The best channel on RU-vid..I tell all my family and friends to subscribe to your channel because you put that black face on world travel and our community needs to see these places around the world that you travel to as well as seeing black folk doing it
Yes! It’s great for those who know nothing about travel, and the fact that many “black people”, have traveled for years. It’s always good to remove oneself from subculture community dwellings and learn more. Brown faces have always traveled the world.
Panama is one of the most beautiful countries in the world. With a rich history, fascinating culture and a variety of historic sights, Panama is the perfect vacation destination for you and your family.
Your most professional video to date! Informative, excellent camera framing, great editing. You could he in the video-advertising biz! Looks beautiful, but I hope to see if more day-to-day diversity exists on the centro streets.
Can't wait to see your video on the day to day life of the black Panamanian.. the tall buildings are beautiful but have low occupancy correct...tell us why And gentrification...
There’s so much more to Panama my home! The places mentioned are fairly new. You should visit the canal, true black Christ and other areas outside of the city. Panama used to be a wonderful place growing up in the 70s and 80s. There were many activities last week celebrating black ethnicity.
You guys have a very unique artistic filming style. Top notch music and attitudes. That's why you've gone so far. Keep it up y'all. Hope to catch up with you in our travels one day.
Y’all have taken the bar up to Pole Vault height. There were so many things to like about the style of this video. Dang! This was film school stuff. My question how long did it take to shoot and edit before you post? I know y’all had a shot list? Freaking Phenomenal work! Hats off. Y’all ready for NetFlix. Just don’t forget the little people.
Thank you brother! Really appreciate that feedback. We definitely planned to be more intentional about some of the scenes and it took some time. Outside of the planning and shooting, the editing alone took 2 full days (as in 48 hours with a few naps in between).
I've just been there for two weeks trying to understand if it could be the right place to relocate with my family. I've been amazed by the city and its skyline but I had loved the most Albrook and Clayton area with their beautiful houses surrounded by that tropical and unstoppable nature.
Casco Viejo is not the original old city. La Ciudad Antigua is the original which comprises a national park on the outskirts of the city. It was destroyed by the pirate Henry Morgan towards the end of the 17th century. It is basically a city of ruins. It is a very peaceful place, but well worth a visit. Everything is labeled in English and Spanish. Casco Viejo is the second old capital. From Elaine la profe de espańol en NJ
Rondel and April you guys are amazing and you are doing your thing. I watched this video 2x. Love how wherever you go you get to know the locals and show support. I’m personally against Gentrification for the obvious reasons but in support of it for what it will bring to cities, states etc such as tourism and economic growth for local businesses that are able to withstand and compete with the larger business. It’s unfortunate many people will suffer and possibly increase homelessness. Take care! Stay safe 🙏🏾 With that said I will be adding Panama to my list 😀
Panama is a mixing of cultures and races (melting pot) and panamanians are proud of this. According to the united nations (UN) is one of the most mixed countries in the world. In other words panamanians are the real united colors of benetton
I found the socialization of Panama to be very similar to the USA, it felt more so then in Costa Rica…considering the various skin colors that many had in Panama as opposed to Costa Rica, I find that interesting. I feel that while the people genetically are diverse, I sense the people segregate from the blacks. They socialized much less with each other then certain parts of South America. The people desired to kick out, when talking to the people there were of a darker hue and they tend to be the people receiving lower wages. The people in the trenches that build the Panama Canal are of a darker hue. Gentrification will continue until there is a value for the progenitors of Reggaton, the Panama Canal and overall culture of Panama. Income mixing in the neighborhoods would help stave off the displacement of the inhabitants.
Hi, thanks for the video. Are you still living there? Could you please let me know about the living cost, is a safe city, is secure walking around, biking. Food, is good?. Supermarkets?, Transportation?. How much money , monthly is enough for living?. What area of the city is a good one, affordable and safe?. Thanks

Loved the video! That’s my beautiful Patria!!!❤️❤️❤️ I hope you get to enjoy authentic Panamanian cuisine! November is our patriotic month and if you want to see more culture you should definitely visit again... or stay! I also want to add that the quality of the video is amazing! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 God bless you guys!
It’s been a while since I’ve watched one of your videos (our own channel keeps us so busy 😭) but I’ve missed your energy! Love your style and wait, did you get a dog??? Lol
Lolz naw, we were pet sitting to stay in the owners condo. Ik the feeling you are either consuming or creating....its hard to do both. Thanks for the props!
As a Panamanian raise in America a great word would be along the lines of "bridge". As it bridges everything in the Americas together not just physically. Maybe just all-encompassing. But I absolutely agree with your words as well. Great video, glad you stayed safe!
