The Supreme Court ruled 6-3 that presidents have immunity for official actions in office, giving former President Donald Trump some protections from criminal prosecution and likely postponing his election interference trial until after the November election. This is exactly correct. And in the act of an impeachment for the president is where the immunity idea lies. How? If the president has no immunity, why do you need an impeachment? You don't. You just indict him. Since an impeachment is necessary to further indict a president, the act of impeaching a president is the removal of that immunity!!! Trump was already impeached for this offense. He was acquitted. Therefore any prosecution on things for January 6th are immune at best and double jeopardy at worst! The case is over!!

per this ruling, it is now legal for a President to stay in power as long as they like by simply declaring an official "state of emergency" and this will stay in effect until the House can impeach and remove them from power (unlikely to happen if the same party holds political majority). Now add in "Project 2025" which removes most if not all of the opposition by the justice department and other "non-elected" officials not replaced by political change and instead replacing them with political loyalists.

I wouldn't pare down the charges, more charges, more leeway for the court. Any change would mean you are trying to rush things for the election. Ssm is talking about the ability of a future president or the current one putting something on the official record that is clearly a crime in order to get away with it. Otherwise just trying to do their job could land them in prison, like what happened in the George Floyd case. So this does make total sense, and this creates precident for future presidents. i.e. They don't have to be afraid of being misunderstood, especially by their political appointments, to the point of being guilty of criminal charges. But the fear of this damaging our "democracy" is a farce. We are not a democracy. Period. Any high school civics student could tell you that.

The New York Democratic Party run courts did the same to the leading Republican Party candidate. The courts on all sides have been politicized. Bith Alvin Bragg and Laticia James ran politically motivated trials based on abosolute nonsense. The high courts decision makes it less likely that this type of stupidity will continue. Bragg was extremely creative in truning a misdemeanor into a felony and then getting 36 convictions on a payment that had already passed its statue of limitation. I bet you had no problem with the NY courts.

It isn't about what is the interest that the President is pursuing. The Supreme Court's ruled that the trying court may not inquire into the President's motivation. 'Interest' is another word for 'motivation'. The ruling's operative word was 'official'.

This ruling has made every President King. The Supreme Court ruled to help Trump but this ruling also applies to President Biden. Pres. Biden as of today has a lot more power and he needs to use it.

Exactly, pack the damn courts. It is time to stop playing softball and play hardball. This Supreme Court has gone rogue. There are no more core equal branches. The 6 justices are corrupt as they come. Judge Eileen Cannon in FL is going to throw the case against him out bcz of the Supreme courts ruling. She's already been in his corner. Please vote Blue regardless of your party affiliation. Save Democracy if not for you, but for children and your children's children and their children. We can not let this wannabe dictator get near our Whitehouse ever again.
