She wasn’t overly sexualised in every scene she was in. She actually had many scenes where she was quite serious, for example when it came to interacting with Adria. She was a breath of fresh air in the show and added that level of humour we needed in seasons 9&10.

Neither Cam /Vala or Gen. Landry added anything to Seasons 9 and 10. Should have put Sam in charge and keep it her. DANIEL and Telq.

The writers over-sexualized her early on and that put a lot of people off, myself included. Her lines were cringy AF and her main role was to push the flirtation boundaries of day time television to their limits. Once they toned her down and actually developed the character she became much more enjoyable. Still kind of an odd addition to the team from an in and out of universe standpoint. Not sure how much she really added to the show and in many respects felt like a goofy version of Teal'c. I can't put my finger on it but for one reason or another she felt redundant and unnecessary.

@@dalewall3726 And it didn't take long for her to be utterly aggravating. Remember Avalon, parts 1 and 2 at the beginning of season 9? Vala reappears for the first time (she had been on a previous episode, the one where she steals the SG command's spaceship disguised as a super soldier and gets lovestruck with Daniel). And being a major pain in the a$$, she manages -,using a set of Go'auld handcuffs that force the 2 persons, her and Daniel. having worn them to stay in close proximity to one another - to embark on the first mission involving the new team - not yet reunited for good, but Cameron Mitchell has a grand design about that... Anyway, in those 2 episodes, she constantly interrupts anybody speaking sense with usually completely asinine remarks. In these episodes, the adventurers are tested with cleverly designed riddles that require great concentration, while being on great stressful to countdowns with terrible consequences. Instead of STFU, she constantly blabbers and utters the first stupid remark that crosses her atrophied brain, which visibly irritates Daniel with good reason. She never cares for the others and just blocks any logical process in others' brains in action with totally childish remarks, jeopardizing the team's survival. Most of all, her complete absence of thoughtful ideas fell so much on my nerves I almost cannot watch those episodes anymore as she is at her worst. Subsequently, she is still extremely annoying, but I guess hate mail got to her somewhat eventually, because she calms down and doesn't interrupt as blatantly as in these first episodes. It's almost as though Claudia Black knew she was a sort of intruder in a well-oiled machine and she was afraid of not leaving a lasting impression or not being up to the inevitable comparisons. Well, comparing we did, but not to her advantage at all. She needed to work on her confidence issues instead of testing our nerves. As I said, those were the worst episodes. She softens up at the edges later on, but still manages to irritate me now and then. A stupid, stupid character that should never have been tolerated .

You mean the Jaundice of SG1...

It is kind of a different show. It's SG-1-b in my mind, which is why I can't understand why anyone would be upset about it. S8 did a great job of ending off the original show and its plot lines. And then we got an *extra* two years with Teal'c, Sam and Daniel for the people who wanted it.

How would you write the story of a group of people isolated far from home on a spaceship with no TV , internet , computer games , pets , walks on the beach and so much more with the constant feeling that any moment could be their last ?

@@grigorione7824 Well I wouldn’t have written it like a cheap soap opera. I would have kept it in a similar theme as that which made SG1 and Atlantis great and popular.

100%agree. Whoever wrote Seasons 9 and 10 did a sorry job compared to previous 8seasons. Should have left Sam in charge of SG1 along with Daniel,Telq.

Bob, are you DAFT MAN? HOWWWWWWW? Both her and the Character brought NOTHING TO A PERFECT SHOW except Stupidity and Chaos in those Last 2 Season's! Her Story, Back Story and eventual Set Up for the Ori Daughter Drudgery is SHITE.... Period......................... To this Day I still cannot Understand how she even made it onto the Show? I guess some Questions are not Meant to be Answered! Unless it's the "OLD F*****G THE DIRECTOR OR PRODUCER STORY????????????????????

@@GreenDragonReviews US soldiers and the US government are just as guilty of war crimes as Teal'c a soldier. He followed the orders given too him he didn't act out of greed or self interest. The only self interest he took was freeing him self and his people, Vala's self interest was almost always revolving around greed. Don't compare the two dude, Teal'c was always a good man at heart. Vala started out as a greedy over sexualised character that served no real tangible purpose. She became more likable later on but being real, he character was unnesecary and annoying.

Vala did provide them with both intel, contacts, and a edge against adria. I think that is warrant enough for a spot on the team. but i dont believe she was unessary. Frankly i felt Cameron Mitchell was more unnecessary on the team then she was. He literally doesnt have a x factor that that contributed to the team he was just there. that role could of been done by literally anyone. Yes she was a con woman but frankly that is a skill you would want on your side. She did at one point managed to steal the Prometheus by her self. That makes her pretty capable. Actually the oversexualized part was really only with daniel and frankly i loved it cause those two added a lot of humor to the show which was needed after O neill became general and wasnt there as often to provide the lighter tone.
