You're going to have to update this. Yamamoto uses former Olympian and javelin world record holder, Tom Petranoff's, techniques and product (TurboJav). He throws a baseball a lot like a javelin, using body whip and much less elbow. Back in '86, Tom threw a baseball 103 mph. He also competed in 517 events and never experienced an injury. A LOT of baseball programs are now showing a great deal of interest in Petranoff's javelin product and training techniques. Look it up. Agree or not, it's quite enlightening!! (Tom's a wonderful man!)

That curve axis is nuts! Body weight movement/force towards the plate +. He gets all of it. he doesnt pitch standing still. Arm sync is spot on.

I saw a older gentleman a while back and he could bring heat and it look so effortless. At first i thought he was a pitcher for someone. But i got closer to him and I realize this guy was at least 55. Not big like 6'0" 185. Well built. But his stamina was crazy. I sat there in the benches and just watched him. This guy was was throwing 90 to 98 mph. So i had to make sure. I had a pocket radar gun in my truck went and got it and came back. Well he was throwing nasty sliders but i was interested in his speed. Then he started throwing hard. It was 97 to 100 mph. I said what the hell. He was incredible. He threw 15 pitches at 99 mph. I had a chance to talk to him and i ask him he was playing with someone and he said no. He just loves to pitch. Hes never played for anyone. He would not give me his name. Hes down in Texas. I have not seen him since. Just weird. This is no joke. But he pitches like the old school days. He gets down the mound very quick. His reflexes are fast.

the follow with his right leg... really seems to transfer that energy very well. You can see his right hamstring muscles flex once his foot comes off the ground .. he gets that lower leg up and tighter to his fulcrum. maximizes the energy going into the ball... when you dont you lose a bit of rotational energy (how fast your arm can move through its motion)... its similar to how a figure skater/gymnast pulls there arm(s) in to rotate faster... angular momentum.

Great video as always. Do you think the pitch clock will negatively affect him at all? in terms of fatigue/mechanics/comfortability especially with pitching out of the windup.

He leverages every inch of his height. Like pedro Martinez. It's all about flexibility. I've seen video of him stopping at the top of his delivery, gain his balance, then turns and throws. Which, slowed his delivery. His accuracy is really good. His delivery looks repeatable. He can get a ton of torque.

I agree. It's the amount of torque he generates from many muscle groups, and also the mechanics of his throw. No doubt, someone that trains him comprehends the science.

I am an IR dominant pitcher and I struggle to stay sideways as you mention in the video. What drills can i do to try to stay more closed as an hip IR dominant pitcher?

His first movement is pure sideways. He doesn't drop until his hip is far away from the mound. Most dudes are dropping too soon and staying over their back leg. He's getting maximum extension from the back leg torquing his upper body. Tim lincecum was similar. It always felt weird to me to move sideways that far.

If you can watch some pitchers back in the 50s and 60s you will notice they start behind the rubber CC and they just go down the mound. Theres not much leg kick its just speed down the mound. More speed down the mound faster you pitch. Add arm speed and quick reflexes then you got ball speed. Steven Dawkowski was pure speed down the mound. He did not take a high leg kick, he just simply exploded down the mound. Players said he was like a cobra going down . 110-115 fastballs. 457 feet long toss. Could throw a baseball through the plywood. Thats fast.He was 5'11" 175 lbs.

Height or weight doesnt matter when it comes to velocity. Either you have the arm strenght or you dont. The extra miles are added with mechanics and the body.

Even Nolan Ryan blew his elbow out. Yeah he was 2 starts away from actually retiring when he blew it out but he blew it up at 46! I'm with you until a pitchers consistently not able to stay on the mound, theoretical injuries are always just that.

Y’all think he should be a big bulky athlete like Americans - he’s Japanese and has a slim build unlike Ohtani who bulked up to contend with the Neanderthal MLB non Japanese players. His build and size meant nothing in the WBC. It’s the same premise like in volleyball or gymnastics - the Japanese athletes were shorter with not over bulked up muscular physiques but they were so skilled and powerful. Japan has some of the best athletic universities in the world. And, as usual, most of the “experts” being negative have never probably even played baseball but act like they know so much. 😂 I don’t know when being 5 ft 10 was considered “small”. Pick on something else, you sound ridiculous using that. Forget that MLB is breaking their necks trying to get Sasaki who is tall and lanky but haters gonna hate.😂

YOSHINOBU YAMAMOTO, HAS INCREDIBLE UPPER BODY STRENGTH. LOVE THIS KID BUT IF HE DOESNT START LOADING HIS DRIVE LEG HE WILL HAVE SOME PROBLEMS PITCHING IN THE STATES. ALL THE JAPANESE PITCHERS GET HURT WHEN THEY COME TO THE STATES, AND THE REASON FOR THAT IS THE CIRCUMFERENCE OF THE BASEBALL ⚾️ IN THE UNITED STATES IS LARGER AND THEY ALL THROW THE SPLIT FINGER AND THEY TYPICALLY HAVE SMALLER HANDS THAN THAT OF AMERICAN PITCHERS.. 1
