Some great varieties there and you've introduced me to some new ones i can look out for too. It's winter here so plenty of time to get the seed catalogues out and curl up with a cuppa on a wet day. Thanks for all the great info.👍
Thank you so much for your comment Wendy which is greatly appreciated. I’ve grown most of the varieties for a number of years so I’m sure you will find them equally as enjoyable. Kind regards. Gary
Thanks for another enjoyable video! June is when I'll be sowing my sweet corn. I'm guessing you don't have room for that now with your smaller garden. :(
Thank you very much for your comment which is greatly appreciated. I love sweetcorn grew lots of it in my allotment however as you point out I have less room in my garden now so I won’t be growing it this year. I am thinking about growing some in containers next year. There are some great varieties to try and I would suggest Rising Sun or Incredible as these are the varieties that I always grew. Kind regards. Gary
Hi I’m in UK zone 8 also and thoroughly enjoy your videos and advice. I have bought a big roll of scaffolding netting and use this on my brassica’s, in your opinion does this also work well against carrot fly? I find different types of netting becomes very expensive. I have raised beds which helps so I have been told as carrot fly can only fly a certain height. Thank you
Thank you very much for your comment Suzanne which is greatly appreciated. I’m really pleased you enjoy my videos. The scaffold netting is very fine and will definitely help with carrot fly. Also, as you point out carrot fly only fly at very low levels so the raised sides in a raised bed will also help. Netting can be expensive although over its lifetime it often works out very cost effective as it is used multiple times over many years. I hope this answers your question and kind regards. Gary
Thank you very much for your comment Geoffrey which is greatly appreciated. I literally bought my first lot of peat free compost a few days ago and I will definitely make a comparison video as you suggest. Kind regards. Gary
Thanks Gary, as always very helpful and informative. Question please Gary, would I be able to sow some parsnip, or am I to late to sow. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you very much for your comment Sheila which is greatly appreciated. You can still sow parsnips directly outside until around mid-June so you should will still be ok. Make sure the ground is well prepared and as fine as possible. Parsnip seeds are a little slow to germinate compared to many other veg seeds but with the warmer temperatures this will help. Kind regards. Gary
