I'm down to eating one meal a day. I feel better than ever and my strength in the gym is at my Max potential. I was bulked out a couple of months back at 196 lbs, now I'm down to 180 with the same strength and a much better basketball game.
Been eating OMAD keto for two months now. Am in ketosis constantly. Only drink salted water during fasting. All my health problems have gone. No more pain. Dropped 18 kilos so far and had my first training session at the gym today. Feeling like a new man. I am 51. Oh yeh I also quit smokes and alcohol was a heavy user of both.
I am an 80 yr old man and follow a keto diet and OMAD . I eat at 11am a low carb meal of meat with a large salald. I work out with 8 lb dumbbells and streching ect. For 30 min. And then walk 4.5 miles. I have improved my arthritis and feel good. Love your videos.
God bless you for your encouraging words. I am ready to embark on this keto, IF regiment starting 9/1/2021. Have some fears, especially around giving up alcohol which I am definitely addicted to but posts such as yours arm me with courage! 😃
I admire how you discipline a healthy lifestyle, I'm 59 yo now soon turned 60, praying to the Lord to pass the test of 1 meal a day. Thanks sharing your experience. Watching from zamboanga Philippines
How do you manage dairy free and sustain the fat required to replace carbs in keto? I eat a ton of dairy but I'm starting to think I need to cut right back
Jack Lalanne had a dairy free diet. He ate raw vegetables, raw fruits, oatmeal, whole grains, soy-milk, brown rice, eggs, fish, only healthy foods NO ADDED SUGAR...he also worked out 7 days a week. You are doing the right thing for your body. The fact that you regularly workout everyday is fantastic. It is really something everybody should do. Exercise 6 or 7 days a week as best as you can. People will be happier and healthier. Your body will look and feel like it should, looking and feeling as best as possible. We should all be doing this.
To me the best is the fact that once I'm done for the day I don't think abt food for 23 hrs. Before food was ALWAYS on my mind, couldn't stop thinking about it. Plus fewer dishes, of course and more time for myself😊
I have been eating OMAD (one meal a day) for awhile and love it. I am saving money and have found out I can tell when I am truly hungry and not just eating because I am bored.
Totally agree Susan. I've been doing it for YEARS and so has my Mother. I'm 64 and she's 97. Neither of us is on any medication of any kind or overweight. It's normal for us.
Most of time we confused thirsty with hunger bucause is the same feeling and we dont know that because we think that being thirsty is only when u feel dry but is not like that....like when we wake up in the morning u feel hungry but u drink water and hunger feeling goes away ..thats when u know ur body wanted water and not food...excuse my english
I have been doing keto for years, then I naturally started eating less as I got fat adapted. I have been doing OMAD for the last 8 months and it’s great I don’t have to worry about packing food for work or worry about looking for quality food while I’m out. Also if it comes to a social family event I just switch my eating window it’s so easy to do and I’m saving so much money which enables me to buy better quality food.
LordStanley I always eat at around 4pm on a Work day as I have been up since 5 am so go to bed early . On my days off work if my friends want lunch or I’m going out with family I eat at any time of the day but just once . Life is for living I don’t want to miss out on family time x
@@celine401 Thanks Sheila. We have very similar schedules. So, I assume you do not eat at work, but when you get home from work. My starts around 445. Thanks again.
LordStanley no I never eat at work! I have a very active job and I feel more energised on an empty stomach. I use my crock pot a lot of the time and usually have a meal waiting for me when I get in.
@@celine401 That is great. I did that this past week at work. Felt odd. But, I will start it as well and just adjust the window when need be. Great correspondinf with you. Thanks again.
Omading for 6 weeks now, down 16 pounds. Feel great, I think I found my lifestyle, I don't feel hungry, and I allow myself a non keto meal once a week. I love fasting! Thanks Dr. 🙏
I first watched this video on 7/1/21 and decided to try OMAD for weight loss and insulin resistance. I haven't been completely strict but tried to be diligent. I'm 60 and started at 205, and today (8/30/21) I hit my goal of 170, which is my 25 BMI weight! Thanks Dr. Sten!
@@hafizmuizz7269 I tried to stay away from sugary things, but I still mostly ate what I wanted. I think the important thing is to only eat that one meal per day.
I'm 48 and lost 70 pounds on OMAD in 8 months. Now at 18 months I am in constant ketosis and autophagy during the day when most active. Congrats on the loss!
A friend I know does OMAD Monday to Friday and then on Sat and Sun has a larger eating window such as 18 hr fast 6 hour eating window. I think this may help people who may want to have a bit more flexibility on the weekend.
