What was the BEST MUSCLE CAR from the 80's era??

I have a 87 trans am gta with a 5.7 . Nice torquey engine but it’s out of breath at 4500 rpm . Be a good truck engine lol

I am no expert but regarding 80's muscle, why did Buick alway win drag races? The trans am shouldnt have taken top spot

Not sure where to begin 😢 why do you single out a certain year ? Example the 1986 mustang. It was not faster or quicker than the 1987 mustangs, a '87 LX 5.0 ran very high 13's stock, it was a stripped version, but a lot quicker than any stock '86😮 The GNX and '89 turbo trans am have to be at the top, followed closely by the Corvette and 5.0 mustangs. The 5.7 liter Formula and IROC Z were right there with the mustangs. The Monte SS, grand prix and hurst/olds were no where as quick as the above. There were of course different variants of firebirds and camaros with the 5-speed 5.0 engines as well. You have been a bit more specific. Your times were off as well. 5.7 liter IROC's ran mid to low 14's same with the Formula 350's. As well as the 5.0 Mustangs and LX 5.0. The TTA, GNX and Corvettes were tier 1. The 5.0 mustangs and 5.7 camaros and firebirds were tier 2. The monte SS and those were definitely tier 3.