We are from NYC and spend at least 7 months a year in Panama. Life for us is so much better here. Panama opened it’s loving arms, gave us a hug and we knew we had found home. Visitors and foreign residents just need to be mindful of the local culture and their concerns. We live here with respect and gratitude for making us feel so welcome. It’s our heaven on earth.
That's one that people hunting for a new home have in common. They know when they've found it. There isn't any middle ground. Wishing you and yours the best!
Chicago had (still has?) programs for displaced residents due to gentrification: High rises built with state funds had to allow at least 10% of the apartments to be Section 8. So, someone paying 3k/mo. lives next door to someone paying $700 for the same apartment. Needless to say, there’s always a waitlist those meeting the low income requirements. Thank you for showing us this side of Panama City. The Yarbros are like a box of chocolates -you never know what you’re gonna get😊
I respect how the states deal w/ gentrification....when communities rise up and make noise. We're asking around to see if they have any similar programs here.
I used to work at a women's shelter and housing directors would move very attractive homeless women to the front of that waiting list for "little favors" if you know what I mean. Those apartments set aside for section 8 in luxury buildings are to die for, and some people are willing to do some unsavory things to move into one.
@@guillermogouldburn763 Evil desire lurks everywhere but the notion of balancing the scales w/ a seasoning of these types of programs is the point and I think it's a great one.
Yessssss…do it Yarbros! 👏🏽 Blessings beyond Blessings to you and yours: the collab with Househunters; 100k followers; business growth and opportunities, etc. etc. Also, tell Ms. April that beautiful strands of black Sister Locs would look good on her. ~Peace and Love and Good Fortune ✈️ 🏙 *Proverbs 18:16
We’re open and believing for ALL blessings meant for us! Thank you 🙏🏾 Btw, I’m following an IG acct w/sister locs now. Love the look but not quite ready to pull that trigger. Blessings!
@@TheYarbros absolutely…definitely understand about the beautiful tresses. I’m not quite ready for permanent locs either, but found a work around by wearing them as a style. I usually 2 strand twist 250-300 micro locs and wear them for a few months, and then take them down to let the fro flow freely - and then repeat! 😆 Really enjoy being able to experience both worlds whenever I want to! Looking forward to your next upload. ~Take care
This guy is simpler to me when it comes to beautification of any major city. He's love a great and beautiful skyline and so do I. I live in the largest city in Kansas, which I refer to as a large town. It have ZERO skyline, lol
Hi guys 👋🏽 I have a friend who's from Panama I've been there since 2018 and the city is fabulous, we didn't stay the small town where she grew up we stayed in the touristy areas, the restaurants and shops are amazing, took alot of pictures ate alot places we did little shopping, did some seenery etc.. to me Panama it was a beautiful place and it is safe, took back all those memories back to Chicago. Thank you guys I enjoy this video.stay safe.🙏🏾🤗
Gentrification is a huge problem that i noticed as I started to travel a few years ago. The only ountry that i saw to date that seemed to be handling this issuse reasonably was Bermuda. They have residence thta are strictly for native born peoples only. Foreigners can not purchase these residences. Everywhere else, I've been so far, Bahamas, Caymans, Columbia, Panama (not sure about Costa Rica). Do not seem to care much about this serious issue.
Nothing worst than watching a travel vlog and the creator spends 90% of the video with the camera in *their* as opposed to showing you the destination.
That's an awesome position to be in...traveling for work. Hopefully we can continue to shed some light on Panama. Thanks foe watching and talking w/ us ✌🏾
Unfortunately, the local and foreign investors are pricing out all locals all over the Caribbean Basin. The Caribbean Basin today is the best place to retire in the World because dollars and euros here take you a very long way, unlike in many other places. New sources of employment in this region, especially in medical sciences and it technologies, require good education and empowerment. There is only basic government funding in education.
True, we had a conversation w/ an indigenous woman in Antigua, Guatemala and she was explaining how her entire tribe are craftsmen and don't have the education/ skillsets to leverage expat dollars more. Broke my heart because these governments and multinational companies are pilfering every euro/ dollar they can get.
@@santodiablo_pma Ohh yeah, that changes the whole equation. If I were Panamanian I'd be trying to get out of here. Panama dosent treat its citizens well at all especially not the poor.
