I had a fantastic time in Bosnia, such a special country, thanks to our exceptional tour guide Vekas from Bosnian Tours. He tailored the tour to match our preferences, and his commitment made sure we got the most out of our visit and the country, something that's not common among guides in Bosnia. We explored around 15 different locations in a short span of time. If you're thinking about your next vacation, I strongly suggest considering a trip to Bosnia.
7:27 She cant be serious, he was not Muslim. Come on! How you can't be a guide in Sarajevo if you don't know that. This assassination was the biggest event of the 20th century.
GermanDokuFreak In that 1 sentance you said alot about yorself.1st you dont know history.2nd you are stupid as fuck if you say that serbs are croats and 3rd you are not even gemran if you say that somebody is racist.
GermanDokuFreak I say on kosovo cuz your country fuck it up and first want to give them a country you shit!Thats how your jewish country work.No more german pride but if God give us chance it will be soon in german peoples hands!
I'm a Bosniak but I never been to Sarajevo, I'm from Banja Luka, second largest and also really beautiful city. I like the tour and the scenery, makes me want to visit it. thanks for the video, I guess Anthony Bourdain doesn't have to guts to visit lol. He's been all around the Balkans Peninsula except Bosnia.
+B - bomb Capital of the US is Washington DC and most people never been there, More people visited New York before Washington. I just never been close to Sarajevo or around Sarajevo to visit. I went to more tourist friendly places next to Bosnia like Croatia, their city Rijeka because I have family there, and I also went to Split. Put most of my vacation I would spend in Rijeka...
My advice to you if you want to visit Sarajevo. Sarajevo has many sights for tourists, but some of the major ones are Baščaršija, the National Museum, the Careva Mosque, the Cable Car with which you have a view of the whole city. There are plenty of war museums that happened in 1992.Hrana If you want to feel Bosnian cuisine sneeze on Ćevape, Burek, Sarm and Baklava, they are traditional Bosnian dishes. Prices are normal as opposed to other countries. Something important if you enter the mosque you have to take off your shoes.
Sultan Mustafa Sultane Mustafa - What does "CRNA RUKA" or "MLADA BOSNA" have to do with the bosnian muslims (or the new so called nation created in 1995) ? Did you fight for independent BOSNIA or what ? Basically I do not wish to start here political discussions but what he was fighting for is completely different from what the Bosnian muslims fought against before! Between VERY nice movie I think DAVID that you could create a tv show of your TRAVEL GUIDE. ONE small remark I would like to make however is if you could also watch out on music you place as part of the movie as for instance certain songs you ve played in this video and the video of NOVI SAD have nothing to do with the two of the cities! Last but not least you could have also showed Serbian side of the city and also facts of the Serbian side of the story not just the islaminized version of Sarajevo of the Serbs that CONVERTED into ISLAM.
Dear David. Thanks for visiting Sarajevo. Since you drank the fountain water, we will see you again. But I owe you some corrections for your audience. First, and most cardinal mistake, which twists the historical perspective of your story is: Gavrilo Princip, who assassinated archduke Ferdinand and his wife Sofia, was NOT MUSLIM! The organization Raza mentions as Gavrilo's - "Mladi Muslimani (Young Muslims)" was existing half a century after the World War I. Gavrilo's organization was "Black Fist (or Black Hand)" and it was a guerrilla organization of Serbs who opposed the occupation from Austria-Hungary, funded and guided from Serbia. Next, Gazi Husref-bey's mosque, is definitely NOT the biggest mosque in the Balkans, as it was claimed. Yes, it is the most prominent mosque, and central venue for all Bosnian Islamic festivities. The way your tour-guide showed the coffee is drunk in Bosnia, is actually the greatest blasphemy towards coffee. You NEVER drink coffee over sugar, an don't for the name of God mix anything inside. For those who don't like bitter coffee, they are taking the sweets only after or before the coffee is drank. You first clean your palate with water, then you have your coffee, and then you sweeten if necessary. Traditional pie - burek - worldly renowned Bosnian food brand is NOT made with meat AND POTATO. Burek comes only made with meat. Every other variety with something added to the meat is NOT BUREK. And lastly, name of the city is pronounced as Sarayevo. Enjoy your travels!
