But the dodgers have had a history of pushing starters in the regular season only to have them falter in the postseason when it matters(ie Kershaw's atrocious era in the playoffs even after being a cy young candidate multiple seasons). Braves lost 2 of their top three pitchers to injuries and dealt with a lot of injuries in the bullpen. Braves geting all those players back including a few additions. Braves getting back guys that have proven it in the biggest stage while the Dodgers signed Othani and a lot of question marks with high upside.

Yah as a lifelong dodger fan.. not having that closer spot sured up definitely bothers me. Outside of Graterol, Phillips and (albeit surprising) joe Kelly.... There's WAY too many question marks. Hell, the three above have blown games as well. Ever since Jansen left, we have had a question mark for late game save situations. Too bad we can't turn back the clock and have Gagne on this team. 😅 I took his saves for granted as a young fan. Hahaha

I would argue that Yamamoto is an even better pitcher than Senga. Senga couldn't win the Japanese Cy young because of Yamamoto.

I think this is an antiquated view, not just in Baseball but all sports in general. There is a lot more money, focus, and high quality play and training overseas.l then there used to be. There haven’t been a lot of Japanese flops in the MLB. People need to rethink how they look at American dominance in American sports. Take the NBA for example. Some pundits and fans try to fight against the idea that Europeans are starting to become a major force in the game. Football is seeing more and more Hispanic and Asian players at the highest levels. The reverse is true too. The soccer world needs to watch out because American players are popping up in top European club lineups more and more. It’s beautiful to see. Every game should be the world’s game.

The MLB. If the Japan level was so damn good and the NPB then you'd have our MLB all stars wanting to play over there, it isn't just the financial but also the level of competition. I've heard the "oh well in the WBC Japan has dominated" yeah the WBC is only about a month long, small sample size. Well you don’t know astronomical revenue Ohtani brings to the Dodgers. The Dodgers are incredibly smart organization. They also think about the future. Many Japanese top prospects’ favorite team will be the Dodgers. There’s no way they didn’t already calculate that $700M.
