I’m soooo jealous of the young woman who’s in 8th grade!! To be that young and THAT interested in reptile’s/amphibians, etc., and to be on an expedition like this…we’ll done! I’m a 61 y/o woman who only realized how amazing reptiles are about 5 years ago. I have 2 Ball Pythons now and if I had known about reptiles when I was her age, I’d probably have had a reptile facility decades ago. 🦎🐍🐢❤️❤️

Hey Clint! Just a video idea.... I'd love it if you could do a video on especially tiny pet snakes, particularly the Dekay's Brown Snake, the Ringneck Snake, or the Rough Earth Snake (I don't know if anyone actually keeps those, but they seem nice, and are abundant in the wild, so I don't know why no one would keep them). I've been to the Ecuadorian rainforest twice now, and I loved every second of both trips! That said, as much fun as I had, you are definitely ready to get back to civilization after 5-6 days, and the humidity is brutal -- be prepared to be drenched in sweat 24/7 even after you just get out of the shower. But that said, I came prepared with mosquito repellent, so I did not find the bugs to be all that bad, outside of a few roaches, ants, and cicada that got in the cot. But I would definitely say it was worth it, as we had some amazing animal encounters that I will never forget!

We've measured cross country movement in meters. I admire your guys passion though. To me the claustrophobic feeling in the rain forest where you can see 3 feet in each direction is very stressful. Just wondering wtf was just beyond there waiting to kill me. We get guys with diseases that our and local medical care, have never seen before. A few years ago we had 2 guys get deathly ill. Survived. Other plus sides they were in medical journals and got new tropical diseases named after them. Oh and opfor with weapons was very low on that list of concerns the fcking flora and fauna was above them😂

Now I have kids and not a lot of spending money, but it's my dream to return to the Amazon oneday or any rainforest, and bring my kids. I like your idea to make a video about what gear to bring, but I have another idea for a video that I know I would love. I dunno if there's any content out there for this. What about a video on how to plan for amazon trips? Like how to look at all the options, costa rica, Ecuador, peru, how to find all of the lodge options and compare them in terms of cost, amenities, access, diversity and likelyhood of finding different species, safety, is it kid friendly, primary vs secondary forest, stuff like that. This is info that anyone planning a rainforest herping trip is likely desperate for.

These guys were going for a couple months or so (I don't recall) but they had a female with them. AND I totally thought of all of the challenges that would bring! I wouldn't take a woman on that sort of thing and as a woman I wouldn't want to go! I used to love the Victorian era but the more I think on the discomforts of all women endured and then to think they used a bucket to go to the bathroom, and it was dumped once or twice a day....kept in the bedroom.... the hygeine hurdles alone would keep my husband from having an heir!! I can't help but think of these things! No way! Give me flushing toilets, feminine hygeine products, no corsets and whale bones for me! If for no other reason I would be protesting and shouting, save the whales!!

So for the interviews on camera do you all just clean yourselves up thoroughly? Because you tend to look happy, healthy, dry and clean in them despite all the mess that staying in a rainforest causes.

I would die. That's all. I'd see a giant spider in my boots or shower... I'd die and there would be one less person on the flight home.

Soooo I know it's probably a terrible idea. And it's going to suck. But also, it'll be pretty miserable. And expensive. Oh boy is it expensive. So then, why am I actually literally seriously considering doing this?

How many mosquito bites did you have in total during the trip? Or just how many bug bites...

Hi Clint! I have a young niece who is so, so interested in growing up to be someone like you and the herpers on this trip. Do you know any women in the field you could recommend? A fellow zoologist, or herper, or any similar work? It would mean a lot if there was a woman in the field she could add to her collection of heroes :)
