Hello! Don't get me wrong. I'm not a US hater. I love the US and American cities. But right now American downtowns are not safe especially after dark. I was in Austin on June 12 and left just an hour before a mass shooting on Sixth Street took place that killed one man and injured 14 others. I could have been one of the victims! America is a fantastic country but right now it got itself into a dangerous situation when every weekend you have hundreds of people getting robbed, shot at and even killed. This is not the norm. And that's why Moscow felt so different after staying in the US for 2 months. Moscow and Russia have a lot of problems , too. No place is perfect. and I talk about them on this channel. Thanks !
That's why most Americans where I live in the Midwest leave the big cities the hell alone. I live 6 hours from Chicago but would not go there. Downtown Detroit has seen billions of dollars invested and is actually extremely safe and beautiful now. When we want a night out to get a taste of big city life and get out of the nice suburbs of Oakland County we go to downtown Detroit where there is a police presence everything is nice and clean and reasonably priced for the most part compared to most American large cities. Most American big cities are filled with ultra liberals at the helm and they have allowed the cities to become Shadows of what they used to be. It's sad. That's why you're seeing a large Exodus from many major American cities, The Exodus will only get worse before it gets better.
As an American who has traveled extensively to most parts of the globe and lived abroad, I'm astounded at how little Americans know about the world outside of its borders, and especially about Russia. My comment is not about political ideology but just about knowledge. However, the less people know, the easier it is for governments to fool them.
I am an American and I have travelled in 104 countries and I am amazed how many Americans have never even been to another state; many don't even own a passport. But then there are the '"other" Americans like me. So like Baskin Robbins, I think we come in 31 different flavours. I now live between Greece and Italy, I have two homes, and I love it.
I have once met an American born late 20 something girl, claimed she doesn’t need to travel to learn the world, because she got everything she need to know from TV:(((!
Very right. Back in the day, I saw Jay Leno do a walk about in California asking young people questions about their country and about the world. They hardly knew which ocean was on each side of America , nor what countries bordered theirs. They were just living the great LA life, totally oblivious. Only one young guy could answer a question about anything outside of the US. He had learned something about Canada in a course at school. The young people lived only the internal life of their own spaces. We Canadians used to say about the States, that their minds nor their imaginations can rise above the 49th parallel. American existence! Wow!
Hello from Finland. I have only visited some provincial cities in Russia such as Murmansk and Kandalaksha. Very safe and absolutely no problem walking in the streets after bars and restaurants. Never been to Moscow but I never had to be afraid while travelling Russia.
Hey! Isn't it safe in Finland? I live in Vyborg and have often been to Finland, it is very safe there. Only the city streets at night in Finland are empty, there are no people walking. It is sad.
Unfortunately, the distribution of finances in Russia is very uneven, so cities in different parts of the country can look like different planets. If you're not tired of Russia yet, try taking a ferry to St. Petersburg, it's quick and inexpensive (just don't drink too much there, haha, some Finns will get my joke). Hang out there a little, the city is very beautiful, many consider it the most attractive in Russia. Then you can get from there to Moscow by high-speed train "Sapsan" in 4 hours. And from Moscow, by local trains, travel along the "golden ring" of Russia - the ancient medieval cities, where centuries-old kremlin and other buildings have survived. It will also come out extremely inexpensive. Then you will seriously feel the spirit of Russia. Tervehdys Suomelle ja sen kansalle!
I'm a woman, I've been only once to Moscow but it felt like an alternate dimension, clean and the safest I've ever felt. The feeling of total safety is especially striking as other major European/American cities aren't like that. The center of Moscow is lit up perfectly at night, I would go back alone without hesitation. Good job Russia
Coming from a developing world i feel so envious for how clean the streets are.. how smooth the roads are.. how clean the people look.. how vibrant the night looks.. and how relatively calm it is for being a city.. 😭
One must make the best with what one has. Try not to envy. I'm white, former middle class Canadian. Now lower middle class. Some things are my fault, other things are beyond my control. Here in Canada we are ruled by fools and self serving greed. In many ways it is a very corrupt society. I pray that this age of cruel men will come to an end. My hope is in the Lord Jesus, the Christ. Many laugh at me for such a belief. But I know it is true. Be thankful for what little you do have and make the best of it. May you find comfort in the Lord Jesus Christ.
@@luisfelix7989 Nope. The entire city is like this. Slums don't exist there. "Impoverished" areas are just areas with modest residential buildings, but they are as safe as the richest areas.
Not enough Americans travel internationally to realize how far we have fallen here. our cities and culture have been in decay for so long it just seems normal to us.
