Thanks Harry. My wife bought me your cookbook for my birthday on Saturday. What a fantastic book. Love it and thanks for going to all that trouble for us all.
Harry, the Hitch for your safety chains. If they are rated at 2 tonnes, it doesn't mean they will break at that load. Due to the built-in safety factors, the failure point will be at least double to account for shock loads. Suggest if you flip your camper there is usually enough slack to allow for rotation. Having said that they are a great time saving idea. I'm planning to purchase some. Love your vids.
Great episode Harry. The highlight was Fred jumping up on your lap onto the fold out camping couch. We can never get enough of Fred and his crazy antics. Our family are all receiving Bare Bones rechargeable hanging lamps for Xmas thanks to your suggestion.
Can't wait to un-hitch this Christmas. Will be our first Christmas one the road with all gifts based around camping. You have just given me some more great ideas. Thanks
Hey Harry, good content and I got some good ideas from you. One thing that I found a little concerning is your comment on Adventure Kings products. I agree that there is quite a bit really low quality stuff that they sell but there is still good quality products to be had from them. For example, their latest clamshell rooftop tent and the 270 free standing awning. In my own opinion they stack up pretty well against the very expensive stuff. My son bought a Bush-company clamshell for $5300, and that was for a mid range tent. I paid $1480 for the Adventure Kings Grand Tourer. I have had it now for just over a year and have used it on quite a few occasions. I have had no issues with it at all. No dust or water ingress. I have better stand up room and a better ladder. My 270 awning is just as good, if not better, as his three times the price 30 second awning from superior engineering. He is not confident to leave it out during windy weather, whereas my cheaper option seems to be rugged enough to withstand the coastal winds. My way of thinking is that I can replace my kit three times and it will still be cheaper than buying just one of the more name brand items. I don’t worry too much about getting the tent shell “pin stripped” or the awning cover bush waked going down narrow tracks. What I have is a good setup for my needs and I didn’t have to remortgage my house to get any of it. When I purchased the 270 awning I got a free awning “matt” very similar to the $400 equivalent. I travel to enjoy the experience not to worry about the damage that can be inflicted from the environment.
I agree. Their gear gets a lot of people started without selling kidneys. Quality isn't always amazing, but I am sure plenty of their gear comes from the same production line that produces gear at 5 times the cost for other brands.
‘Hitch’, I wanted a Norweld canopy when I turned 50, so I bought one! My wife complained no end, ‘I don’t want a tradie thing on the ute’. I explained, my car, my decision, my cost, my birthday! Now, she always wants to show off the canopy, fridge, induction cooking, pantry…….’Hitched’!
Hope you had a great Christmas Harry with the fam. Just wanted to say the wifey and I watched this ep and she got me a 3 seater oztrail camping chair and your book. The kids were also watching and they did up a voucher booklet each for her amongst other things. Great videos as always and thanks for the inspo
Your video came up randomly in my feed. Subscribed, cant wait to see your cooking. Those shackles, if you pin them onto your vehicle you only need one set. Breaking strain can be as much as 8x the marked load, the weak point is actually the steel ring plate welded on your reece hitch, it's designed to tear the shackle through the metal. Another bad gift for your list is "camping" cookware. We use heavy duty good quality cookware, a le creuset enameled saucepan and a stainless or cast iron skillet. You want something that you can brutalise with a scouring pad in not much luke warm water. Cleaning crusty flimsy cookware while camping undoes a lot of the enjoyment.
Another great Christmas gift vid Harry - thanks. Love the floor mat and the kids chair! Those Hitch hooks are a good idea - hold the trailer if its gets away, but breaks under heavy load.
My cousin and each received a shower cap, we were 18! So less than impressed, but very politely thanked the Auntie. They were so ugly. We laugh about it every year when we HITCH up to reminisce.
Merry Christmas Harry, Lots of great tips and I'll be sharing with a few friends so we can HITCH up the trailers and head out for holiday celebrations.
I’m waiting on my Mini Braai to clear customers in Los Angeles right now! Watched your recent video of the beach bulgogi (which I made, and was delicious, thank you!), appreciated how your described its use case and usefulness, and ordered one. Crazy price on shipping to the US, but whatever. Getting quality gear is never cheap. Excited to give it a go this week when it arrives! 🙏
My gift I'm doing is reusable ice blocks. They are like a hard plastic shell with liquid inside. Chuck them in the camp freezer, without water or ice block trays. Also cheap $30 for 80 so you divide them into little gift for family, as you can use them at home and camping.
Another cracking vid mate. I wish to subscribe twice to get you to 100k. I will be sure to ask my 4 kids tomorrow to help out. All your products are great mate and i recommend anyone wishing to buy your lighters to get one ASAP.
