Danielle Cortney I'm thinking about moving have been for a year, I have family there! I'm the type who love to hike and bike and the outdoors! I'm from SC
I moved to Phoenix from Miami, FL two and a half years ago and I could not be happier. It's way easier to get a job, way cheaper, the roads are easier to drive through, and the weather is not as humid. I also love that the people are more conservative and are not all up in your face. Some people complain about the people being "dry" and "boring" but I don't see that. They are quieter but once you get to know them they are good-hearted. People in Florida are loud, annoying, stupid, and crass compared to here. Not to mention all the nasty New Yorkers we have to deal with in Florida. I love that so many people from the Midwest live here too and not too many from New York, although lately the NYers are pouring into Arizona, ugh. The education system here is way better. Now as for the cons beware that there is a lot of property crime here and crime in general is a problem. Be careful where you choose to buy or rent here. The rule is you get what you pay for. Do not rent very cheap apartments because those are full of people who have been through the system and are not the nicest, eg druggies, dealers, mentally unstable, hookers, what have you. There are LOTS of people in this city who have drug problems as well. Also the 3 months of summer are not for the faint of heart. It does get very hot. Other than that if you work hard you can move up here and live in a nice place with LOTS to do and just a short drive from such awesome places like LA, San Diego, and Vegas, or you can go to Salt Lake City or Idaho for a weekend getaway. GOOD LUCK!
I've lived in Arizona for 33 years now and definitely ready to move! But don't get me wrong, people love it here if you're not from here ha ha. If I could recommend any city to move to it would be Gilbert Arizona. It's probably the cleanest and most family friendly city there is. Downtown Gilbert is the new Scottsdale FYI! Several new restaurants and bars on Gilbert Road. If you like clean roads, new restaurants and strip malls, fast food restaurants, brand-new houses that all look the same and the sun in your face all day… This is the place for you! You could easily get a three bedroom two bath, 1800 square-foot house with the three car garage and a pool for $280,000 in Gilbert. Not bad right!?!?
after watching 113 of your videos, mostly vlog, I've decided you guys rock. Lol. I'm doing a business/ living/permecultural garden on my plot myself. thanks for the videos. always good to see another person's thoughts and learning process.
Breanna Harris Yeah, it gets pretty scorching some days, haha. I love the weather in AZ though. No snow or disasters is the main reason I moved there. 😁👌
50+ year old native Arizonan here (Phoenix area), welcome to Arizona and good video. Thanks for defending dry heat, it IS REAL. What I tell people is that if you can get through July and August (heat plus humidity) you've got it made. Even July and August can be a wild card and decent for periods of time depending on whether we get rain. Also there's some good stuff to see in the southern part of the state, lots more saguaro cacti in the Tucson area and further south.
I've decided to move to AZ within the next year. I just visited there last week, my fifth trip there in about 10 years. Your video gave some insight. I won't be moving there with a car, which is why I'm likely to settle down in Tempe until I'm situated and then move into Phoenix. I just need a smaller city, or community, to settle into first before moving into the big city.
NWguy That sounds good. It'll be easier to commute in Tempe. Lots of areas where everything is in walking/biking distance. Especially near the colleges.
I appreciate all the time you took to make this video. I maybe moving to Arizona due to a job transfer and i know nothing about arizona or places to visit or food which is served their. Your video helped me alot.
HellaCrayyVlogs my job will be located either in Glendale or Scottsdale. Any suggestions on places to live? Would like to live where I work to avoid commute especially since I won't be too familiar with the area yet. Looking to rent the first year.
The more budget friendly areas of Scottsdale are probably South Scottsdale and the Arcadia area. I'm not too sure about Glendale since I haven't been in that area too much.
+HellaCrayyVlogs Hahaha it will happen dude. Needed to push the reset button in my life. Only got 2 friends out there. Need a new environment. Last year alone I visit AZ a few times and loved it. So it's gonna be a new experience for me.
+Sergio Flores It's been good so far. A lot of people complain of the heat, but it's not that bad. Of course there's days when the sun is out more than others, but other than that, it's been cool so far. I don't see my self moving away anytime soon. The only thing that bothers me a bit are the drivers here, but I think I explained that in the vid, lol. They're so careless. If I come up with anything, I'll let ya know.