You have been taught for years that the United States has the best education and culture. In fact, this is not the case. I studied for a year in student exchange at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2008 and was amazed at the limitations of American students. They know practically nothing about the history and culture of other countries, they are not interested in classical music, theater and visual arts. Many of them have never been to a theater or a classical music concert. This is very sad.
Absolutely so! When I came to the USA in 90-s and told my view on American culture and other subjects ...most ppl didn't want to listen to me and all they did was - defense and anger.
Not gonna lie, I had a totally different perception of Moscow before watching this video and was probably due to US propaganda. I lived in Thailand for a few years and all of my friends from the USA thought Thailand was a third world country with huts and people living in the wild life and a bunch of prostitutes. The majority of prostitution is in Bangkok, that's it. It's crazy how Americans are brainwashed into thinking certain countries are not what they're actually are.
One of my favorite videos of Moscow! What great coverage of all the fun and beautiful places to visit. While people say people don't look in the eye or smile, when Russians open up they are VERY friendly and warm people. Thank you for making this great video!

In 2019, I went to Moscow, SPB, Kazan, Vladimir, somewhat like you did in the US. I always feel safe, from violence and thief. Russian cities are clean, people are mainstream, unlike US cities which have large population of underclass detached from mainstream society.
Vladimir is definitely the worst of those. It's nice on the main st and up around the cathedral, but seemed a bit seedy near the railway station -- and that's the only place I ever found honest-to-goodness squat toilets. What Kazan has done around the kremlin and up the side of the river is really great. I enjoyed going to a car race meeting at the Kazan Ring, and they have a good technology business park there too.
@@BruceHoult I agree with your assessment of Vladimir. The area around railway station is a little rundown. Even in the rundown area, I didn’t fear for my safety, and I was in a foreign country. I felt uneasy quite sometimes on NYC or Atlanta subway.
You think Moscow has mainstream people? No, this is where the elites live , the rest of Russia is a dump, but even in the smallest American cities you can find modern technology
I live in Moscow and when I visited LA it was a shocking experience. Nothing like my expectations of USA. It also felt REALLY dangerous. I literally had to cross the street every 3 minutes to avoid strange and aggressive people who obviously needed help not encouragement to continue like this. It also is dirty and smells really bad. I was afraid to walk at night, something I'd never felt in Moscow.
@@australialife2153 The high crime rate in such a large city as Los Angeles is rather strange. It's a metropolis and needs to be handled properly, which the US government and police don't do.
One thing that stood out is how wide all the streets are - they aren't freeways, but just normal city streets - and yes, did notice how clean. It really changed my perspective. Thanks.

I love Moscow. I lived there for more than a year and often go there. It is super safe, super clean. People are very nice and polite. It feels like "civilisation". I'm from Paris and Paris has become a shadow of itself unfortunately.
The 1st thing that struck me when I visited Russia for the first was the beauty of Russian women. I've returned many times. : ) Great restaurants, great Supermarkets and malls, genuinely nice, smart and healthy people. And the feeling that crime is very rare or does not exist. I have always been treated with the respect that I deserve. Unfortunately, I can not say the same about my own country.
" _the feeling that crime is very rare or does not exist_ " Except of course within the kleptocratic and criminal government circles. Crime comes in many different flavours, and many of those flavours are not visible to most members of the public.
@@istvanglock7445 That's just it, it's away from the normal man, being brought up in the poorer parts of the UK I saw car robberies, stabbings, gang shootings, multiple friends have their homes and cars robbed, I personally have been jumped by a gang and ended up in hospital after nearly going partially blind, I have since then spent a lot of time in eastern Europe, I now live in Tbilisi, Georgia, I leave my doors unlocked when I go out and have not had a single problem, I can only talk from personal experience, but when you look at the crime statistics you soon understand why for the common man the world outside of the west is much safer. Moscow looks a lot different than how most in the West envision it. U.S. cities have sadly become dirty and full of crime in recent decades, though they weren't always like that. Also, I can't help but notice all the pretty women :D
Back in 2008 I saw the same cleanliness, so people don"t have to be super rich to dwell like socialized beings, this is not a matter of money but a matter of attitude. Every metropolis shall be like Moscow. Amazing city!
I’m Russian but was raised in America. I want to go back to Moscow. I listen to a bunch of Russian music and it’s so amazing to hear the very same russian music I listen to be played on the streets of Moscow in restaurants haha.
I love Russian music. If Americans only knew how connected we are to their music. Irvin Berlin, George Gershwin, etc, all of Russian Jewish descent still influence what we listen to today.
