i know that the word organic makes it sound better, but when it comes to sunscreen, you actually want NON-ORGANIC active ingredients. "organic" active ingredients absorb the UV rays while non-organic active ingredients reflect it. that means that you're actually "baking" your skin and the ingredients into your skin exponentially more than if you used a zinc oxide + titanium dioxide (non-organic active ingredients) based suncreen.

Yeah, the studies on "organic sunscreen" show that it's pretty ineffective.

I recommend buying new types of shampoo and creams, at the country that you are visiting, because it can really be part of the fun. sometimes you discover some really cool local products you'd never see in your own country :)

damp the toothbrush and pick up a small amount of product on the brush and use as normal , lush do good ones that are natural but you can just google it , plus lush have tooth tabs which are even better as you use one and crunch it in your mouth and use as normal with a toothbrush that way you can count out the amount you need and it doesn't spill as easily plus they are not jam packed with chemicals!

I usually pack a little bit of perfume too simply because it comes in handy a lot of the time as well as nailcutters, a nailfile, bobby pins (because my hair blows up a LOT after showering and I need sth to restrain it with) and a little tube of nivea creme because it's just a lifesaver in almost every situation. I tend to always bring a little handmirror with me too though I don't keep that in my toiletry bag - need to remember to pack footpowder, aloe vera and dry shampoo next time though! :D

Since I only do carryon, my liquids bag is for only the things I can't get on my trip. I'm a sistah, so me hair products from home are a must! Anything I use to flat iron my hair I take in a size I'll use on my trip. So, 3oz is too big for many things. My conditioner, I put in a jar. Shampoo, body soap, and lotion, I buy in the airport, on the other side. I replace liquids with dry. Powdered toothpaste, deodorant crystal (winter, less sweating), and a fancy bar soap when I'll be going on several flights. I get samples of the perfume I want to wear on my trip. I keep my allergy skin cream and nose spray separate, together since they don't count in my liquid bag. I also put them in their prescription boxes so they're obviously medicine. My makeup are all powders, so not a thing.

Lush shampoo bars are great for travel! They wash your hair, you can use them as a body wash too, and they last for months! That's what I plan on taking for my month long Europe trip, maybe like two of those for my boyfriend and I that'll replace shampoo, conditioner and body wash.

Angelica Pickles all you really need to wash are the roots, then the product will wash through the rest of your hair and wash it out. In fact you don't want to wash your hair from midshaft to ends because it dries the hair out. So just lather the roots really well.

I stopped using shower gel and hand soap, and replaced them with Dr. Bronner's Castille soap. It's a liquid soap, all natural, and I use it to wash clothes too. Saves on space in bags too, because it's concentrated. Usually only need a few drops.

I haven't even heard of most of those things but I wouldn't go anywhere for more than a week without a nail clipper. A small bottle or two of Dawn would replace a lot of items...great as a shampoo (and it works great, that's why they use it on the ducks), body wash, hand soap, and even laundry soap. Dr Bronners is good for all of those things as well but you want to try it as a shampoo well before taking it on a trip. It's not good on all types of hair. Dry shampoo is basically cornstarch, so by packing cornstarch in a flip-top shaker you can carry more while taking up less room, and it's also great as a body talk to keep you cool and dry in hot weather. Baking soda is the no-poo shampoo (follow it with a ACV/water spray, you will be amazed with the results), good.for the stinky shoes (tea bags work great too, as a paste for bug bites and sunburn, in a bath for sunburn, mixed with water it's an antacid, as a whitening toothpaste, etc.

Kimberly Price 1 year late but I am replying in case other people have the same problem - you can put as much liquid as you want on your checked in bag! For your carry on it depends on every airline but it is usually the first thing you see on their website :)

Your videos are awesome, but I wanted to make an important comment. Dry shampoo is for naturally straight hair which tends to be oily. My friend who has straight-ish hair uses it to help cut down on excess oil. I have the opposite problem. I have curly hair which requires a ton of added moisture. My toiletry kit requires a lot of hair serum and hair cream.