I have a friend that does this as well. But I do better with OMAD everyday when I went off track on weekends it was like torture trying to get back on the wagon on Monday LOL 😂
I grew up on Twinkies and fast food in the 60s; On my own, late teens, SF, I lived on LSD, Wonder Bread, margarine and grape jelly sandwiches and occasional dandelions picked out of peoples' yards. In my 30s after college, with a bit of an income, I started exploring cooking and enjoyed a bunch of high carb Mexican food in the 80s. Yummy! Then came the yoyo dieting through the 90s to 2015. But I didn't really know about any of THIS until I was 65. I had a lot of advanced Biochemistry classes but nobody at Temple Medical School had real nutrition classes back in those days. It's a miracle that at 70 I'm still alive! My biggest fear is Diabetes type III (dementia.) My poor mom, after a lifetime on the Standard American Diet (SAD), lost her last 30 years to insulin resistance, pre-diabetes, full-blown dementia, always on statins and blood pressure meds and experimental Alzheimer drugs, dying finally at age 74 of a AAA, after 10 years of forgetfulness. I just hope it's not too late for me. So far...6 months now, 40 pounds lighter (20 to go), so good. Fingers crossed and coming alive again slowly but surely. I only wished I had known all this at age 30! I could have saved my mother's life!
Hey Doc! I did my first week of Intermittent Fasting with One meal a day and I lost 9 lbs in ONE week. I have been doing Keto for the last 6 weeks and I started eating twice a day and gradually once a day! Wow! This is amazing! And no bloating no PMS no inflammation. Amazing!!!!
Less than an hour?!! How would any meal take an hour to eat. It would have to be an awfully large plate to hold enough food for me to take an hour to eat.
If you don’t eat all day your stomach shrinks, it does take me nearly an hour to eat my plate of thai green curry with veg and salmon. Average size bowl. In addition Proteins feel extremely filling and have a rich texture and you perceive the food differently through your tastebuds. Hope that helps explain it. It is real:-)
@@joeshmoe7967 My 1 meal is 1lb of 85/15 beef .. 6 eggs .. bag of steamed vegetables .. fruit smoothie ( avocado, berries, whole milk, full fat yogurt ) .. it takes me 1.5hrs
OMAD breakfast. Eggs, steak, liver, etc Cup of Bone broth around noon. Bulletproof coffee in the evening. No grains, breads, pastas. Down 70 pounds...230 to 160.
You are an inspiration Dr Ekberg !! I have been on OMAD for 2 months. Lost 15 lbs and more importantly 4 inches on my stomach. This is now a lifestyle change.
I’ve been overweight pretty much my whole life. I have numerous health issues that come with it as well. I can’t tell you how grateful I am that you would take the time to share this information. It is literally worth it’s weight in GOLD to me. THANK YOU!!!!!!!
I have been doing intermittent fasting 18-6 with low carb high fat diet for more than a year. From last two months, I do 2 OMAD in a week. I had a lot of benefits like 1. Reversal of diabetes completely 2. Latest Homa IR is 1.3 3. HbA1C 5.0 4. Lost 8 kg in weight 5. Reduced my BP meds to half 6. Feel full of energy throughout the day 7. No sugar cravings and hunger Credit goes to Dr. Eric Berg and Dr. Ekberg both.
@@farhadjawhar4055 hey i actually lost 16kg in 3months. Im now out of keto and omad since im doing resistance training. I gained around 8kg back but mostly muscle and after i lost all 16kg i wasn’t feeling very good because i was too thin.
It has taken me 7 months to lose 82 pounds of body weight and I'm still settled on two meals per day 18:6 However, I have occasionally pushed this to 20:4 and on the three or four occasions where my weight-loss has 'got stuck', I've jolted it by doing one meal for that one day. I now feel completely in control. My weight is exactly where it was forty years ago and it feels like I have a switch that allows me to turn it up or down whenever I please. This is breakthrough stuff!
@@satanshamamotra1652 Hi, the only exercise I did/do is 30 minutes walking every day. I can only give you an example of what I eat. For breakfast, I'll have a two egg omelette with melted cheese on top. I also have 6 rashers of bacon with that. It's very filling. Sometimes I'll make my own Keto muffins using almond flour, egg and melted butter. Once again, I melt cheese on top of these. For dinner, I'll have a flatbread - which I male myself from coconut and almond flour, with 'meat' and broccoli or sprouts. All of the recipes were derived from RU-vid videos. I only eat two meals and have done since August 2020. When I was eating three meals, I would normally do something of a snack, involving cheese, avocado and or bacon. Oh, peanut butter too. Basically, I kept the fat high, so that I never got hungry - I never do get hungry to this day. Hope this helps.