I have to admit that Moscow is much more beautiful than I expected! Also, as an American, I have to admit to being embarrassed by the crime and homelessness allowed in American cities. That’s why I left Seattle.
I meet homeless people in Moscow sometimes. But when I visit London n 2018 I've met a WAY more homeless people there. Right in the center near Trafalgar. It shocked me. I couldn't understand how come there are so many homless people in such a rich country.

In Russia people didn't turn snacks into meals. When I was in America I saw that children ate chips for lunch every day and washed them down with gallons of soda. That all was so wrong.
The market works that way. They sell mostly all bad stuff and almost force you to get it. Otherwise, you feel like a misfit constantly. Impossible to get some juice for example. Chips actually go as an addon to sandwiches or burgers.

Thanks for you video about Moscow. I am an American born and raised in NYC, which is a slum compared to what you show of Moscow. NYC was dangerous growing up. I was mugged several times over the years even at knife point right on Park Avenue (East 90th Street). My father called the police, who did nothing to find the criminals. All the police could say to my father was, "be happy your son is still alive". That's the day my father, a German immigrant who escaped from East Germany, decided to get out of the City. NYC is still dangerous as the world could see in 2020 riots. It is still a filthy, smelly place that is crazy expensive! Everything is outrageously expensive...food, housing, transportation, entertainment...EVERYTHING! NYC is run by inept and corrupt political ideologue (Bill DeBlasio). Quite honestly, I do not understand why a Muscovite would want to live in NYC. I avoid NY and all American cities for safety reasons. Moscow and St Petersburg look fantastic to me. The streets are clean with no graffiti. The people are well dressed and care about how they look. There are no homeless. The infrastructure is not rotten and crumbling like in NYC. Thanks for your videos, they make me want to visit Russia and imagine living in Moscow and St Petersburg. I CANNOT imagine living in NYC or Philadelphia, or Boston, or D.C, or, or , or. Unfortunately the Western propaganda was and still is very strong in Russia. Lots of people have this image that everything that is good in Russia is just not good enough and in the west everything just has to be 100 times better. They believe that every American is super rich and there is just no such thing as corruption in the west, all politicians in the western countries do is just thinking on how to make lives of common people better and bla bla bla. This is pathetic, to be honest, that so many people in Russia are not able to appreciate the decency of life in Russia. It has to do with the fact that we have undergone a horrible experience in the 90's when our country merely dodged a bullet of a total disintegration and a civil war, and many people still can't believe that now we are on a rise. This will change after a generation or two, but for now it is what it is. I work in a international sphere so I meet so many Russians returning back from their emigration experience with their eyes opened on how good Russia and Moscow in particular actually is, and I also meet lots of foreigners who come to stay in Moscow because of their job and all of them only have great experiences. Of course there is a whole bunch of things that are yet to be improved and a whole lot of challenges for Russia in this time in history, but we are actually doing great and we are on the way to a great future, this is what's obvious to me.
Dude,,he didn't show the slums of moscow. Surely you are able to discern a mask placed over realities of big cities?? Really?? Everyone drives a nice car, and lives in a "utopian type" downtown society??
@@luisfelix7989 he didn't show the slums of Moscow, and he didn't compare Moscow to American slums. The comparison is about the cities not the slums. Go to LA or NYC, you will find homeless people in the city center, you will be mugged in the city. That's not the case in Moscow.

