for a drinking episode you guys could get fan questions and treat it as a “truth or drink”! if you can’t answer the question or don’t want to you have to take a drink
David is pretty right about everyone acting like Jerry was stupid. I think that’s a pretty big stereotype for fathers on Disney, I guess they’re the ones everyone is supposed to laugh at and make fun of. This became more prominent for Jerry in season 3 and 4, but I think in season 1 he was relatively serious. It seems like in the beginning he was supposed to parallel Justin and how responsible he is, but as time went on I just think they found it funnier to make him parallel Alex and her laziness and love for food (which I think works well with David’s comedic timing/delivery). Like we are told in season 2 that when Jerry had magic, he was most like Justin. But the movie shows him with magic and he’s being irresponsible and using it for fun. Theresa also became more a Disney mom stereotype where she became more self-absorbed. Amy and Bob in Good Luck Charlie are even stronger examples of the Disney parent stereotype. I guess it’s so the kids can get away with more and “outsmart” the parents. They also love to make fun of the parents, typically the dad for his weight, and the mom for her not being as young as she acts.
Jennifer’s perspective on Harper wanting to belong to a group was so heartwarming & I never thought of it like that. It’s beautiful to see how she embraces her individuality as the show progresses!
BEGGING FOR A MARIA EPISODE PLEASE !!!! It’s a wizards pod yes but if u could ask about the difference between voice acting for her superhero roles vs regular acting in Wizards and other especially with comedic timing 😅
Getting to see Jennifer’s personality in this podcast makes me realize even moreso how amazing she was on wizards: she is so poised , smart, classy and not like Harper at all but played her so convincingly .
I really like how you chronologically went through the episode in full this time! Sometimes you don’t talk very much about the episode, so it’s nice how you really went into it here.
Maria playing the PERFECT 👍🏻 mother for Selena’s Alex character. I’ve met Maria before virtually during the 2nd year of pandemic: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2fvMq-1DqbY.html
I actually was a nickelodeon kid and would only watch disney sometimes at my grandparents’. So initially I didn’t gravitate towards this podcast (have probably seen 20eps of wizards in total), but god, I love seeing you two talk and the chemistry you guys have!
@@WizardsPod Well, tomorrow is Alex’s birthday, but her celebration has been postponed until Sunday due to inclement weather tomorrow. It’s funny how all 3 of the Russo kids had highs in the 40s for their birthdays this year- 40s is kind of normal for January and March, but definitely NOT May. Similar to how Carly and Sarah had similar high and low temperatures on both of their birthdays back in 2020.
@@gillysummerss Yes, I am fine. I just have a vivid imagination, that’s all. If you were wondering what our plans are, we were going to go see Dear Evan Hansen at the Benedum Center, have Alex’s birthday dinner at Buca di Beppo, and then ride the Incline and see fireworks on Mount Washington.
Acting nerds are so great. I love that you're both such acting nerds. You're actually in it for the art of acting rather than to be rich and famous. It's like when Viola Davis talks about acting. Warms my soul.
They really are so great. Funny I was just thinking about Viola Davis the other day despite seeing none of her stuff yet.. where should I start with her films do you think?
@@abi7497 if you vibe with her craft, you will truly enjoy and feel her in anything you watch where she has a significant role. The Help is a phenomenal movie, but I suggest learning her through the series, how to get away with murder, if you haven’t watched already because that’s where she got spotlighted the most and then really sky rocketed beyond that. She has had a few minor less of a hitter movies and appearances, but that’s my opinion of where you should start
I can tell how much you guys genuinely care for each other!! Your friendship is so pure and filled with laughs and love! I love watching you guys every Monday!! ❤️❤️❤️
I was totally a Disney Channel kid whenever I can home from elementary! Sometimes Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network 😂 but I always looked forward to Hannah Montana, WOWP, Suite Life on Deck, Sonny with a Chance, Shake it Up, Good Luck Charlie. Those were the days 😂
Love how you describe how set works and characters being connected to each artists. No wonder you are paid better and above everyone, your craft and work is incredible.
16:54 Maria really was great at quiet comedy! Like in the season 2 episode Wizards vs Vampires with Juliet, in the background Max has been annoying Alex the entire episode. At around 6 minutes and 45 seconds in the episode, they’re doing a family meeting in the substation, and Max randomly does an impression of The Terminator and runs off. And Alex goes, “alright he’s gone…we should pack up and move”. Typically in shows, that would be a throwaway line that the other characters ignore, but we see Theresa about to get up, then everyone looks at her and she quietly sits back down after realizing she’ll look bad as a mother to leave her son like that.
i love the character analysis in this episode!! my friends and i also analyze the show and character's motivations when we rewatch and it's a lot of fun!
It's super late at night here in Australia, but I can't help myself - I love the banter and bond you guys have so much! You guys were then, and are now, such a treat to watch
Jen and David - I haven't watched Wizards in years. Yet every week I listen to the podcast and can visualize the scenes when the two of you are ecstatically reflecting your experiences from the show. Thank you!
I really liked this podcast episode and how much Jennifer and David talked about the episode contents, themes, and characters alongside their development. I feel like they didn't do that with the earlier episodes so we missed out on some important aspects that they either glossed over or entirely skipped, so I'm really happy that they've started going in-depth with the episodes and hopefully this continues moving forward. It would be a tragedy if they didn't go in-depth in the Quinceañera episode regarding the beautiful themes and moments with either Selena and/or Maria making a guest appearance because that was such a beautiful episode for their dynamic.