I am not down with local and/or indigenous people being pushed out/priced out by "outsiders" with deep pockets. The locals should "equitably" benefit from it. A $1.25 minimum wage is almost insulting and not equitable; not a wage that will allow them to thrive, save, and live decently like "outsiders" do. IMO, the problem isn’t “gentrification” alone, but an attitudinal problem that some of the rich and wealthy have that their money is a ticket to enter into depressed areas, build, develop, stretch their dollars, pay the locals insulting wages (as if they are doing them a favor), live extravagant lives while the locals cannot afford to. I have met such persons who really feel that if they give a Panamanian a job they are doing a great thing. It goes much more beyond that. How about a future? Being able to save and send their child to college? The passing on of generational wealth for Panamanians? I have seen Expats enter into Panama and REALLY benefit THEMSELVES. I have seen areas in Panama that Expats carved out and built up for themselves and those areas do not look or feel like Panama. They look and feel like "White" towns and neigborhoods in the USA. For example, Boquete, And, on top of that, those Expats walk around like Panama is THEIR country! These are largely - if not exclusively - rich or well off White people. Most discussions I have had with Expats in Panama have been about "how they can benefit themselves." How THEY can save money. Start a business. Buy real estate and rental properties. It's an attitude. No discussions of pulling a poor Panamanian up by the bootstraps. These Expats are into maintaining power, control over Panamanians and resources. Gentrication is synomus with greed. Gentrication is a very selfish thing. It is exploitive. It is oppresive. The only ones who benefit from gentrication are those able to gentrify. A lot of Expats in Panama have no conscience. Shame on any who think a $1.25 minimum wage is OK while they sit in their large air conditioned houses in a country not their own while their minimum wage gardner is out in the hot sun trimming their garden or their minimum wage maid cleans their toilets.
While I don't agree w/ everything stated I understand and respect the perspective. I Don believe it is an attitude (or some would say a spiritual... or lack of) problem but it is also a problem that the government could quickly correct if they wanted to. It appears by the laws here the government invites bug money to come here and do what they want....from what little I have seen and read that is what I think....so far.
@@TheYarbros Thanks! I figured it out after watching more of your videos. Although I'm American, I grew up in Panama in the former Canal Zone (that big hill by Panama City). I'm thinking of retiring there. The U.S. has really gone down hill in the last 5 years. Although Panama isn't perfect, it's my favorite place ever. Great outdoor activities, lots of culture and no crazy people running around with guns killing people. You guys should go back!!
Great, great video!! We visited Panama City during a layover, but like yall said, only a stopover. It wasn't long enough. Would love to go back and experience the fullness of the city. Looking forward to your next video. 🙂
Thanks for hanging out and enjoying the vid guys! It's def worth a little time and we are looking fwd to going deeper and showcasing this country. Thanks again for rolling with us!
Wow I loved everything about this video ! I booked a stopover in Panama thanks to you guys. To be honest I had never considered visiting! Now I know what to see and wish I could stay longer! Panama Tourism should work with you ! I'll mention you if I end up in one of the places you mentioned in the video. Thank you 🙏🏾
Hey! I hope you get to eat a lot of different food!!! From home cooking to firmer, and even the national fast food like food trucks and even Pio Pío...
I see yall upping your video content, creativity and talent. Well done Yarbros. Sooo looking forward to this next phase and seeing what great things come for you both. Thank you! Panama, I'm coming for you :-). BTW do you need to know a lot of Spanish?
@@trdriver430 How come the subject of poverty never came up with the Guatemala video, a country where 59% of the population is poor? Everything was nice and peachy, going by the comments. Seems like Panama is doing so well, people just have to find something wrong with it, even if it's doing much better economically than its regional neighbors. Let's discuss the one fifth of Panamanians living in poverty . Let's not even mention the almost two thirds of Guatemalans living in poverty. I don't understand it.
Same as any large city or country. I’m sure everyone in Detroit, Oakland or Chicago “isn’t living the dream”. We live without mass shootings, where kids can go to school, you can go to a supermarket without the risk of being shot. Panamá has its unique culture, we don’t need outside approval.
I have been watching you guys for a couple of years, love your informative videos and watching you both walking on the beach, it hit me what a beautiful couple you guys are! Keep the videos coming!!! Love you guys!!
Great information. My wife and I are headed to Panama City in July, from the U.S. Do we need shots, before we head there? Staying at a resort. Thank you!!!
We didn't forget about it. We talked about what affected us. If you know how to maneuver in a city...like we do its a non-issue. Every city has crime so we find it redundant to speak on it unless it's rates are crazy high. They aren't here. One of the safest in Central America by the numbers.
Why do you want to emulate 'life in the USA' in Panama? If you have to have 'life in the USA', the USA is where the best of that is, no? El Cangrejo, Obarrio, Villa Argentina, and a few more, these are the barrios where the authentic Panama City first world places are.
Thanks so much for visiting Panamá!! We're always happy to see folks from all over visit. If you'd like some additional restaurant suggestions check out The Yard and Lo Que Hay, two of my favorites! Cheers!
