I don’t tell anyone except close family and friends. It’s nobody’s business. If I find someone I want a relationship with some day, I’ll tell him when the time is right.

Thanks for this, you're both darling! I've been wearing "toppers" for about 10 years. I've only told a handful of family and friends. I was interrogated nearly constantly at work before I retired recently. So many compliments, inquiries as you said. The worst and most common are people who say my hair looks so much better than it used to... what am I doing? What salon? What shampoo? I've sometimes said "Lot's of very expensive things" or "Vitamins". Then I try to change the subject. I have a dear friend who was always commenting on the change in length, the color etc., I finally said one day "I really don't like hair talk". Which is true, at least not MY hair talk! ;) My trouble now is I want to start wearing wigs in different styles and "Come out" but I feel like I've been keeping the secret for too long and let's face it, I've lied! Oh well so many more serious things in life. I'm going to get over this...

I was so worried about my androgenetic alopecia (I got it when I was 20, now 45). Before, I was terrorized, but now I tell random people and show them my lovely scalp when I'm not using keratin fibers (I'm about to buy a topper, and I have countless cheap wigs, but I never wear them because they are horrible). But overall, I simply say, "oh, I suffer from alopecia," and that's that. If you seem relaxed about it, they are too. End of story. If they want to know more, I'm happy to help. Usually, people ask me about cures or their own worries, to be honest. Nothing negative at all.

I've always been honest because it's the easiest way to go. If someone pays you a compliment, then you know it looks good,so you don't have to make up anything or have to try to remember which lie you told to whom!!🤔🤔🤔

I'm pleased to have found your channel and this video in particular. I'm trying to get brave and start wearing some sort of hair pieces/toppers but I'm anxious about suddenly looking noticeably different and having to answer questions as to why. Or I'm afraid I'm going to get weird looks. I feel encouraged after watching this.

Wow I'm so inspired by you both 💖, so young and brave. I'm older...63, and yes it still matters .....my hair has always been fine but in the last two years I've lost not huge amounts of hair, but it just doesn't seem to be regrowing. It's very isolating and scary. So I'm very glad to have found you I'm in the UK, do you think you can help me? And are you able to ship here? Also, the appointments aren't showing up.

Today it's more acceptable even fashionable to wear wigs, toppers etc. But many years ago it was not & one time when I had on a wig which was not nearly as natural looking as the ones they make to day, someone actually asked me "why do you always wear a wig"? I knew it didn't look natural so I wasn't totally surprised but still I was very uneasy. Today's wigs are just beautiful & natural, so much easier to wear although I understand why people are still uneasy when someone detects them. I guess some people just can't resist making others uncomfortable lol!

Wigs really have come such a long way haven't they! And yes I so agree, wearing wigs and toppers is just like wearing an accesory. It's just like wearing makeup!

Oh believe me, it still happens on the regular - no matter how nice and natural one's hair helper is. Living in a smallish feral town, such as mine in Australia, is a total nightmare. The amount of ugly ignorance is still very much alive and well.

I'm new to toppers..I have a lower end human topper and a mid range...but someday I'm going to take the leap and find one of your beautiful pieces for me. Thank you for all the advice and positivity. It is a scary, emotional new world. I'm in my 40s but I want to have your confidence when I "grow up", lol! xo!

You are both so brave and open! I’m 65 and would love a dose of your courage! Personally, I do not like the word “topper”. It sounds too much like the word “taupe” and conjures up funny images that I don’t want any part of. So to say you are wearing “crown extensions “ is brilliant! Thank you! And thank you for this video. It was fun, honest and helpful!❤

When people comment on mine I say “ Thank you so much! It’s a wig. Doesn’t it look so real?” People always shocked one old woman asked me to lift the front and I did and she gasped. I’m not embarrassed and never have been. I was like this day one of my helper hair journey.

I am so happy I came across this video. This is my anxiety I deal with at work. I wear a topper and the lighting is terrible. I feel like people are always staring at my hair and It makes me uncomfortable. I had a coworker ask “Why is your hair so shiny”? I said “I 😢use argan oil “and she was like yea but on top it’s just shiny. I did say Oh those are extensions.