Thanks for this video man, I am also from Milwaukee and Im moving to Arizona in a week, this will be a big change for me, but I am definitely up for the challenge and new lifestyle.
CieraMariee SAVE YOURSELF DONT MOVE HERE ITS BORING AND HOT ARIZONA IS JUST THE STATE OF INTROVERTS WE DONT GO OUTSIDE UNLESS WE SWIM AND IT REACHES 122 FRICKIN DEGREES I WANT TO MOVE TO CALI AND WE HAVE WEIRD NAMES FOR STORMS LIKE HABOOB AND MONSOON
I have lived in AZ for about 8yrs and I love it. I lived in the Midwest for yrs. hated the cold and the parking in the winter is terrible also driving. I'll visit other places but my home is here in the good old AZ. area:)
Small world, lol. You definitely should. Milwaukee has been getting more horrible by the day. You're gonna feel a lot more free when you move. It's beautiful here in AZ
@@LifeWitSed yes it was just a shooting down the street from my house the other day! I’m over it if I could leave right now i would. I have to finish up my internship and I just started applying to therapist positions the other day. Wish me luck! I hope I get a call back 🤞🏽
I heard part of the reason there are so many accidents in the Phoenix area is because of the grid layout of the roads. They are very wide and straight and people tend to drive faster than if the roads were more narrow and winding. People still need to drive more careful.
Could be. Seems like more room would keep everyone away from each other though, lol. The way they have the arrows and regular lights can definitely be confusing. I see a lot of people go on the wrong lights. Where I'm from, they keep the regular lights and arrows in one box. Seems a bit easier.
I've been here for 5 days & can tell the mechanics are busy with brake work. Everyone flies down the road just to have to brake really hard & fast when they need to stop. The way the on & off ramps are is ok, but always room for improvement. This area is really spread out & it takes forever to get anywhere.
i want to move to there from the uk😂 i would probably die with the heat because im used to such cold weather😂 you could wear sweats & a jumper in the summer where i live😂 the highest weather in the whole year would probably be like 24° (75 degrees)
Why would you move from the UK? Seems cool there. Plus there's all of the cool accents, lol. I never knew it doesn't get that hot there though. It's been 120° here...lol.
I'm living in ireland and planning to move over to arizona for a year or two after college but I'm afraid, I'm more productive in bright warm places but I'm also afraid I'll die of he at
You really get used to the heat my husband is from Estonia which is constant rain and they have really heavy snow..now he can barely stand Arizona winters :/
you want die of the heat...we have a central air and lots of fans to use, plus we have aircon in our cars...lol... here...I am from the uk and live in wisconsin, but may move to AZ
Glad I could help! I love it here so far. It does get a little hot, so it might not be a good place to move if you don't like heat. I haaaaate the heat, but it doesn't bother me all that much. Now if I was a outdoorsy type of person, it would suck. I'm lame and I'm not out much though...lol. But as long as you're not standing in direct sunlight for too long, you're good.
This video really helped me, I’m looking to move to Arizona from Boston!!! Sooooo Nervous about it I’m coming to visit in may. Anymore Advice you can help me out with???
I’m actually native to Arizona and it is amazing her like you are aloud to free hold and it is amazing because it’s the West out here and we still have our West laws it’s awesome :)
Thank god I came across this video. I'm moving to az in a couple days. I have visited in the winter but this will be my first time coming up in the summer 😁 i have had my doubts of moving because of what ppl say about the heat but yes I have ppl say it's not that bad. Mainly moving because cost of living is cheaper and traffic is way better than Hawaii. Thanks for the video😄
No problem! I've gotten used to the heat and I'm usually in my car or my apartment, so I'm not outside much anyway. Just be sure to get a windshield sunshade if you have a car. Otherwise you'll melt as soon as you hit the seats or touch anything, lmao. :D
It's May...in the coming months it will get hotter and reach about 116-118. One year it went up to 120! I been here close 27 years now. I do love the winter months. As far as the scorpions/snakes it depends on where you live the more remote you live the more you will see those critters. Welcome to Arizona!
Jake Koontz People just need to limit the outdoor activties. Especially older people. It's like that everywhere. It's either really cold days or really hot days. Can't escape it.
