I had visited almost 60 countries before I finally got round to Australia and NZ. One of the biggest mistakes of my life. I should have chosen them first because they are, without any doubt, the best two countries I have ever been to, by a country mile. The people, the flora and fauna, the weather, the space, the laid back culture. I could live there tomorrow in a heartbeat.

Thinking that your country is heading into a bad direction is pretty common across the globe. People tend to hyperfocus on bad things and get paranoid. I don't know much about Australia, but if Europe could handle being the epicenter of ww2 and come out ok, Australia should be able to handle whatever struggles it faces rn. In my country Australia have a really good reputation. Sry for bad english.

Yes, I've been overseas and Australia is very beautiful, you must hire a car and head for the central coast of NSW, the rivers, the forests and the ocean with village towns t'out, don't forget the Sydney Harbour with all the cliffs, amazing, in saying that every State has it's beauty. Love to see more people visit, the Tableland near Cain's, such mountainous country just gorgeous, you can say it's expensive but you also can do it on the cheap. Melbourne for its art culture, Sydney for its cosmopolitan, Brisbane a growing City but has great nightlife and not far from beautiful beaches with that white sand, Adelaide and Perth travel to the greatest vineyards, Tasmania very similar to NZ, beautiful rivers and with a charm, musn't forget those beaches, yes we have it all. Come to our shores you won't regret it, most people will give you a helping hand, and if you feel sick just call in to a free hospital. I could go on but won't bore you. I have travelled and manage to see beauty in all other countries but came to the conclusion we have it all in Australia.

In the first half of the 20 th century, the drinking age in Australia depended upon local jurisdiction and ranged from 18 to 21. However, during the Vietnam War, the age was reduced to 18 on the grounds that a person who could be conscripted to fight and die for their country should also have the right to drink alcohol.

@@marcusfox2443 Even crazier is that there is a place in Brisbane City called the Queensland Club that is still men only, and Tattersall's Club also in Brisbane only just allowed women to join last year after they had a member vote... but it wasn't a clear consensus (1,405 members voted to allow women and 1,368 voted against). It's quite surprising to see in the modern day, and it might be an interesting topic to make a video about, though there might be more to it than I'm aware of. But despite that I do feel that Australia is one of the more progressive countries in the world.

Yes do a bit of research and see what turns up, could be interesting. I'm in Townsville so I see the Brisbane news. I agree Australia is one of the more progressive countries although some Scandinavian countries seem a little more so. My older brother's name came up in the Vietnam birthday draft and he was due to go over there but fortunately Australia pulled out of the war and he never ended up going . At least he could have a beer lol. Interesting to think about what my generation worried about compared to todays teenagers and the struggles of the modern world.

I am from Sweden and never been to Australia although I am thinking to go there and study! The only thing I have difficulties with is the accent, need to pay more attention to the things they say so its easier to understand americans! Need to stop australians every once in a while and say "what the fuck did you just say there?" 😂
@alishajade5621
@alishajade5621 4 года назад
Haha! I am an Australian and I can totally understand why our accent is difficult for you! Sometimes, especially when people speak quickly, even we struggle with it! Luckily, in the more metropolitan areas (including suburbs near the cities) the accent is less relaxed and so is easier to understand. I'd say just remember the 'r' isn't really pronounced (unless it's at the end of a word before another word with a vowel at the start, e.g,. 'car is'), and try to listen past the mumbling sound, and you'll be okay. Besides, people often take care to speak slower/clearer when talking to a foreigner, because we know our accent is really confusing. (I would have said that like 'Besides, people offen tayke kehh to speak slowah/clearah when torking to a foreignah, becoz we kno owh accent iz really confusing.') But your English seems damn good, so I'm sure you'll be fine at navigating our accent once you're exposed to it a bit more. I've always wanted to visit Sweden tbh. What's it like there for a tourist?