I developed androgenic alopecia when I was about 12 in the early 70’s (I’m now 61). It started with my part getting wider and wider and people would very helpfully say to me “you’re going bald!”, like as if I didn’t phucking know 🙄🙄 There were no toppers etc back then. I got my first topper 5 years ago. I had to suddenly go from this bizarre trumpesque hairdo to a topper. I told people that I was getting a toupee because medication I was taking made my hair fall out. To be perfectly honest, nobody cared. These days if someone has the temerity to comment on my hair I say to them that I had cancer and it never grew back properly. That not only shut them up but it also makes them feel horrible. Touché

Kids at school are horrible. Im a relief teacher but I go to the same school almost every day. The kids there know me well now, for many monts. I''ve been wearing wigs for several years due to extreme hair thinning which has caused me massive insecurities and depression and I've never told anyone but my closest friends that I wear wigs. The other day at school, about ten kids (around 12 years of age) were all sitting on some stairs above me and staring at me for ages while I was walking around doing lunch duty. They called me over and started pestering me about how my hair looks like a wig, that it looks funny etc etc. They kept saying "is it a wig?" but in a derogatory way. I lied, I said ""no, its not a wig and that I have a lot of hairspray in my hair", but I felt so horrible and ugly, I wanted to crawl into a hole and die. No one at the school has ever said a thing about my hair/wig until now - I think because I've been wearing the same one for ages, it is worn out and does not look as good, so I guess it looks more boofy, fake etc. These kids gossip and word spreads fast around this school. Next week when I'm back, I know I'm going to be harrassed again by these kids about my hair looking fake and weird and that is has to be a wig. I feel so stressed and depressed I dont know what to do. The kids these days can be so insensitive and awful. Any advice please? I am not in the right emotional state or confidence to proudly tell them all that yes I wear a wig. I carry a lot of depression around it. Thank you for reading xoxoxo

When I started wearing wigs due to hair loss I knew that I would have to contend with the wig police as I live in a community where married women wear wigs and as luck would have it I'm single. Coincidentally only one person who has seen me in the year that I have been wearing wigs has thought I got married. Most people, even those who wear wigs didn't suspect I was wearing a wig ,just thought I did my hair differently.one person who I did not know well made a comment saying that if I didn't have naturally curly hair they would think my curly wig was a wig. I had just started wearing a wig and I didn't know the person well so I just didn't respond. I am a little more comfortable now so I have told people who ask me if I am wearing a wig. It's freeing to tell people but sometimes it could be awkward if it's someone I don't know well. I decide in a case by case basis

What do you say when they look directly at ur hair lace !
@LustaHair
@LustaHair 2 месяца назад
They'd have to be pretty close up to your face to notice your lace! The lace on all our wigs is transparent and undectable. But, if for some reason someone was an inch away from your hair line what you say is up to you! You could say something like 'I've been experimenting with alternative hair'...then change the subject 'oh btw I was meaning to ask how have you been dealing with that issue at work??'. Or, you could take the opportunity to be honest and share! Who knows, it might open up a pretty cool conversation xx

My hair is naturally curly, and my wig I ordered is straight. What should I say? Just that I straightened it?! Honestly I think I might just tell them depending on who it is!! Haha

Yes because the sheer horror and anxiety that so many people who DON'T have hair have felt, due to something that they didn't choose to get (alopecia being just one example)is so similar to your situation! How do you cope? Sending you thoughts and prayers.
@sara35ish

I have naturally curly hair and have worn wigs that are way. People think I had my hair done and I just say thank you. The thing is if people ask to many questions I just tell them I have alopecia and am wearing a wig because it gets uncomfortable. But it really depends on who asks.

If people aren't prepared to respect your boundaries, personally, I'd be wondering whether they are still a person I'd want to have in my life. I also think that if you don't make it seem like a big deal, they won't make it into a big deal Hope that's helpful xx
