One of our community members was able to point out that the fragrance of the soap is very similar to Clubman Vanilla, and he's right! Kudos to @pookie5592 for pointing that out. Sweeter than the aftershave to my nose, but still a strong resemblance.
You were on point on why I bought this last spring, used one container and never purchased again. Williams was my soap from age 12(1996) to age 38 (2022). The replacement I use is Arko mashed into a puck, but I do like trying other soaps and creams. The Pinaud shaving soap was a YMMV for me.
Look, it's not going to replace Cella, but it's perfect for a travel soap for use with a small synthetic brush. It smells just like Clubman Classic Vanilla.
Oh yeah. No thank you on that. Thanks for trying it and getting your view on it. Since last year, I discovered Ariana and Evans soap and I fell in love with both, the hard soap and tub soap they sell. I have used nothing but their Barbiere Sofisticato (beautiful upgraded barbershop scent) and Pedro Fiasco hard soap.
I was just about to buy this, - tomorrow in fact, - now I think I’ll skip it, at least for awhile. Sounds too sweet for my taste. Shampoo and soap doesn’t thrill me either. It’s a shame because I really love all of the other Pinaud Clubman products that I’ve used so far. Pinaud Clubman Original Aftershave has become my favorite of my aftershave rotation. Thank you for this review. Great as always, sir.
Great video! I had a question for you...maybe even a video idea...but I was wondering while similar companies like Stephan brand all their products under the Stephan name and the same with Gabel's using Gabel's, Clubman Pinaud releases products under the name Clubman, under the name Lustray, under the name Jeris and even take their name off of Osage Rub? I find it an interesting strategy, but don't really know why they operate this way. Cheers! -Scott
I'm halfway through a tub of this. I find the scent to be pretty subtle, but I like it. This stuff works well for me, but I load my brush, and then lather in a bowl.
Thanks for sharing your positive experience with the shave soap! I'm always happy to have a different viewpoint on the stuff I review, and a different technique that might give viewers a different experience. For a point of reference for other users, I used it twice, placing about the size of a dime of soap in the bowl, and lathering from there. Your technique may be better for this soap than mine. Thank you again!
@@classicalgrooming By the way, you said it doesn't smell like any of the aftershaves. I find it to be very similar to the Clubman Vanilla. To my nose, anyway.
@@POOKIE5592 Hmm...I just checked, and I'll be darned...you are right! Thank you for making that connection! I'll pin a correction at the top of the comments. Thank you!
I just bought this soap and have yet to try it. But after watching you apply it, I will point out you did not lather the soap! If you do not lather it, or hydrate it properly you will definetly not get a good shave, full stop. I love all your reviews because you do a great job of expessing your opinions, but on this one, I think you dropped the ball because you did not lather the soap properly. 😢😢
Thanks for the comment. I did try to lather the soap off-screen in a lather bowl, but it came out rather thin. I can say that I may have not gotten the hydration right. I find that each soap that I try often takes multiple attempts to get the lather right, and I may not have dialed this one in yet. Once you do try this, please post again and let us know if it worked well for you! Thanks for letting me know your perspective, and for being part of the channel!
@classicalgrooming I do love your channel and value your opinion. My comment was based on my limited experiences with soap and cream. Once I discovered that lather and foam made a huge difference in my experience with the quality of my shave, that was a shave-altering experience for me. I will report back with my findings once I do get enough beard growth to report back. I have to stop shaving every 10 minutes. Thanks again for your great work, and I look forward to your next video!