Thanks for the info. The husband and I just made the crazy decision to move to AZ today. We want to move mid March 2017. We're both from CA & we just moved back to CA from Las Vegas, NV. So hopefully AZ Is good to us.
HellaCrayyVlogs hahaha that's my wife's comment! I guess she watched this video before me! I just found your video today! We're moving to the West valley area. Leaving this week! 😂👍
Love your videos....so informative. I'm moving from Chicago to Chandler this month. I was going to have my car shipped but the price quoted was crazy. ($800-$1200) So I've decided to drive but now scared as heck regarding driving threw flagstaff. :( Thanks so much for the heads up. I needed to see/hear this video. Peace and blessings to you.
Meandmy2 only Yeah, it's definitely expensive to have a car shipped. If you're afraid of heights and steep mountains, I'd definitely avoid the Flaggstaff route, lol. Thanks!
I am considering moving from Cali to AZ. I've lived in Flag for 6 years total. Practically grew up along the Parker Strip over the summer and I cannot pay the outlandish rent in CA. I miss AZ. Thanks for the hot top, and Congratulations on being an Uncle 💕💕.
Hello fellow Cheesehead!! Grew up in Lake Geneva, WI about an hour from Milwaukee, WI. I live in NM/AZ now. Love the high desert regions & 4 mild seasons. Love me some mountains!!
You made this the 2nd week of May. What do ya think of the weather now, after your first summer?? LOL! Spent 4 years in the 602 & loved it. Will be returning to the state soon. This is my final Wisconsin winter...DONE! lol
GunClinger Honestly, the super hot months go by so fast, you barely notice it. if you're an outdoorsy type of person or if you work outside, then bless your soul, lmao. As long as your AC is good in your home and car, you'll be fine. I'm actually in Wisconsin right now too, haha. This snow is annoying already, lol. Going back to AZ in April. 😁
HellaCrayyVlogs Oh, no chit? I'm in Milwaukee, will be heading out March-April as well. Yeah, its hardly stopped snowing since it started on the 4th, ay?? It's giving a nice send-off to remember lol. My job in the 602 was 10 miles from my house, and I commuted probably 85% by mountain bike, the other times by Valley Metro. It was semi-outdoor work, being a warehouse with all overhead doors open through the summer, driving fork-truck out under the sun just to stage finished orders for shipping. The bike commute was always interesting. Saw an accident about every day. People never look to their right when pulling out of shopping centers, a lot of blown red lights and wrong way and drunk drivers. Gotta have your eyes all around you for sure. The general rule for water intake is a quart or so an hour, so if ya get thirsty, it's getting to be too late. Water bottles became like jewelry to me LOL.
GunClinger I lived in Milwaukee before I moved to AZ. I'm in Menomonee Falls for now. I probably would've died on bike, lol. Me and heat don't get along too much, haha. I can definitely say the same about the drivers there. I've never seen more accidents in my life. Even got hit twice within a few months...lol.
Im actually thinking about moving there to phoenix from Charlotte nc im ready for the nice weather all year around its cold as hell here in nc its crazy ive never been out west but ive heard so many good things thanks for the video
Definitely, was planning on moving to Phoenix. Damn, the cost of living up. I currently live live in Denver Colorado. where the rent is ridiculous high. Definitely can't afford to live here anymore. So I'm heading back to Florida. My brother lives in Chandler.
I love Day tripping in AZ!! Park RV in Payson (middle of the state) & day trip in each direction...good times. Phoenix too big lol. Getting shot, kinda like Milwaukee.
I live on the west side of Phoenix and honestly it’s not that bad when it comes to crime as long as you’re nice to people and don’t hang out with the wrong crowd you’ll be good
i have been in Arizona for 17 years and you would be surprised; I just found out about Phoenix last year but have lived in backwoods aoutheastern Arizona like Bisbee, Sierra Vista, St David areas. Hella better weather out there than northern Arizona up by Phoenix which i call Nevada's blood brother it's that fiery hot. Tucson is a little better city than one would expect, rarely getting over 95 degrees tops. Very temperate in southeast Arizona fo sho
My family and me are thinking of moving to Arizona from the UK. My dad is a service engineer and is currently working over in AZ and we hardly see him, and he really likes it there so we were thinking of moving for many reasons.