Update - as my original comment was from three months ago - my weight has now dropped from 313 pounds to 208 pounds, so 105 pounds drop in ten months. I am thankful.
@@satanshamamotra1652 After about two weeks, I hadn't lost any weight, but I felt that my clothes were more loose and my skin felt like it was tightening to my body. After about 3 or 4 weeks of fasting, the weight started falling fast.
I have been off insulin for 65 days after five years of daily insulin. I use blood testing for ketosis and blood sugar twice a day. I have lost 70 lbs in the last three months. I water fasted first for 40 days sand lost 57 pounds, starting at 287 pounds. Using OMAD I stayed the same weight for 16 days before heading lower in weight. Today I am 130 in blood sugar and 2.1 in ketosis through blood meter testing. My weight goal is 192 and today I am around 215 lbs. I am never hungry like I have been in the past, I have had no blood sugar crash for 3 months, and my energy levels are high. My fat bombs and bulletproof coffee makes it easy to navigate my fasting days, omad days and 4 hour window eating days. I have never been more confident in my nutritional lifestyle…. Thank you!
Dr Ekberg, thank you for all your work. I'm a 68 years old retired woman and I've always listened to many good holistic doctors in Polish and English but I like the way you explain how the body works and what to do to help it get healthier the most. I did most of the healthy lifestyle things before I started listening to your channel but now, since I understand it better, I do it better and the result is that I feel and look better, too. A big hug and thank you!
I'm on day three of OMAD before this I was on a 10am or 12noon time to 6pm. My A1c has gone down from 8.4 to 6.1. My weight has down down from 291lbs to 251 lbs my height is 6'2". My goal is to weigh 182 lbs. Thanks Dr for this training. I will follow your suggestion for 30 says on OMAD, and then review where I am.
I have been following your advice for a while now and recently decided to fully work up to then commit to the OMAD diet. I have to say it works great and i honestly feel better than i have in my entire life. Thank you so much for these videos, they have changed my life!
Thanks for the video! You are by far my favorite Keto expert. You explain things in a perfect way to comprehend. I always learn something new from your videos and get reinforced on the things I already know. You have helped me tremendously. Keep up the good work, Doctor.
Another great video taking a complex question and making it easy to understand. I started keto a few weeks ago after a ketoacidosis event (Type 1 Diabetic) and have moved to OMAD. After a few days, it now seems normal - no hunger during the fasting periods and lots of energy! Thanks so much for making keto easy to understand!
Thank you so much for this information, I definitely don’t want to shock or hurt my body any more than all the abuse from the last 18 years! I started IF 5 weeks ago basically 1 meal a day and a late afternoon cup of yogurt and have lost 13 lbs. i’m slightly overweight but doing this to prevent type 2 diabetes. I was eating out a lot more and just not feeling well. My family has type 2 and I am doing everything I can to avoid it. I walk around all day at my job and bicycle when the weather permits. The benefits of a longer fast will help for sure and this was just what I needed. Thank you very much for helping me and all of us have a better quality of life. ❤️✌️
I started the Atkins about 3 weeks ago. Although I lose a lot of weight so far from 206 to 189. I was feeling too full. So on my own I started fasting and eat just one meal a day. Which made me feel better and more energetic.
I do OMAD three times a week and 20/4the rest just having a good keto breakfast and lunch. I’ve honestly never felt better mentally and the weight loss around the belly is a added bonus
Hi Dr Ekberg, I am a sereve psoriasis patient for the past 20years. I started Keto Diet Months ago and I implemented IF 16:8 for a month. Lately, I am practicing OMAD. Ever since then, My skin condition get 80% healed! Thank you so much for sharing so many informations about health. I learned so much from watching your videos.
Thanks Doc, this was brilliant. Day 6 of a 7 day water fast. No problem. I was motivated to do this by your "Don't eat for five days" video and I did it. I'm not hungry at all, feel great, inflammation is down a lot and I'm looking forward to easing back into an OMAD lifestyle and then transition to 2MAD once I hit my weight goal - no medical conditions prior to doing fast, or now. I recommended your videos twice this week, you're the best!
I just started about a month ago. I have multiple serious health problems. I feel I've been given another chance at life. I signed up for exercises and it is going great. This has to be the best kept secret on this planet. Thanks!