Hi! Moscow seemed to be booming with activity and the vibe was like that of a happening place. Some spots were really crowded though. I find Russians to be sturdy and athletic. I Would like to visit the land of Respected Mr. Yuri Gagarin! 🙏
NYC compared to Moscow? There is no comparison, Moscow is educated, cultured, clean, free, open safe, and friendly. NYC is none of those things. But NYC is better than other cities the opportunities while most of the US sink more every month in quality of life. Russia in the 2010s to present is a much freer place with better services that everyone can access, not just the wealthy. For starting a business or raising a family Russia is much better, because anyone not wealthy in the US is deeply in debt, unable to save with cost of living increasing daily with so many separate bills so every family making less than $150k a year just sinks deeper in debt. That trend started in the mid-1970s and has gotten worse every year. I have been in 91 countries and when I moved from California in 2000 my first choice was St Petersburg Russia. I was so sick of the division stress and anger on the streets and intolerance of different views in the US. I gave everything away, houses, cars ,an airplane and wanted to start a very simple no-frills life so I arrived on the main street of St Petersburg with 2 suitcases and $6000 and no idea of where to live or how to support myself. I could live there for a year on $6k and my monthly costs for basic living in Marin country with no mortgages or car payments was about $10,000 a month. I had been to Russia many times so I knew a lot about the city so rented a small apartment in the heart of the city and met new friends daily and really enjoyed the great personal freedom and zero stress. After a few months, I started a new small business that grew from 1 to 68 employees in 2 years. That was 21 years ago and for the first few years I returned to the US a couple times a year but each time I grew more disconnected because the society was at each other's throats and angry/dangerous. I had to self censor every word to prevent triggering someone into a rage. My last time back was 2012. Every time I did return it was less free, more regulation and "security" and dirtier and dumber. Every month in Russia quality of life improves, for everyone, and no there is virtually no homelessness. When you do see someone out on the street, they have a home but are too drunk or impaired to go home or are far from home registered in another region. It improvements are for everyone, not just the wealthy as in the US. Most laws passed in Russia directly positively impact the lower-income people most. With free medical care, university and 3 years paid family leave, far better schools, museums, parks and unequaled access to cultural life in Russia is just more humane, stress-free almost debt gree and far far more personal freedom than Americans have. The big difference is corruption. The US is the only country I know of where it i perfectly legal to bribe Congress and lobbyists even write the legislation so some wealthy get richer and more wars, while the bottom 60% have no savings, no positive net worth, and no hope. That is corruption like nowhere else. Every US city has districts that are no-go zones of violence and incredible poverty without even access to fresh food since grocery chains do not locate in run-down districts.
I love the idea of car sharing and so affordable over there. Wow, and Moscow is so clean. Refreshing not to see homeless people on the streets or doing drugs. The U.S.A, Canada and some European countries have too many homeless people but the worst I have seen was in Paris, France, whole families (refugees) living on the streets, I was shocked! Well, another great video. Thanks.
What a beautiful city. I left England in the 80's, I didn't live in London, but visited..interesting but expensive to do anything. Now many parts don't look European anymore. Moscow retains the European look & culture. I could happily live there. Lived in NZ, about one hour driving north of Auckland. NZ is beautiful too & people are generally very friendly.
Come to Russia. Here you will definitely find a place to your liking, because in Russia there are both megacities and quiet cities with spiritual warmth. But, everywhere is equally clean, safe and interesting. Russia today is the best place on Earth.

I've been to Russia 3 different times, including multiple cities in the Siberian region. I loved the different aspects and character of the country. I'm in Washington D.C and already experienced a lot of areas in the U.S. I want to move to Moscow, I'm so convinced. I have duel-citizenship (U.S & Italian). I just need to commit and research how to get it done. If anybody has any info / suggestions on moving I'd appreciate it.
I think it will be hard. Look for Chanels of Australian people (they are members of one family) who decided to move to Russia. Now they try to get documents and they make videos about it
There are a lot of people in Russia who moved here from all over the world. They have their blogs on RU-vid and you can try to find them. Their stories are different and you can learn a lot from them. 😊
SF too. Turned on a side street and all filthy tents, car fire around the corner; then these lib mayors go home to their expensive all white neighborhoods after destroying our once great cities.🤮💩
Everything he said about New York is so right. I've been there one, would never wish to go back. The city itself is so smell, so trashy, and yeah Homelessness is a big deal in the US.
You are mistaken. There are no fewer fast food establishments in Moscow than in New York, for example. The thing is that Russian people are ashamed to be fat. To be fat is not to respect oneself, it is to be weak, unable to deny oneself vices. Fat means weak, lazy and stupid. We are politically correct enough not to say this to the eyes of fat people, but we look at fat people with pity and contempt.
Thoroughly enjoyed this view of Moscow. Running counter to all the myths and propaganda put out by western media. I must admit I enjoy watching "Stop a Douchebag Now" on RU-vid.
They might not stay long. They might prefer countries like Finland where they are served like kings and can have their own beliefs and cultural features completely. No need to accommodate...
Russia doesnt pay welfare to deadbeats. That is why it isnt popular among the typical European third world country migrants and also why it is so clean and safe. There are actually a lot of migrants in large Russian cities but those in majority are honestly working people who earn their living and dont have time to pee on streets and mug locals.
A different take is that Russia's cities are normal, whereas American cities are not! It's not just Russia where it is safe to walk the streets. You can do the same in China, Japan, Korea, Vietnam, Singapore, UAE, Qatar, Turkey, etc.
Yes there are some bad neighborhoods in the bigger cities in America but the 99.9% of the rest of the country is as safe as anywhere in the world. Some would say it has been done this way on purpose. Ghettoization.