Great ideas that are tried and tested by yourself including the 'hitch' coupling, love those lights so I think I'll drop a hint for fam to get me a couple
Viewing from Canada 🇨🇦 , and yes I'm subscribed 😅 I cannot agree you more about the multitool, I own 2 of the same model. Always follows me while ATVing, snowmobiling, camping-overlanding, boating. I gifted a teenager coming of age, with his named engraved.
Hitch!! And it’s cool you asked for a subscribe, I actually thought I was as you’re always in my feed. Keep up the great work mate, I look forward to your vid every week. 👍
The Kmart eating chair is great and has served both our kids through their early years. I strongly recommend taking out the locking clips on the tray cause when you need to get the kid out in a hurry I.e. a choking situation because the last thing you want is to work with the clips underneath the tray. Easy to remove the and tray still sits securely. Same with the straps, chuck those out - the only use they serve is to catch food anyway. Experience taught us this hack and all ok but every second counts with those situations.
Harry, great video once again. Similar to the manflowers is a business called craft beer passport. They make one for nearly every state in Australia and gets people great deals at local breweries. I've come across so many awesome small businesses using my beer passport.
I had seen the trailer hooks hanging from the back of a 4wd a few months back and i meant to look up what they were. So thanks for showing me how much easier it is to HITCH up the trailer, may have to add them to my list for Santa 😂
More great content it's great to see you live in the real world not like a lot of content creators on here. Common sense to buying for Christmas everything from 'hitches' to knife sets and everything in between. I love my leather man tools I think my current count is about 8 tools from the Supertool 300 to Squirt S4. They are all well used and I keep them in my centre console, door pocket, tool box and on my belt and yes it's the first item in my checked baggage when travelling for pleasure or work, the last thing I want is to lose it when going thru security at the airport. Keep the great content coming. Cheers Pieter
Love your videos, and this one is so helpful I saw those telescoping lights for the first time in Morocco and came home and immediately bought one, they're amazing and for bags I use surplus parachute recovery bags. they're not waterproof, but they're otherwise bomb-proof. if some stitching gets blown out they're easy to repair, they're pretty inexpensive, and they make a nice spot to put souvenir patches from national parks and locations we've been. my sons put their Boy Scout patches on theirs. For dishes we use metal pie pans that aren't nonstick, I just used a metal engraver to put their names and tattoo designs and decorations on the outside.
Your mate's at Drifta make some duffel bags.... Only problem with the Meater is that you need mobile coverage (Bluetooth) for it to connect to your phone. I have been caught out.
Harry your videos are the best always get something out of it especially when selecting something for camping ect save a lot of Googling and money waisting . Hope you and your family have a great Christmas 🎅 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🍻🍻 Cheers Wombat 🐾👍🌲☃️
Merry Christmas to you n yours, thanks for helping Christmas go off without a "Hitch" Chairs are very subjective, love the acts of service idea too. Keep up the awesome work
Great episode to “Hitch” up some new subscribers for the 100k. My fave episode is actually the cocktail recipes! Used them many times. The Spiced Apple Cider is the best!
Great episode Harry. My son is hoping you’ll be able to “hitch” me up with a copy of your book. I bought him a copy for his birthday but I love it so much I keep borrowing it.
My wife and I tend to allocate a budget and buy our own gifts. I got myself a very nice cooking knife last year. Vouchers or gift cards towards the expensive item are also nice, so long as it's going to be purchased. If someone gives me a $100 porsche voucher it takes me $100 closer to something I'm never going to buy. I got a leatherman for my birthday a few years ago. I use it every day at work and plenty still on my days off.
I've already subscribed as I always subscribe, like and comment on my favourite channels as I hope it helps 😅 Do I need any of this stuff? No. Do I want all of this stuff? Yes! 😅 I got my partner a dune 4wd 24 can back pack cooler as a gift and it has been so handy. We use it everytime we go anywhere. 50 bucks from Anaconda. And Hitch, happy Christmas to you and your family!
Always looking for a quick and easy way to hitch up! I'm a massive fan of Victorinox gear, haven't seen the folding steak knives before... then I found the price 😢. I'll stick to six of the standard knives for the cost of one folder. One thing I've learnt in my 53 years on this planet... buy the best you can afford.
Another Victorinox fan here, those little knives are fantastic for slicing tomatoes thin or a steak; so sharp I warn people haha I just wrap them in a tea towel for travelling. Pretty sure I would cut myself unfolding the foldable ones. Their rounded bread knife is the best bread knife I have found; hardly any crumbs when you cut a loaf. I agree, get what you can afford. I tend to do without until I can afford what I would like.