You'll find if you come here you'll adjust very quickly to the accent. The reason why you'd find the American accent easier to understand is because you've been exposed to it more. But our brains are quite amazing at adapting. After a short time being surrounded by another accent, your brain switches to that accent being the normal. Then what is hilarious... Is when you listen to your own accent it's quite shocking. I experienced this in Canada. Where I got used to the accent and stopped noticing it. And then the Australian election happened so Mum and I watched the Australian news. And we were flabbergasted by our own accent.

It sucks that we become numb to good things. Most accurate saying ever - You can have too much of a good thing. I've lived in Burleigh waters for a little over 12 years now and I'm sick of it here, I hate the muggy months, beaches are boring and I almost never go there anymore. Almost all of my time is spent in my air conditioned room on my computer. I sometimes walk Cavill Ave on the big nights (Australia day, new years eve, etc). One thing that remains true is that some shops in surfers paradise have the best fish and chips on the planet! my subjective opinion of course, though every time I'm in surfers it's tradition now that I get fish and chips and I've not yet been let down, always consistently awesome.

I am in my 60s, living in rural Victoria beside the Murray River. We have a shack 34 minutes drive from home and since I retired I spend usually 7-10 days at a time there five or six times a year, just me and my two border collie X kelpie dogs. I have been walking in the bush almost daily for 40+ years and I have only ever come across three snakes. (We have chooks and my hubby sees on average four or five in our backyard every year but I have never seen one.) Also despite travelling frequently on bush tracks I HAD never hit a kangaroo until about two years ago. The second one was in a 60km zone kms from the centre of town. (Not happy Jan!) The main rule of thumb in Australia is to just "let them be free." Our animals are as frightened of us as we are of them and problems usually only occur when we cross paths!

I've seen a lot of red backs, couple of brown snakes and kangaroos. I'd say the most dangerous ones are the roos, they love the hop in front of your car from wherever they are hiding or even if they are 50 m from the road, they'll rush to cross in front of you as you're passing. I would only like roos if they were fly eaters which they're not, yet...

@eddykate6626 3 года назад
@@JuanPablo-kj9dg I don't know if this is true or an Urban Myth. My sister lives in Bendigo and RACV thought there was an excessive amount of claims about cars hitting 'roos. Apparently RACV sent an investigator to Bendigo but he hit a kangaroo on his way there up there. It seems a bit sus though. What's the point of sending anyone to physically investigate? The Skippies don't listen. They think jumping in front of cars is our national pass time. I've hit two roos in 40 years of driving ...and the first one was at Huntly on the outskirts of Bendigo! I could have saved the RACV bloke a trip to investigate! Have a good one!

Although the nature is beautiful and people are extremely friendly, Australia is behind God's back...."Down under" as it is well said by them. It is isolated. People who grew up there are not even aware of it, as I experienced, they think AU is the middle of the world:) And the country itself is big, you drive for 10 hours from one place to another. Here, in Europe, everything is close, I love the diversity, you drive two hours, and find yourself in a completely different nation, culture.

I'm a Australian yes we have deadly spiders the Sydney funnel web, red back' s and white tail spider's lots of very deadly snake,s fresh and salt water crocodiles, stingers that is a very small jelly fish that can kill you, blue ringed octopus the list goes on and on plants that sting you with thousands of tiny needle fibers, if you come to Australia and go north Queensland the crocodiles are in the water ways but do come to Australia it's a awesome place.😁👍

I swear when tourists think of Australia, they only think of the coast between Brisbane and Melbourne. No tourist ever says let's go to perth and tbh, i haven't been over east but from what I've heard, perth is way better than Melbourne and Sydney combined. Come to perth, we have so many beaches better than Bondi. OMG thats another conversation, people thinking Bondi is the best beach in Australia which is not true. Go to esperance or exmouth or anywhere on the wa coast and it puts Bondi to shame

I completely agree. I lived in Perth until age 8 and then we moved to the east coast, and of course we frequent the beaches there. Still visit Perth every few years and their beaches are my favourite. And having travelled all around Australia for four months, it saddens me that tourists and even Australians are missing out on so much in this country.
