I love Paul’s story. Fender and Gibson are faceless corporations now And I’m very happy they added nitro finishes to their guitars and affordable S2s. Just got an SE Silver Sky…amazing. Great review Benny! And I like the binding.

@givigibson2483 I super appreciate that. That's been my game plan. Ever since I started directing and editing these myself is when I seriously upped the quality. I used to get some stuff incorrect and it makes people immediately not trust you. Every episode is thought out, I have pages and pages of notes, and I really try to figure out the best way to exemplify the guitar. I'm not Jeff Loomis on guitar, but I also hate when people just shred on a guitar. It gives me no reap reference to how it ACTUALLY sounds so I try to play little demos that actually show us mortal players what you're really getting into. Please keep spreading the word. I'm trying to make this a full time thing, which btw, I spend 60+ hours a week between filming, editing and responding. So thanks for recognizing the work. Sometimes I wonder what I'm doing when I'm staring at a computer screen at 4am editing

Very cool Benny. Every U.S.A. PRS guitar I've ever played has been pretty great, I believe that is the only guitar manufacturer I can say that about! Love the McCarty Burst 👍 IMHO, it can't be overstated how important Mr. McCarty's contribution to the development of the electric guitar has been. Gibson under his management set the bar that influenced and drove Leo Fender and others to innovate and compete in the guitar marketplace.

I have a blue one. Wish I had that pretty tobacco burst color. Couldn’t be picky; my shop only had that one color and the owner said he wasn’t getting any more. Color is growing on me though. Love the way it sounds though. Traded in my SE to offset the cost.

I love the PRS doesn’t have to stick to a model like Gibson or fender. PRS are their own thing. and would be that way you can customize whatever they want and it’s just PRS not a bad direction or bad direction

As usual, PRS has delivered another beautiful guitar. Not sure about those new tuning pegs though, and aesthetically I prefer the toggle switch down by the volume and tone nobs rather than on the top horn. Awesome job, as always, Benny…informative and entertaining. 😉

Like you, I fly the PRS flag (at a smaller budget). I have a 594 SE in charcoal and a Custom 24 SE. For the price, the 594 SE is probably one of the nicest guitars on the market, and the SE has 58/15 LT pickups which sound fantastic. My ONLY criticism is the pattern vintage neck, which is just a little beefy for my smaller hands, but I still love playing it. Have you ever done a review on the Tremonti SE? That's the next one to go on the wall. I'd love a core Tremonti, but I'd have to sell every guitar I own LMAO.

First off, this is how is starts. You'll get a bunch if SEs and if you're serious you'll start slowly moving into the more expensive stuff. The truth is, the SE stuff is incredible for the price, and let's be real, 5k is a lot of money. It's worth it...they costs a lot to manufacture, but who has that kind of money? I bought all my expensive prs' used or traded into them. Of all of my guitars I have never spent 5k on anything other than purchasing for someone else. I have heard from a few people that the pattern vintage neck is a little beefy, I guess I'm less sensitive to it since I flip flop for 100 guitars. You're totally right. I had someone come at me about it on this thread lol. I try my best to get 99% of stuff right but these things take me 40-50 hours a piece and even after 5-6 views I'll miss something like that! The incredible part is that enough people watch my stuff and catch it which is pretty awesome, as long as they're cool about it like you as opposed to "this dude says 12th fret and here we are the 15th 🤡". Bought a pair of PRS se custom guitars back in 2015 and within a years time the necks on both of them warped/twisted.

If they warped that's 95% chance it's because of the humidity you kept it in. Guitar necks don't just warp because of bad quality unless the wood wasn't dried properly and I don't buy that.

I had an SE. I bought an S2. My opinion is just get the new S2. It’s just an upgraded American made SE. Core pickups, one piece body, nitro finish. Better everything. Double the price of an SE. half the price of the core. I think it’s a great middle ground.

Have you tried the swamp ash special se. They are 🔥, ive been picking up mine over my cores, its been very inspiring for some new riffs. The one i got definitely has a song in it. Some guitars you pick up and u feel that inspiration, that how i feel with this one.

Damn dude. That's the kinda prs that makes me jealous. All of the private stock and wood libraries are cool but give me an 85 custom with the birds! What color is it? You should trade it to me. Nbd. I got 4 86s. My basses are #39 and #106. The earliest custom is in the 600s

@rosewoodsteel6656 it's a prototype? All the basses have a 9 before them and then the year from my experience. That custom sounds to die for. I have a few of those blue lined cases which are going up in value exponentially just like the guitars that came in them! That's a retirement axe

Yeah, it's unbelievable what those blue cases are going for now. I'll have to check again on the basses' serial number. My recollection is is is just 1986, as it was a prototype in 1986. I've got a couple other 85's, as well, but they are "PRS Guitars", not the customs. I have a couple of red 86, PRS Guitars, as well. The mahogany guitars are pretty sweet, imo. All in all, I've got quite a few earlier PRS's. I love your video's btw. @@TheNeuroticGuitarist

If think of song just play it forget about guitar Concentrate on the song before you know play good sound with out other bad design. I'm not say fender gibson gretsch other are not , bad just little things that made eazy to play and stay in tune and fine finish to nut frets and all . When play prs then you say ahh

I love Paul too. I think like you said he’s the modern guitar genius of my lifetime. I’m not sure I love those new tuner buttons honestly. But I can easily fix that with a set a phase 3 locking tuners. Outstanding work as always Benny!