Another tip would be to take shampoo and conditioner bars. They last a long time and you don’t have to use plastic bottles. When you buy them they come in a container so you don’t have to put a wet soap bar in your bag.

the first few times I went traveling I'd bring so many toiletries, everything I could need lol... First time I traveled to SE Asia, I imagined it as this completely uncivilised place, but in fact they use a lot of the same brands that we do and you can find almost anything at a 7/11 in thailand. Now whenever I travel I just bring shower gel, shampoo and conditioner to last a few days and i just buy anything I need when I arrive. It's really hard to judge what you'll need if you're going to a country with a different climate, for example I brought tons of moisturiser last time and I didn't end up using it at all, because it was super humid and my skin really didn't need it, plus I was at the beach a lot, so I'd use sunscreen, which moisturised my skin anyway. The only thing I'd recommend is to bring your own sunscreen, it's sooo hard to find in se asia (idk about other countries, but I'd imagine it's a similar situation in african or south american countries too) and it's so much more expensive. I also would bring some kind of gel for your hair if you're going to be in the sun a lot,your hair is gonna get soooo dry and frizzy, the gel tames it down.
@unoriginalname04

I only visited Thailand and Indonesia... Went for 2 months, if I had more time I would have done all the countries. I was interested in everything, as I'd never been to Asia and every country was a new experience. I think generally you have to be more careful in Laos Vietnam and Cambodia. I've heard locals in Vietnam are really rude and there's a lot of theft and fraud aimed at travellers. That being said, someone managed to take out about a £1000 out of my back up debit card without me noticing (they somehow used it and put it back into my backpack without me noticing it, I only realised when I got back home..) Other than that I didn't have any terrible experiences. Thailand is amazing, you have to pick the time wisely though, on the east coast with the islands, the weather may be fine most of the year, but there's a serious monsoon season in the west starting in september of every year and it goes on until february.

Interestingly enough, deodorant is very difficult to find in South Korea! There's something about Korean sweat that doesn't seem to smell as bad, so deodorant is pretty scarce/expensive in South Korea! @derekcolman
@derekcolman 8 лет назад
+nihaokellar I just wonder if you are not distinguishing between deodorant and antiperspirant. Many deodorant products are also antiperspirant but always have the info on the can. I use plain deodorant all the time because I really hate it when my pits stink, but if I use antiperspirant I get an allergic reaction where large red and itchy bumps erupt in my armpits. A good non allergic deodorant is Axe, called Lynx in some countries, but make sure it's the deodorant and not the antiperspirant one. It is for men, but I've heard a lot of women use it too. There are about 5 or 6 different aromas.

Great video. I have always had trouble with the pop top containers, like your moisturizer, opening on me. Especially if I squash it into the bag. So I always look for twist tops. Never have had a problem since I did that. I definitely want to look into the dry shampoo. That will definitely be useful. Thanks for the good information.

+dspid2404 whenever I take pop top containers, I just unscrew the main lid, put a piece of cut up plastic bag around the opening and twist the lid back up. That way, if the pop top opens, the hole is protected!

Just a tip for all the people who buy a smaller size toothpaste: you don't need to because your normal size tooth paste is already under the 100ml limit most of the tooth paste you can get in normally 75 ml .also for people who are traveling for a longer time will probably bring an extrasuite case which will not be with them on the plane can easily put inside liquids over 100 ml because there is no limit .

for really long trips like a month, I only bring my face cream and cleanser and deodorant for Japan as it doesn't seem to exist over there...I then just buy cheap stuff at my destination for things like soaps, shampoo, lotions etc.

Those small little bottles of shampoo and conditioner would last me about 4 days (ESPECIALLY the conditioner). I don't know how you get by with just that for a month or more!

It's a bit more frustrating when you use natural products and are headed out for a long time... Because if you run out, there's no guarantee that you will be able to buy more. However, I did pretty well on my last excursion, so I suppose it's just trial and error!

My one peice of advice is that you pay a little bit more attention to the products you are using and if they test on animals. I know you're vegan (I am too) so I wanted to just let you know that some of the products you have in this video are not cruelty free. For example the hairspray.

Anybody have solutions for things like shampoo and conditioner bursting on planes or going up mountains? I usually tie saran wrap in between the bottle and cap to prevent a mess but it's almost just as messy to take the saran wrap off and you have to take some extra for the trip back.

Really fun video to watch. I can't get myself to carry travel size because to be very honest...I am super lazy on stocking up and know for sure I will end up in a shower with an empty container of shampoo. And this not once...but probably for the rest of that week XD. But this is inspiring! I maybe should try it...For me a regular toothbrush is non-negotiable. I find the travel versions not advanced enough and don't feel my teeth are cleaned as thoroughly as with a regular toothbrush. Thanks Nadine!
