Yes, absolutely tell the casting director about this so that they can work with you. Remember that the CD is on your side and wants you to succeed. I've found that most CDs are VERY helpful in the audition room and do everything they can to make sure you are in a position to do your best work.
When I first started acting, I had a full time job. I would go on auditions on my lunch breaks and if I booked the role, I would take a day off work to do the acting gig. If you're able to take days off work when you book a gig, then definitely audition.
Yeah, full black would work for both. If it's for a comedy or a commercial you can maybe have some more fun with it. But if it's for a drama, then yeah, all back would be fine.
I work with a lot of teens and one of the things I have heard and often recommend is to stay away from wearing t-shirts that have a lot of print or logos on them. This can be really distracting. It can take a person out of character, especially if the text on the shirt is particularly offensive or shocking. Better to go neutral - no print.
Thank you so much Kurt. I went to Drama school in 1997 and haven't acted since 2002. I'm now going back into an industry that has changed beyond all recognition. I'm mostly auditioning now for TV and film not theatre. Your videos are so incredibly helpful and you are very warm and likeable. Thank you again xx
You are literally a godsend. Every time I google a question for whatever it is about acting a video of yours pops up with exactly the answer I needed. I have three auditions to do today and I've gotten a few before but didn't feel ready, so these will be my first that I am actually set on submitting, so thank you so much man 🙏
Great info! I've heard the same thing - wear what is suggested for the character. And yes I've gone to auditions (and Zoom auditions) and been cast as another part
Let’s say your character is based in the 70s/80s and he’s a sports person would you still wear something like Nike or would you wear something from that time
I auditioned for a lead role in a web series and they liked me so much they wanted me to audition for another role. A week later they offered the lead role to me.
I agree with you & Jordan for all the reasons you stated in the video. You always seem very reasonable, reliable, and give good explanations in your videos. Thanks!
Thank you Kurt ! Could you make a video in which you explain to us how to prepare ourselves for improvisation during a casting ? I had to do that recently by zoom and it was a disaster lol
This is late but that exact thing happened to Jensen Ackles who auditioned for Sam in supernatural and didn’t get it but they cast him as Dean in the same show, and the rest is history!
Oh that was great advice! Thank you! I think I like the idea of wearing a shirt in the color of what your character would be wearing better. Because, I had that happen to me where I auditioned for one character, but got cast as a different character too. Anyways, this was a great video! Again thank you!
I Ioved the this particular video. Choices suggested often what you should wear to get a part by implying with clothing. I think this is Great Advice that I will use during my headshot photography session. I will let you know how they turned out. Please Have a Fantastic day!🙂
Thanks for watching! I don't know what you may have seen me in. TAG? Or maybe The Haunting of Hill House or Insatiable on Netflix? You can find my IMDb profile here imdb.me/kurtyue
For film and TV auditions, you will typically be given the audition sides by the casting director. It's unlikely you will need to prepare your own material. If you want some scripts to practice with, a website called Simply Scripts has full screenplays available.
That's not how auditions work. Most Disney movies and shows will go through talent agencies to find actors. So you will most likely need an agent to get an audition for Disney. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-7sdzr-7tN-A.html
Thank you for all the great advice. I do have one question and that is about undershirts. For an audition when wearing a button up shirt, should we wear and undershirt that shows? Like a crew neck under a V neck? thanks!
My question would be, what's with jewelry? I wear jewelry evey day and I would usually just leave it on, it's not something super big but maybe that distracts someone too? What's your opinion on that?
@@ActingCareerCenter I see myself with my jewelry all the time so to me it's not discracting but maybe it is to somebody else haha Thank you for the tip!
What is the best way to get an audition without an agent? I’m just starting and I have acting classes but no actual experience being on a set and I would love to be able to land an audition and actually get some experience and be considered for more parts but it seems like nobody will even consider me without any experience…
Watch this advice from Bryan Cranston: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-lVPxwh2UHOk.html He talks about getting in the mindset of "giving" rather than "getting".
Hey, I love your videos. They help me a lot. I have a question, can you give me a recommendation for acting classes? There are chances I am moving near Altanta. Right now I leave near NYC.
Hi, I have an audition coming up for a Halloween event being hosted at SeaWorld. It's not a typical acting gig. But I was just told to where something comfortable that I can move around in. Do you recommend showing up in full make-up and costume?
For the audition, you wear your own clothes. If you book the job, typically they will provide the clothes if it is a major movie or tv show. If it is a lower budget project, they may ask you to bring your own clothes.
The vast majority of auditions for films, television shows, and commercials will only be sent to agents, who then pass it along to the actors they represent. So if you are an actor who doesn't have an agent, it would be virtually impossible for you to get those auditions.
Plz guide me what do I hv to do to be an actor I'm from India So I wanna be a part of the bollywood industry I think that I'm not so beautiful to be an actor and also I don't even know that what should I hv to do to improve my acting skills What are the basic things which I should be having to be an actor Is it expressions what only matter or something other than this Plzzzzzzz guide me Even though I'm not beautiful and might be I lack gud acting skills I wanna be an actor 😅 I want to improve myself
It's hard for me to speak about the industry in other countries because I don't know how it works in bollywood. I recommend you start taking acting classes and ask the teachers of the classes how to get started in your city.
Hi! Thanks for watching! I get so many messages on instagram asking about acting that I don't have time to look at all of them. I would actually prefer all questions be asked here on youtube so that other people can also see the question and the answer.
@@ActingCareerCenter Okay sure. I am primarily a singer/songwriter, however, I love all arts and have very recently recorded my first monologue. I am sending you a link to it, and am hoping to get some feedback. Thank you so much for taking the time to do what you do!! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-YdO2GpgflEc.html
good start! Make sure you know exactly who you are talking to and why. Make sure you know why you are telling that story to them. What is it that you want from them and what is your intention behind telling this story. Also, on a technical note, if you were filming this for an audition, you should raise the camera up to be about eye level.