Thanks Dr Ekberg. OMAD works. I have lost almost 20 pounds in a month. No exercise. I actually feel like exercising for the first time in decades. My gut feels great. No more bloating and gas. Some days I weigh less at night than in the morning. I didn't do keto but minimize my carbs to less than 20% of my meals. 10 more pounds I'll hit my target weight from 30 years ago. It's now time to tone some muscle. I went years eating at least 4-5k calories a day and should have been 600 pounds and diabetic. Fortunately I was blessed with something that it never got that bad.
I’m almost at a year of OMAD. I used to eat six meals a day, you know, like the “experts” said to. If I missed a meal back then I would get panicked after a while and end up binging. I haven’t had that problem since I started OMAD.
Just starting. Thank you for the guidance. I will consider becoming a paid member. For the time being, I never thought a 24 hour fast would be so easy. I feel calm, sharp, and focused. This is really unbelievable. I guess all those organized religions were on to something after all with their fasting rituals.
This is my 5th day of OMAD. Ketosis kicked in last night and I was up whizzing 5 times in 7 hours. I lost 4 lbs from all the whizzing. So far I am not really hungry until mealtime arrives. Thank you for all you do.
I’m fasting for about 40 days now. Started at 16/8 than 18/6 than 19/5 than 19/5 with an odd 24+ a week now I feel ready for OMAD. I’m so fat adaptares that I feel like I could go three days easily without eating anything. I’m happy with the control I have over my hunger. I love this channel and I love how well I’m doing
Thank you so much I loose weight 50 lbs in 100 days fr 215 to 165 but now almost 120 days fr 215 to 155 almost 60 lbs .by doing 2meal a day 2 months then 1meal a day for 2 months.finally after 25 yrs of being overweight.
Struggled with severe IBS problems for last 10 years. started Intermittent fasting a year ago. I am on OMAD for 3 month and do a 48h fast once or 2ice a month. all IBS problems are gone. lost 12kg (I was a gym going, healthy eating man for years so 12 kg for me is A LOT). feeling healthier and my mind is more clear. actually I'm so comfy in my skin that I think I'll be on OMAD for the rest of my life! many thanks to Dr Ekberg for sharing all this knowledge.
@@mrbrianhendricks2486 24 hours is a breeze for me, although i dont exercise, and i didnt go through the stage of cutting time windows, just went straight to 24hrs fast. im a 22 yr old 360lbs guy
For months Ive experimented with many things to see what works best for me and it has evolved into OMAD. Down 45 lbs from my heaviest at 307, at least 45 more to go
Just concluded a 16 day water only fast today in which I lost 18.5 lbs; last month (Dec '21) I was on a vegetarian diet where I lost 5.5 lbs for a total of 24 lbs in 7 weeks. I'm down from 204.6 to 180.6. My energy is up, pain and stiffness gone, I'm sleeping better and my clothes fit comfortably - I was at the point of either losing weight or buying an entirely new and larger wardrobe. Now I plan on doing Keto on a 4/20 hour split for 90 days to get rid of the last of my belly and return to all the strenuous yard work I did 5 years ago, managing our 16 acres, that became near impossible. 20 pounds to go - 54 is starting to feel good!
Dr Ekberg and Dr Jason Fung, you are a blessing to us...On our sixth month Intermittent Fasting/No sugar now...Doing OMAD once a week. We are forever grateful of your untiring health advocacy for humanity!
I've been doing OMAD for about two years and I can't stress enough the importance of getting those electrolytes throughout the day. It makes for a much more pleasant experience. Primarly sodium, potassium and magnesium.
@@naocas367 Hi Naomi. I take Potassium bitartrate (Cream of Tartar, a byproduct of winemaking, for potassium). Magnesium Malate for magnesium and just regular table salt for sodium.
Excellent video. I especially appreciated the lack of hard and fast rules, and the understanding that what works for one person might not suit another. OMAD is difficult in a family, especially if you are the food preparer. Shortening the eating window to 6 hours is more doable. One other benefit you don't mention is how delicious food tastes! I eat slowly and savor each bite. Thanks again, I find your speaking pace to be very nice.
Thank you aliyahsky1. I really appreciate your feedback and so glad you liked it. The greatest compliment you can give is to help us help more people by sharing the videos.
very thankfull that i started following you. really making progress here and achieving my weight loss goals. thank you very much for sharing your knowledge.