Very interesting. ik was last month in Sarajevo and i was very impressed about the city. funny detail in the movie that you didnt mention the house at 6:17 its called "inat Kuca"it means stubborn house or challenging house, because in the old time the house was build on the place where the national & university library is. the house had to be demolished, but the owner was so stubborn, he replaced the house brick by brick to the other side of the kanal. Now its a restaurant and they have the best Bosnian Sahan (traditional Bosnian food)
Great video, enjoyed very much. We were there in September, and our favorite eating spots were Dveri and Barhana. I love the atmosphere and wish only the best in their future.
Im from Bosnia, tnx for coming to our country turk and bosnia are brothers ho recorded these i wanna say thanks and he gonna get sub and like and share :)
Hey David, thank you so much for putting this together because there is soooo little info for tourists about this city - I’m in Zagreb and I can’t even find a map of Sarajevo or a guidebook, even in Croatian...Hvala!
The way he pronounces Sarajevo as Sarahevo annoys the heck out of me. You're in Bosnia-Herzegovina, not Mexico. Selam and greetings from Malaysia, my Bosnian brethren! :)
It's so funny how you pronounce Sarajevo, as if it was Spanish (like Jose e.g.), but the J is actually a real J as in Yeah! I'm glad you liked it in Sarajevo!
i go to Sarajevo once or twice a year, i0ve been there 20 times or more, i always go to Mrkva, but there are many other places that make cevapi very well. Oh and i can speak bosnian of course
David you should come to Sarajevo now this winter around December or July in Summer because many things have been built and developed and the city is much more beautiful... I would be very pleased if you came again !
I think it's great he's visiting Balkan cities. Each part has its own unique food, drink and history. With respect to the barrage of comments about Gavrilo Princip, one was enough. Obviously the tour guide was nervous because she had to speak English to an anglophone. Cut her some slack, we all studied WW1 and know the right answer.
She just made a lapsus, Gavrilo Princip was a member of "Young Bosna" movement, so she said "young Muslim". I am surprised that a lot of people did not realize that is was just a linguistic lapsus....Kojih neobrazovanih seljaka....bože sačuvaj....
Davidsbeenhere thanks.By the way can u sub to my channel.I really need it.I am trying to be a better youtuber .Oh yea and by the way i speak Bosnian on my chanell :D
It was not young "Muslim" who shot Austro-Hungarian archduke Ferdinand and his wife Sofia, what was a trigger for WW1, but Orthodox Serb Gavrilo Princip did that! Gavrilo Princip came few days before that from Serbian capital Belgrade, sended by Serbian government from that time!
He was a Bosnian Serb. He didn't "came from Belgrade few days earlier"! You made it look like he was born in Serbia. It is actually really sad what you're trying here.
stajanje ehm yeah he was a bosnian SERB and he was NOT a muslim? And that‘s exactly what Joe Serpa said. The tour guide said that he was muslim which is NOT true. Nobodey even talked about him not being a bosnian serb so what‘s your point
Dear david, i just subscribed to your chanel like 10 mins back right after watching ONE of your vids. Just wanted to say, that your work is simply perfect and i really like it. Consider me one of your BIGGEST fans. Best of luck and safe traveling my friend :)
I can't believe how negative are people in the comments. That's how you present our nations to the world. Everyone can make a mistake, especially when talking in a foreign language. And I don't see what's the point of writing hundreds of comments that all say the same. We get it. Other than that, everyone who has a chance to visit Bosnia should also see Vrelo Bosne (which I think was not mentioned). It's a spring of the river Bosna with a park and a Roman bridge, and it's just a short ride from the Sarajevo . It's really nice :)
Nice film, David. One of the best 'tour' films of Sarajevo I've seen and Raza is great. And now you know how to pronounce Sarajevo properly (saw below) I can't tease you about that!! Great film, thanks!! Just one tiny thing Raza, Gavrilo Princip 07:29 wasn't a Muslim, he was a Serb!