@MatthewFant this was a demo model sent to me from PRS. I wish it were mine. But at this point I don't mod guitars of this level. I just dont because I'm a collector and I have 8 guitars with phase 3 tuners so if I don't like a prs I trade it. I've traded like 40 that I didn't fall in love with so I'm probably not the normal guy that gets one and makes it to his liking. I still have my first custom 22 where I changed the rotary to a three way and the pickups to agi lace sensors! I'm also sure I devalued it 1k

great vid, i have a 2023 custom 2408, yes its pretty, yes it sounds and plays very well, but my japanese ibanez AZ, shits all over it, and ill tell you why, the cu24 has a gloss finish and during a sweaty gig your hands start to stick to it, not so with the AZ's satin finish, the gotoh trem on the AZ is more responsive, the nitro finish on the cu24 is already looking reliced and i only gigged it a few months, it also has significant fretwear, not so with the satin finish and ss frets of the AZ which ive gigged relentlessly since 2018, the AZ is also half the price, it just wins in every way except for the looks, its a very plain jane guitar but its got it where it counts, sorry PRS, you arent all that, and because you dont put ss frets on your guitars my next axe will be the new redesigned chapman ml2 pro modern.

Depends what kind of plastic. Bakelite will, but FYI, I have 70 year old guitars with plastic buttons that are fine. I have one 47 gibson that started to get bakelite rot. I suspect this material will last for centuries dude.

I don't have an opinion on those two because I haven't played them. I can tell u I dig the swamp ash special but that I can also say prs is dropping a new prs se that's gonna be insane, so stay tuned for that. I have a review coming in mid Feb. As far as lost symphony if you go to ru-vid.com there are a ton of videos of us breaking down the tunes and what we did. Mostly cory and I talking about it. I'm currently working on new lost symphony as I type this

I had a very beautiful prs McCarty 594 wood library that I bought about 5yrs ago.... I sold it about 6 months ago because I never really played it....don't get me wrong it looked and sounded great, but after playing a few gigs with it I never really connected with it....ya know? So I kept it in it's case.... occasionally I'd hang it on the wall to look at... after several years of contemplating on selling it I finally did....prs are really amazing guitars...they just seem to lack that MOJO to me.... like it's too beautiful and too perfect to be cool😂😂😂

Yeah man, the silver sky tuners feel like they have a seem. These are def better. Did they need them. No. But one of the things I edited out of the video is that paul overengineers everything because he needs to keep coming up w new features. I get it. High class problem.

Paul is incredibly smart he wouldn't make a change unless he thinks it will improve the guitar. I do hope this material is available on locking tuners as an option. If not, I don't see it as a deal breaker. I have no input as to how they make guitars though. It wasn't a MASSIVE problem that consumers were complaining about. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

@@TheNeuroticGuitarist I don't think there's anything wrong with them, as long as they hold tune I don't really care, I just prefer locking tuners when doing string changes but every guitar player should know how to change their strings on any type of tuners. I have 3 different types right now & they all work fine. I'm sure these will be good too. 😀

I would put my Kiesel CT6 blue flame top picture left against a PRS any day. I have a prs silver sky, so not hating but I Do not see people rushing out to spend 4 to 6k for a ten top.

Dustie Waring actually explained the difference for me between prs and Kiesel because they made him a guitar and tried to convert him. He said the stability of the tuning and how fast they made it for him contributed to him staying w prs. I have always loved carvin and kiesel stuff so no hating on that either, that said, the silver sky is no reference to what a "typical" prs is like. It's a strat! Customs all the way. You said it best in one of the comments. Paul overengineers everything and while I believe somehow. these tuner buttons on a scientific level might make a difference; when I pay 4-5K for a core model I would appreciate all metal tuners that lock. I look forward to seeing all of " the tone is in the tuner button" meme's that will be coming out from this change.

Paul preemptively said that people are gonna hate it and then embrace it. If you think about it, if changing the material of the tuning button is the only thing you're gonna change, probably means you're sitting on a killer design. My first inclination was...cool, more expensive guitar with cheaper material for the buttons, but like I said in the video, I won't argue with Paul's logic. For me, it's more of an esthetic thing at this point because whether it makes a difference or not, it's not effecting my playing or my love for prs.

I'm glad Paul decided to use locking tuners only on trem models and offer some more vintage style buttons. Keeps them simple, like they're supposed to be. Not personally my style, but they fit the double cutaway astetic well. Delicate looking. Fancy.

Not really…PRS bought that machine over a decade ago. It came with the original wire…which they used to make 53/10 pickups until they exhausted the wire. Very limited numbers roughly during 2010-2012. PRS factory tour videos going back as far as 2012 shows PRS didn’t/doesn’t use vintage Gibson winding machines for production pickups.

I get that a lot. I've have gone on and off about how I feel about them. They're def more parsnickity than some other pups. When I first got a 594 I HATED the 58/15 low turns. For this demo I actually really dug them, but I have done other demos with the 85/15s and t and bs and not dug them for dirty. I put agi lace sensors into my first custom 22 25 years ago because I hated the pickups at the time. My tastes are constantly evolving. I’ll never buy one with those attached and I’m a PRS fan! Shocking. I thought they were different to the two vintage companies but clearly going that direction now.
