HELLO! In this video I share with you the tips on what to NOT buy in your first apartment. There are a lot of household items that people think are necessities but you can actually live without. This video emphasises the importance of minimalism and reminds you that we can live with a lot less. This is something I love doing and I hope you all enjoy!

The syain brother if your parents are really that bad, as in they are physically or mentally abusive and dangerous, then you could get emancipated. In the US the starting age is 15-16. Just think about it first because it’s a major decision that might split ties with your family for good. But also remember you are a teenager so everything feels more dramatic lol. Seriously though, if your parents are violent and especially physically abusive, call CPS or talk to cops.

Commenting to say that I used to be in your position, I understand and just want to say - it does get better. Don't let anybody tell you that building the life you want is wrong. Thrift stores, garage sales and Marshalls/Ross, free items on Craigslist are your friend. I'm 26 now, doing considerably well and I attribute that to the fact that I've been in survival mode since age 14. Proud of you.

As a housecleaner I would suggest the following cleaning necessities: -microfiber cloths -swifter duster -comet,Ajax, or some form of powder cleaner for showers, toilets, tubs, and sinks. -windex because nothing else works that great for windows -multipurpose cleaner diluted in spray bottle for everyday cleaning, and wiping down of surfaces in the home. Depending on the home, you will also need something to care for granite, stainless steel, or special formulations for wood flooring. Otherwise, you’re correct in suggesting to keep it simple!

Place mats are not only used for a mess they were really invented for people with wood tables that they don’t wanna destroy there table because the heat from your plates or the condensation from your cups and it helps the table for getting nicks and scratches

Neef One well you can do that to clean stuff but I’m not sure if it’ll be enough, I think the best way to make sure everything is sanitized is to use bleach (something like 4 drops per liter of water)

@Neef One yeah no. Vinegar and baking soda don't clean nearly as well as actual disinfectants. They have plenty of "natural" ones now a days though.

I use method disinfectant. I accidentally sprayed it into my face and inhaled it and had no problems. I have asthma so I can't even go into a room that's been cleaned with watered down bleach or Lysol for AT LEAST 3 hours. I love it

These were really good things to keep in mind. Although I will say living in a family home with no dishwasher, the dish racks are essential but that's what is so great about minimalism, you cater it to your needs. What's essential for one person may not be for another. Great video!

I feel like....not all of these things are sustainable. Throwing out perfectly good items for the sake of having less doesn’t seem as sustainable as adopting full use of them and ensuring their existence as necessary

If you don’t use an item it is a waste to keep it & it turns into clutter. Better to move it along to a new home, most people don’t just “toss” their decluttered items.

I hardly comment on RU-vid videos but I had to because this video was all the peace I need before moving Josie. I’m coming from ten years of living in fully furnished apartments and now moving to one that I have to furnish everything from scratch! All the other advise I was seeing was on the many things I needed to buy! This was DIFFERENT, not busy, a real heart to heart talk! I enjoyed it! I put my kind to rest and now I can rest easy! God bless you

if you want appliances and there is only one or two of you, get a 7 in 1 toaster/air fryer combo. It has functions for oven, broiler, toaster, air fryer and more. Air fryers alone are huge and take up space in counters or cabinets. These can usually hold 2 servings of food anyways so you won’t make too much
@nana-wf7qs
@nana-wf7qs 2 года назад
a lot of people have table cloths for their tables so they don’t get ruined by alcohol, hot pans and dishes, etc. place mats prevent food from gettin on the table cloths so you don’t have to do laundry every time you eat ! :)
@multidimensionaltraveler806
@multidimensionaltraveler806 3 года назад
Place mats help to not damage the table with cups, dishes and utensils. Even to use them to ppace the main food dishes on in the centermof the table when it is a hot dish. A nice wood table can be damaged if abused repeatedly

I'm binge watching videos like these haha. Thanks for the video! At first, some of them I didn't agree with, but to be honest, they make sense! (Like the dish-rack- i do leave them there because they look fine LOL) Also, a lot of people get placemats so the dishes/whatever don't scratch the table, we have a glass table, so it's absolutely necessary to have them! :0

@elizabethlundin3112 3 года назад
I keep a scrub brush in my tub and scrub it down after every shower. Once a week i'll spray it down with vinegar and use baking soda to get rid of tough soap scum. But if you keep up with a scrubber and disinfect it every once in a while there's no need to use ajax or something like that.

Uhm... the "minimalism" part in the title is kind'of misleading. Or maybe there are more tipes of minimalism but I doubt it because then there would be no reason for one to call him/herself a minimalist if it can be whatever. I know restraint is a less sexy word but it's really what aspiring minimalism is, it's not minimalism. @@paulagonzalez5286 In Finland, the dish rack is built inside a cupboard with an open bottom so the water drips down onto the sink below. Just google "dish drying cabinet". I had none in the previous apartment and that was super annoying. Either you leave wet dishes out on the table or dry by hand.