David had my in tears when he brought out the chair back for Jennifer. I've been trying to find a picture of a blanket that was given to me when I spent 5-6 months in the hospital as a newborn (they handmade it) because of hydrocephalus and other complications. but I lost it when my cousin set his house on fire . I know if I find a picture of it I'ma be a mess
My favorite character was Harper and my family made fun of me for it because they’d say it’s because I’m the weird one. I always said no it’s because she’s different from everyone else, she’s the only one who isn’t afraid to be who she is, dress how she wants, and as long as it makes her happy she loves living her truth. She wants to belong to something special. She wants to be someone’s best friend, the first pick, because she places everyone first and tries so hard to keep the room alive but everyone sees her as odd for that instead of appreciating it. You can see through the show at some points she is exhausted from exerting everything and never receiving but I always wondered if that was harpers character or Jennifer’s true self peering through in those moments to say I deserve better.
I didn't know that this podcast even existed until yesterday... I've binge watched all 12 episodes and literally finished the last one an hour ago. I am so ready for this!
I just found your channel and I can’t explain how happy it made my friend and I so happy to see you guys are doing well 🥰. We loved the show as kids and I can’t wait to start watching the podcast!
Coming from someone that doesn't like alcohol, there is no rule against day drinking. I barely drink, but when I do it tends to be in the morning. I work 3rd shift, so after work it's morning time and a cold beer really hits the spot after a hard days work.
The show is so iconic and it will always will be. I am always talking to myself, I talk to the tv, objects, and my furbabies, but often I am always talking to myself. My mum always thinks I am talking to someone else lol
I would love to know why there were so many great Alex and Justin episodes where they were working together in season 1-2 and especially in the movie and why that changed in the later seasons? I remember being confused about how the dynamic changed from for example the campfire scene in the movie back to a much colder dynamic in season 3 😅 Still love this show so much! I’m so grateful for this podcast!
I’ve actually watched this episode enough times to know there’s a mistake in editing when Maria puts the boys into the lair. She doesn’t put the lock on the door, but then it cuts to her talking to Selena and lock is on the door.
I honestly can't wait for them to get to the episode where Alex and Harper try to make money for an apartment. Would love to hear Jen's perspective on the culmination of their friendship.
Love the podcast, you two are great! Idk how but the pod is so warm and friendly and I love hearing the backstory to each episode :) But David, man. You're killing me!! Special FX: real life prosthetics, fake blood etc. Visual FX: CGI, compositing like how Alex and Harper were digitally imposed onto the chandelier. Or how the magic carpet was flying over NYC, VFX!
i loved the part where jennifer explains how she tried to make sense of harper’s over-willingness to feel like she belongs in the episode! that’s the inside scoop/look that i love getting from the podcast :)
Please keep it coming with the behind the scenes info like the acting and film processes. I’m learning so much! Also, if you get a chance, can you ask David Henrie why he dipped his tea bag into his mug so many times?! 😂 Was this a working theory on a possible OCD diagnosis? 😮
I just realized that I think the loser party was inspired by Le Dîner de Cons (1998), a famous French comedy film where this rich man goes to an event ever week where they being an idiot to diner, and then there is a champion idiot each week. Crazy how older comedy inspires later shows etc! Kinda cool
i wonder how they feel about harper clearly being autistic & this episode highlighting her trust and social struggles. the reason harper believes the bully is because shes autistic, she doesnt realize people would be nice in a fake way. i completely related to that scene and it made sense
on top of that, all the times they made fun of the dad or max, it was adhd traits. neither character was stupid , just forgetful and balancing a lot at once
it makes sense with harpers special interests, in her creative clothing and her hyperfixations, social awkwardness and not understanding certain things, her family is clearly autistic as well with how they are hyperfixated in their theater special interests and social unawareness
Okay so not only is that moment with Maria and the lock hilarious, but it also starts to introduce this "dark side" to every member of the family. It shows where Alex gets her deviousness! Of course she'd never do anything bad to her kids but just the reality of being a human and sometimes having those insane hilarious impulses is a very real thing in family dynamics and it ended up being something that I loved about the show. People aren't one note, just like how Justin does sometimes break the rules and how Harper can get really angry and prove why she and Alex get along so well. For me that's why Wizards worked so well. It isn't natural for parents to just laugh off their kids' hijinks all the time, because when a baby starts crying I'm pretty sure 9/10 parents have the thought of "lmao what if I just booted this kid off a bridge so i can get some damn sleep"
LOL my favorite part of this video was the Manscape ad that David did. Listening to Jerry Russo talk about his hairy balls was something I never thought I'd hear. So thanks. LOL
It's funny I started rewatching wizards just a couple of days before the first episode! I now pace myself so that I rewatch with you 1 episode 1 podcast and it's been the best. I realize that the show meant a lot more to me than I thought, it really gave me a good example of a healthy family when mine wasn't Thanks guys
PLEASE do a Drinking Episode!! I was born in 2002and grew up watching WWP. Most of the shows OG fans are of legal age. PLEASE !!!! It would be very funny!
I know nothing about copyright with Disney - but could you print out photos to show us during the episodes? I think that would be a nice touch! 💜 As always great episode guys! Thank you!
Live stream...So we can ask some questions real time. I would know you guys are doing Wizards of Waverly Place, but you guys have great chemistry to actually talk about so much more in the world