My opinions: Pros- Best desert beauty in the country, has a few of the best cities in the country, HOT Summer, has forest, fairly cheap, good mexican food, diverse weather for those that can't stand the heat, good Winter weather, snows in Northern AZ, lots to do, has major sports (but only the Cardinals are good), has a few major universities, good places to golf, Grand Canyon, good places to hike, good places to explore, cowboy and indian history scattered through the state, good fast food, has pretty decent concert venues, lots of hidden beauties like waterfalls and secret creeks or lakes) Cons- HOT Summer everywhere but Northern AZ (which is still hot, but slightly bearable), pretty conservative people, lots of illegals (not that it will affect you much), rattlesnakes, scorpions, centipedes, dust storms, very mediocre education in general (although there are some great, beautiful high schools in the nicer areas) Top 5 best places to live: Gilbert (Phoenix suburb) - one of the countrie's best Chandler (Phoenix suburb) - one of the countrie's best Scottsdale (Phoenix suburb) Anthem (Phoenix suburb) Flagstaff (Northern Arizona) - best in Northern AZ
HellaCrayyVlogs, there are a couple things to do in phoenix in the summer, go to a baseball game and go to the salt river and go tubing. I lived there for 10 years and moved away 6 years ago. I do not miss the high temps and the 6 month summers. But going tubing is a blast. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1LN55CuXX_c.html
Dam now I keep hearing about these non drivers, Im recovering now from a car accident with a broken pelvic so hearing this is turning me off, but maybe I'll catch the bus
Thank you for sharing this. I run a company in Oregon (cool climate and very green) and will be opening a touring company in Arizona. Any thoughts as to what is the most touristy locations?
The Grand Canyon is probably the most popular. The Hoover Dam as well, but I wouldn't step foot on the bridge due to the height, haha. Sedona is a really amazing looking city. Lake Havasu is really stunning as well. There's loads more though that I haven't been to, so I'd look up some. :)
Gary Daniel Sounds like you have a large amo uh nt of personal experience on that! Oh and that pent up rage your showing just proves the point, I'd say your probably hiding out in Tempe or Chandler.
Gary Daniel So your story (reporting) is of what you speak. Just great I'll bet you like to leap frog all the kids in your neighborhood. Sure hope they got the sex offender notice on you. Camp Verde is a Senior gambling spot, you must mix it up with a few old ladies when in your spot.
Thinking of moving to Goodyear, my grandparents live there. What are the typical jobs people have there. I know Wells Fargo is a big one. Also I see most people have metal doors on their homes in addition to the regular front door! What's that all about lol. Is it that bad even in the Goodyear/ Surprise area?
I see a lot of call center jobs everywhere. I haven't seen any security doors at all around where I live, lol. Goodyear is the most quiet city I've been to in Arizona so far. I haven't seen much of surprise, but the parts that I've been in were nice. I wouldn't mind staying here in Goodyear.
We build homes on slab so the incremental cost to build a basement is high compared to cold weather areas where you have to build footers below the frost line so you are partially there already. Plus you can hit a hard dig here if you hit rock or caliche.
@@LifeWitSed basements are super expensive. They offered them in our neighborhood in Verrado but it was at least $60K additional so we went for a big yard instead. It is cheaper to build a 2 story w/ loft than a basement here.
@@amyhayslettrealtor1901 Wow, I would've opted for the yard as well. Everyone had basements back in Wisconsin, but they're more of a safety precaution from tornados.
there are pros and cons to every state.Im from cali but i moved to az back in 92.I love it here and id never move back to cali! We have everything here i guess it depends where you actually live..I have lake pleasant,45 min away.We have sedona only hour half from me.And flag 2 hours from me..Sure summer is hot no doubt, but you usually do more at night..I use to always hit the lake..Westgate is cardinal stadium..They have everything there! bike shows, car shows, movies, clubs, restuarants, free bands playing every weekend.Arizona isnt all cactus and tumble weeds..lol
Well good luck to you i honestly would not consider it i was born in az and moved to chicago and honestly chicago is a miracle i live here . Good luck to you!