Kind of sad that MONEY has to play into Americans' diet decisions. After all...we are by far the richest country that has ever existed on planet Earth. Every American should be able to eat a varied and delicious diet of high quality, sustainable, natural food and fresh, pure water. It's a pity that COST must play into our decisions.
Patti then try here in HK, organic food is way much more expensive, if you see the price here, you’ll be ok with price in US. Every time we travel to somewhere and found local organic food with reasonable price, we will eat all organic food during trip.
I just started my OMAD after a five day fast. I have alcoholic fatty liver from liking beer too much and I am 63 years old now. I quit the beer from an on and off thing to totally quitting it a few months ago. I have a belly like a small pumpkin. I really like the idea of OMAD and can do it easily and start eating a salad with maybe some Mackerel in tomato sauce poured over it from a can and coconut oil and Braggs apple cider vinegar. I know that canned food is not the best but I live in Thailand now for the past twenty years and moved here from Boulder, CO and they don't have a lot of organic shops in Nakhon Sawan. Boulder had so many giant supermarkets of health food and that was only organic but not here. I would like to lose twenty pounds but like you say there is no real quick way so I certainly will take the slow healthy path. Thank you so much for all your great videos that I have watched about ten and they are very precise in your educating style, Peace, and love to a long happy life!!!
I've had type 2 diabetes for 5 years. My weight is low, with a high metabolism, and I'm always busy working hard. Not to mention poor (impoverished). Bless you, Dr. Sten.
I love IF. I’m practicing OMAD now in my 2ndweek. Love the lifestyle easy on the body, feels great. Thank you Dr Ekberg. I’m watching your channel every night . Once again THANK a billion Dr
Always enjoy watching your video clips as they are informative and instructive. What is more, they are really good to help me with my weight loss. Thank you so much!!
Thank you Jenny Gibbons. I really appreciate your feedback and so glad you liked it. The greatest compliment you can give is to help us help more people by sharing the videos.
I really like OMAD! So easy and not a lot of cooking-makes it an easy day! Thank you Dr. Ekberg for validating the BP coffee and the OMAD; a perfect day!!
Thank you so much for yor videos. I started on IF mid Jan and I've lost about 1 stone + my gut issues are slowly becoming less troublesome. I have a lot of issues in my family with diabetes so I started this journey trying to reduce my risk. I feel loads better eating wholefoods - nothing processed and the weight loss is a side effect of just being mindful of what I eat as well as the IF. I'm about to try OMAD now as I'm now fat adapted so I think it won't be so tough. Hopefully I'll get back to my normal weight from 5 years ago with my weight gain & insulin resistance a thing of the past. So grateful for your work - :)
Finally something that works. I've tried all sorts of diets and work out routines over the years, but either it didn't work or was it was hard to maintain for whatever reason. This is the only thing that has worked this far. I wasn't looking to lose a lot of weight but just general toning and thin my waist, face and such. I went from 150 to 135 in about 1 month and a half and have been easily able to maintain that. I eat a large brunch around 2pm consisting of ground pork, shallots, mushrooms, broccoli, garlic, tomatoes and green chilis. I often season it with smoked paprika, thyme, sage, rosemary, chili powder and salt & pepper. I brown the sausage first with some olive oil, add the rest to the pan on medium, adding some butter (if needed) until everything is cooked. When finished, I like to add some full fat plain Greek yogurt (like Chobani) or sour cream to it. Now that I've reached my desired weight I'm more comfortable with relaxing on snacks, so an English muffin here and there in the evening is okay where it wasn't before. Carbs aren't generally part of my diet though and I limit my intake. The first couple days were hard to get used to but it is way easier after that. e: Thank you! :-)
Thank you Twinkle Bumahit. I really appreciate your feedback and so glad that you liked it. The purpose of my channel is to explain things better than other channels and help people understand the principles. Comments like yours makes it all worthwhile.
I had an idea that I was under stress but I had no idea how much until March of 2019. By late October of 2020 I was in terrible stress. I had an epiphany & left most things behind & moved to be near my daughter in Ypsilanti Mi. Stress went way down. I kept eating the same foods & meds. Was prescribed more meds. Then I saw your posts. You made sense. I began to follow your food & fasting regime about 9d ago. I also paused all ills of any kind. This morning my B/P was 116/93. I was so surprised I wanted to tell you what happened.
This is so helpful to finally understand how to use OMAD therapeutically. Thanks for bringing in balance to this approach as well as how to balance macros. So many fasting programs say not to have a diet mentality considering macros but they will not have as much success. With gratitude.
