Excellent video and great choice of pieces to analyze! I’ve always loved how Copland uses the strings in Appalachian Spring. How about a video on how to write interesting viola parts? Mine tend to end up as boring fillers of harmony.

Thanks! I saved a lot of time on this one by using recordings instead of my own mockups!

Brilliant video as always Alex... I really like ex. 5 where Violins II harmonize between Violin I in octaves, never seen this very much in scores. Keep this kind of video coming they are very much appreciated. Kind regards and many blessings, MaxT

Perfectly! Excellent examples and explanations. Tell me, is this the sound of mockups? Which libraries have you used? (especially interested in strings, but also brass and woodwind too)

Only the first section of the video uses samples (Berlin Strings). The rest of the video uses recordings of orchestral performances. I only wish I could get mockups to sound that real!

WHat violin library were you using in your examples?
@AlexHeppelmann

I think I used a combination of Berlin Strings and Spitfire Appassionata strings here
