This new series really came out at the right time. I started looking into the Air Force over a month ago and literally watched all of your guys' videos, then I was thinking to myself "man I really wish they continued making Air Force vlogs and other informational videos so I don't have to go back and refer to the old ones." Then here you guys are starting an Air Force journey!! Helps me out a lot.

I recently had to retake my ASVAB and found a RU-vid channel that helped me increase my score in a month and a half. I am in no way affiliated with his channel. The channel is called grammerhero and goes over the math portions of the AFQT. The AFQT consists of math reasoning, math knowledge, paragraph comprehension, and word knowledge. To maximize your score on the ASVAB, you NEED to focus on the AFQT portion. I went from a 56 to a 94 in a month and a half.
@AirmanVision

heck yeah!! way to go!!! That is my advice as well is to focus on those areas! I will get around to making a ASVAB study tips video too, but I won't go in depth like that channel does. I haven't heard of it either, so thanks for sharing the info with everyone!!

Awesome video and just in time as i’m considering joining the Air force. i live ~20 minutes from seymour johnson air force base, what are the chances i get stationed there? will my recruiter ACTUALLY be able to help me with that?
@AirmanVision
@AirmanVision 3 года назад
Yay! glad the timing is right! If you join guard or reserve, you can see what base is closest to you and then you join from that location. You still have to go to basic and tech school, but you stay at home and then do your one weekend a month with those and then you 100% know that you get to stay close to home If you join active, your recruiter has 0% chance of helping you with that. All your recruiter does is get you in. Once you leave for basic, your recruiter doesn't help you anymore. You get your assignment where you will be stationed when you are in tech school. you get to make a list of where you want to go, but ULTIMATELY the Air Force needs come first and there is no guarantee that you will be able to get stationed there if you go active duty

Should we even study for the other parts of the ASVAB like Science, Mechanical Engineering, Shop, etc.? Or should we just focus on studying the 4 Main Sections of the ASVAB (Math, Arithmetic, Word Knowledge, & Paragraph Comprehension)?

Just focus on the 4 main sections!!!! Great question!

Now you can still look at the other sections, but ONLY study for the ones that help you get the jobs you are interested in. Is there anyway you can document/film the hearing and vision part of the physical it takes to actually get in to the Air Force? What is the actual process like when you go to do that part? Is the hearing test hard? I’ve always wanted to serve in whatever branch would take me but I’ve always been told by recruiters that I wouldn’t be able to join because of my hearing. I can’t hear anything out of my left ear, but my right ear works fine. Everything else about my body is normal except for that one ear. Any advice/tips/comments/loopholes you have about this would be appreciated. Also, Congratulations!
@AirmanVision
@AirmanVision 3 года назад
You cannot film that part because you're not allowed to have your phones in the medical wing during MEPS. I do have a video that will be coming out (MEPS Day 2), I am actually editing that video right now and I explain everything as best I can to let people know what it will be like. But, unfortunately, if you have no hearing in one ear and your recruiter says you can't join, then you may not be able to if they won't allow you to schedule a MEPS date The hearing test isn't hard, but there is no way to practice at it. You go in a soundproof room and you wear a headset and different frequency beeps play at different rates and you have to press a button each time you hear them But if your recruiter allows you to move forward and set a MEPS date, as long as you pass the hearing at a moderate level, you should be good. But I have no clue how they score it

McKenna I haven't seen a bunch of info on this. I'm in my 30s and looking to join I was diagnosed with ADD as a child but have been off medication since start of high school. I've worked since out of high school with no special treatment and great annual reviews Looking to join Security Forces and heard it can be a disqualification.. any input?
@AirmanVision
@AirmanVision 3 года назад
to my knowledge it is a disqualifying factor, but if you haven't been on medication in years and still function just fine, then I would say to give it a shot! It will all come down to talking to your recruiter about it. Call him/her to make an appointment, but then when you go in for your appointment, that is when I would mention it to them. Just be honest and up front about it. They are your only way in and you will either get a no, then you have your answer. or you will get a yes and can start working towards joining!!

Don’t you have to do an application first? That’s what I did and was assigned a recruiter but I still haven’t met with them. Does an appointment indicate that you’re ready to go or can you just ask questions? and with the ASVAB-if you take it, are you locked in the contract or do you still have the option to think about joining? Thank you
@orianagilmore98
@orianagilmore98 9 месяцев назад
I contacted my recruiter directly so if you haven’t heard from them maybe try to call and set an appointment. The ASVAB determines what jobs you’re eligible for but it is not a contract and does not mean you’re in the military. You still have the option to continue thinking about it

At the end of the phone call, if they don’t tell you what to bring to the appointment, ask them. To be honest, if you are currently in a state with high retired military population, be approaching, because most likely they fill up their quota already, then they won’t help you out much.