Yes indeed El Caribe is one of my favorite places to eat and them Ox tails are fire 🔥 also The chicken wings Pineapple ginger wings spicy 🌶 that flavor is crazy! I am working now on making Panama my home in the future. My wife is from Panama so I have family there and that makes it so much easier. Enjoy the beautiful Panama 🇵🇦 and it’s wonderful people.
Dont waste your time or $$$ in the city, I could tell you where to go but that would ruin the adventure to find the secrets of Panama'....hint my pic is one spot
Thank you for this video. I am contemplating visiting Panama in the winter, or either Guatemala. I have been watching another young ladies you tube videos about Panama, and she is Panamanian. It's nice to get many different perspectives and visuals. So gentrification rears its ugly head everywhere, and prices the locals out of prime areas. I guess there is no way to escape it, unless you can adapt to a more rustic and natural place.
You are already Panamanian citizens, WELCOME TO Panama (Where I am from) I also wanna express to feel HAPPY you are showing NICE places to VISIT Panama...for the next time, you could go to museum, shopping in some mall, beaches and pure nature.
Nice & informative! We'll definitely have to stop by a few of the recommendations and also can't wait for the upcoming collaboration with House Hunters Panama. Cheers & Safe Travels!
The word Greed comes to mind & I'm feeling you on that urge for a cup of coffee.☕ My Cafe Duran stash is done.🙄 The last time I was at Casco Viejo it was more like the building that April posed in front of. In what country did you pick up your cute canine friend? I was surprised due to travel & boarder crossing issues, but your Squad is lovely.
One thought if you're buying real estate in Panama city it would be interesting to see sea level rise projections in the area. Example of what I'm talking about Miami and Miami beach. Hyper expensive yet going underwater slowly but surely
Is a lot more to see like the old city called Panama la vieja you guys where close to it, about the people that use to live in casco viejo where relocated to government financed homes the reason why this other homes look so bad is because this is the way they force the people out live the buildings to fall apart once they are damaged people goes out and then the development start
Yes, we went there but those cuts didn't make this video. We will be going back to do a more comprehensive perspective for the people who are interested. Thanks for watching and commenting! We appreciate you!
Beautiful video as always. Thank for the two descriptions summarized in a word, each. I can’t wait to check it out. As far as gentrification, I’m sure it could’ve been done differently. It’s always sad to know it occurred; however tourists and expats will benefit since locals’ wages don’t equate to the rent. I loved the skyline.
Great video and in about 10 minutes, were able to hit on some of the hot topics and issues we as Panamanians face on a daily basis, ie. Increased cost of living. Is there a way to balance this out for middle income local households at the rate US dollars are being invested to attract foreign investment and tourism, ie. infrastructure? That is the $10k question. Well done, lots more to see and experience, please come back!
We talked to quite a few Panamanians and inflation was the hottest topic. I am now wondering if it is the same throughout the country or is it solely concentrated in the city.
This is my hometown, but i ended up coming to college up in the US and i love the change of seasons and weather. It is hot there all the time and i don’t have the money to get out of that weather, so i have stayed in the US. YES, it is a nice town, just too hot all the time…
Great editing! Mrs. Yarbos, how do you feel about being left-handed once you travel to Africa? My husband is left-handed and he is afraid of offending others.
Omg family I was one of your day one you guys are up to 36k wow and wow. So happy and proud of you two. I have been busy relocating I subscribed under another name in past. Hey guys I have relocated to Otay Tijuana just to finish taking care of business in San Diego. Guys I started a company yet I want to have more income are you guys still doing online teaching. Or do you have any remote job leads? I do not have social media at this time. Doing old-school networking right now lol. I plan to be a solo black female travel vlogger. I definitely have to stay tuned with you guys you are making moves. Did I say how proud I am of you two?🥰 One Luv ❤💛💚!!!
Yhank you for supporting our channel for so long. Money suggestions....get published, write a book, put together a recipe book...make a class for ppl to take some great platforms out here for that too.
@@TheYarbros Thanks family my company actually will be doing all the things you listed. All those things have prices to be done with greatness and not hustle. Hey guys been a while Hope your doing well Looks like a massive place concrete Jungle with some actual Jungle inside ha Take care you 2 wonderful people 🥰 Cheers from 2 Canadians living on the Gulf of Mexico J&D ✌️🇨🇦🇲🇽🙏
Hey Jennifer and Darryle! Thanks for tuning in. It is a bit like a concrete jungle lol. One article we read called it the Manhattan of Latin America. Haven't ventured to the jungle side yet!
Hi, very well presented. I came up with gorgeously conflicted. You've got the abandoned impovished people and then you have the gorgeous delights of a beautiful skyline coupled with access to whatever your hearts desire. What comes to mine is that Capital One question: What's in your wallet? hmmm 🤔I always look forward to your videos. Keep them coming. ♥