It is funny to think why here in my country, if young women clad up attractively go out for a walk at night, they are in danger of being harassed or raped. Have to say we are living in scandinavian social state that is so much advertised and praised (remember Bernie Sanders and his thoughts about scandinavia) but there still is something very wrong.
@@RandomDudeOne absolutely false. America is unsafe almost everywhere and i am not an outsider, i know from experience. Without sounding obvious, the US demographics directly tells you why. Russia has low diversity and that is NOT a crime. Look at Japanese no crime and again no diversity. What if the diversity becomes more than 3/4 of the population, look at South Africa one of the most dangerous country on earth. What if the whole country is 'diversity' only, travel to haiiti, write your will first. Ever wondered why Brazil was never able to raise above crime and poverty ? demographics.
@@DanielMcGuire I'm sure it is, diversity prefers to move to larger cities, when your city is on the map, expect diversity to start to move in, and problems to start.
I am from Africa and I live in Africa. I’ve travelled to a few US cities - ATL Dallas & Austin. I’ve followed a lot of world news (mostly western - US centric) and I’ve watched a lot of RU-vid videos. And the sum of it all comes down to following the law and order - this has become very contentious lately with all this talk of being inclusive, let’s accept everyone and everything without having standards and clear boundaries. This is liberal thinking that has run amok. It’s all politics. I bet if we go back maybe about 20 years or so you may find these cities were safe, clean and with no tents. I think there is some social experiment that’s being deliberately done in the US cities. Oh … and don’t forget the drugs, broken families, the food, relaxed laws (politics of police and race issues of course poisoned by 24hr news media). The small towns showcase the best of America.
And people are down on Russia Why ? Perhaps a bit of envy ? This was very eye opening for me. I don't listen to the news anymore much, you get better information on you tube. Like in this video. Excellent video !
It’s interesting on the observations between Moscow & New York. A friend went to NY for a week & stayed up all night. He came across a man early in the morning and it was his job to identify the dead people so they get removed before the refuse collection. Regarding the show of wealth it’s the same in London, but there’s are % of them from other Countries, such as Dubai where they have their cars ( Ferrari’s) flown in so they can drive up and down Knightsbridge, it’s become an event every year. Some of the richest in London are Russian’s.
@@marcob4630 No Country is perfect I’ve seen other areas of Russia, Moscow is the main financial area like London is to UK, yet if you look at northern cities of the UK you would see a north south divide yet it’s not the size of Russia or USA. Russia government are building the Country up but will take time again mainly due to the geographical locations, yet you still wouldn’t see situations like Kensington Av in Pennsylvania. In fact you wouldn’t see that in many countries or a gun culture where children in some areas have bulletproof backpack for school.
@@marcob4630 I've visited the rest of Russia and have lived in Putin's Russia since 2004. Provincial Russia is different, but it's not impoverished in the way people like Navalny supporters or western media have people believe. Mercedes per capita is no way to measure whether people have their basic needs met. You are the one ironically repeating propaganda here.
I really enjoyed your video! I think about a trip to Moscow and after seeing your footage I'm even more convinced to go there. Well done! And one more thing - It's impressing how skinny young Moscow ppl are. Greetings from PL.
Glad to see you back from your USA tour, I hope you had a good time. Moscow was a real eye opener. Sorry our big towns didn’t match up so well, and let me be the first to apologize. I’m a country person, so I limit my excursions severely to any big towns. I await your videos and comments.
Moscow looks way more organised and cleaner in many ways than what most of Britain does , I think we are lied to here in Britain by our TV stations without being political
Today Russia is the best place on the planet. This has been repeatedly confirmed by international ratings in Moscow and St. Petersburg. In addition, there are a huge number of other places in Russia: Sochi, Kazan, Grozny, Vladivostok, Yaroslavl, Altai, Baikal, etc., etc. Welcome to Russia - the cleanest and safest country in the world with 1000 years of history and the richest culture.
For more acquaintance with Russia, you can recommend several more channels. For example, the channel of the Australian Russell "Traveling with Russell", where he shows not only sights, but also ordinary life: shops, housing, transport, metro and much more. And also the channel "Window to Moscow" with walking tours of real Moscow without comments. Or the channels of the American Jackson Hinkle and his girlfriend Anna Linnikova, who also has her own channel under her name. There is the usual real Russia.
I live in America and it doesn’t come close to Moscow it’s stunningly beautiful and clean I had no idea Russia is so nice the people have class I have become ashamed of the USA these days
Moscow is amazing city with beautiful sights like any city's but Moscow is unique, clean, safe even at night . Its not just about the wealth, thats in the history.