Pretty much everyone in Cali/NV/AZ drives so yeah you would need one unless you live and work in downtown Phoenix or downtown in any other suburb city, there's are busses and Metro systems in Phoenix/Glendale/Tempe/etc. If you move to a really small but populated city like Maricopa, or Buckeye, you could say certain places are walking distances though but yeah Arizona does have the best paved roads in the united states though ;D
I wanna move here. I have family there. Yes friends are nice but i want to hang out with my cousins who are my age it's best for me. And i need to move on from the shit where i live. I can get over it here but it's best to move somewhere new to have a new start
Hubby and I are gonna be westbound in April 2020..😀(his plan was to retire April 2019..)🤔..THEN we went to AZ to see our grandson this past Christmas.😃 ..after we took a drive to visit Tombstone .. It didn't take long for us to seriously think about making a big move and live out our final years together.(32yrs in May)😶😥 So hopefully ..🤔we have another decade🙄lol ..so why not live our final years there? 🤔I live with 3 digit temps too...and being close to Savannah..I can assure you it's the humidity here that kills you!😓😫😩 SO gonna trade these Rainy nights in Ga for Dry heat and Beautiful Sunrises & Sunsets. In fact those are just a few of things that make Arizona so beautiful. We totally fell in love with it. Plus I like rocks!😁😂🤣and can take drive anytime up to the Phoenix area to see our family too 😊
We have looked at some homes in AZ and were wondering about all the concrete walls around the yards? One person told me it was for the dust storms and for keeping flash flood water out of your yard, flood water! So we have only looked at homes that are elevated. We use Google Earth to find lower drainage spots and avoid them. Are some parts of the state more prone to flash floods?
BulletSpoung I wondered the same thing before I moved here. I read that it was just for privacy, safety and to keep fires from spreading. They started the brick walls in the older parts of Arizona, so I guess they just kept the scheme. As for the flooding, there's a few maps that show the areas that are more prone to floods. Here's one: www.abc15.com/monsoon
Great video..you are so funny. I have a question. I have a child with Cerebral Palsy and I'm really considering moving to surprise Arizona or goodyear not sure yet. I have never ever been out there. But anyway is there good hospitals, programs and Therapies for my child. so far from doing research it seems there ranked#1 in special needs assistance. what you think?
Jennifer Martinez Thanks! I loved Goodyear and Surprise, even though I've only been to surprise a few times. If you're a more laid back and relaxed person, one of those would definitely fit you. As for the hospitals, I've been to one that was in Scottsdale when someone I know was admitted. I've also been to the Phoenix children's hospital when I was looking for a job. It's huge, everyone there was friendly and seemed to know what they were doing. I'd definitely look into that one if you decide to move to AZ. :)
HellaCrayyVlogs Thanks. I'll def continue to do some research. So far i like what i hear. From the search I've done there seems to be great things for my son. Planning my move for 2019 so I have more then enough time. Thanks again. Take care
please could you do more videos in AZ. My wife and I was looking at Gilbert area. We need a 3 bedroom but skeptical of renting apt because we have 3 children and sometimes like any other children's they like to run around at times and I just want to respect my neighbors much as possible. So a home would be great.
Hey I grew up in Gilbert. I think its a great place for a family, its stupid hot in the summer so be prepared of that like you will be angry at the heat I promise, but lots of jobs. People are mostly to themselves, its clean and quiet. Usually there's not a lot of people out walking around (cus hot as hell) and you and your wife would both need a car to live comfortably in my opinion. I would recommend renting a home for more respect for your neighbors as well.
i'm moving from minnesota to arizonia. the summers in minnesota have been extremely humid and it is not worth dealing with an extremely cold winter and extremely humid summer. i would prefer the heat over the cold though
HellaCrayyVlogs I moved from Connecticut to Ohio five years ago and I ready to leave now that my last youngest son has graduated from High School, I'm ready for a new life...so done with the dam snow
what I like about AZ you loose weight fast from the heat recommend fat people living in cold states to AZ shit you loose 100 pound fast in those fuckin hot summer months
Does anyone have any recommendations for good apartment complexes in the Chandler area? Moving there from Detroit in September. A lot of the reviews I am reading of these apartment complexes are scaring me! LOL.
I haven't really been in the area, but definitely keep looking at the reviews, lol. There's a lot of shady apartments. I found my apartment on apartments.com. They have an app too.
