicely down the middle. Plus I want to be able to drive the wedge nice and deep so that it doesn't come out.
