If you disagree with any of my rankings (or are just bored) then you can make your own with this link! : tiermaker.com/create/lego-star-wars-release-years-1999---2023-16093114 Then we can see the 'Community Rank' and I can see how far off I was from the general consensus :D
Amazing video 👍🏻 You deserve way more views for sure! I agree with a lot of your takes here, although I think the sequel years don't deserve the A tier. My only critique is that I think you should've put the prices into consideration for the ranking as well. While I love a lot of the 2020-2023 sets based on their look as well, I think the outrageous pricing on these modern sets still puts them below the legendary 2010s era. We are without a question getting the best looking sets ever nowadays (with a few exceptions due to downsizing), but the modern prices can in no way be justified with inflation (Lego inflation is way above real inflation, especially considering the fact that the materials used aren't even really becoming more expensive) and asking for 25-40% higher prices while continuously downsizing the sets is just...not nice. Another thing I would like to mention is that while we are getting some insanely amazing minifigs in the current years, some other figures are also very underwhelming and just stay below what we've SEEN is possible from this company. I don't even care about the helmet holes, but things like the missing cloth pieces, actual big inaccuracies in some figs like Commander Fox, and the lack of arm printing and sometimes even leg printing for figures that absolutely deserved these details is really disappointing to me. However, I do still agree that the current years are S tier in terms of set design and that a big chunk of the Lego Star Wars community is just overly hating on modern sets for small details. I agree that we will most likely look back on the current era of Lego Star Wars in the future thinking "wow, we truly didn't appreciate enough how many great sets we got". Once again, great video and I really hope the algorithm picks up on this. Have a nice day and may the force be with you! 😊
What an incredibly lovely and insightful comment, thank you :D Now that you mention it I think you might be right about the sequel years. I had almost nothing good to say about them so yeah they should be lower. I guess I was just hesitant to because something like the AT-M6 or Kylo Rens shuttle are extremely cool sets that I just disregarded cus 'sequels' which would've felt too harsh if I put em lower. Pricing is a super valid criticism and it's actually such an oversight I didn't mention those price hikes recently. But even aside from those I didn't want to comment on it too much because it's a big topic that could garner an entire video by itself. Plus I've only been collecting for the last 6 years or so so I didn't feel qualified to talk about things that felt overpriced from times I wasn't collecting. Same thing with the minifigure issues recently too actually. Super valid thing to consider but if I went down that path I'd never stop talking lol. It's one of those things where if I got talking about Fox's inaccuracies for example then there could be a 5 minute tangent that could take focus away from the points I was making. All the best, man. May the force be with you too :D
The only good thing about the newly introduced mechs are the minifigures. Specially with the Boba Fett one, you can get a surprisingly high quality Boba Fett, with vey high detail AND arm printing to top it off for a relatively cheap price. And that Boba minifg only lacks the cloth piece to be a perfect 10/10 minifigure, it's very similar to the Boba that came with the UCS Slave 1, although without the cloth piece. The mechs look ridiculous, but I bet they'll sell well if they include good minifigs with them.
Y'know, I love that mood board idea, that actually helped me pick which year I preferred. Happened to still be 2013 but I respect your choice too! For me, I'm just a real big Prequel and Seppie fan so I'd love to have all those figs and sets
Oh and I also should add that the helmet sets are not for me, so that definitely influenced my opinions! I think they look pretty but I like playscale stuff more! I could tell you really enjoy them so I'd also get why you'd go for 2022 instead, it's a real good sub-theme
Great video, I was honestly surprised to see how small your channel is currently. I think you’ll go very far, great Content great delivery. I did however want to point out that when talking about the 2013 wave you mentioned that the Count Dooku from this wave is the only live action count Dooku mini figure. This is not true as we also got one in the 2002 7103-1 Jedi duel set. sorry to nitpick. Again, great video!
Ay thank you :D Nitpick away I'd rather be wrong than have people pretend I'm right. Yeah that was a mistake. When I was looking for a live action Dooku figure for my collection I was surprised that he only showed up in live action in the 2013 set and the 2002 set, but because he had yellow skin and a kinda bad print in 2002 I just mentally blocked that out as an option leaving only 2013 (in my head). Woops :/
I don’t comment ever on RU-vid videos. But This video needs to go viral! I was locked in the full 30 minutes. This was so fair. I hope m&r sees this so he can cry about it I honestly can’t stand his videos anymore. He sounds like a child, while you seemed to properly critique things that make sense. Good job!
While I agree with most of the tier list, I think it was a little unfair to undermine all of the sequel era sets just for being sequel era sets. I'm not the biggest fan of the trilogy but some of them like the First Order Star Destroyer and most of the episode IX wave were really good sets.
I 100% agree, some of the prequel sets are really good, especially Kylo Ren’s shuttle from the episode IX wave, which I think is a top 10 Star Wars set all time
Sequels sets are a mixed bag. The 2018 First Order AT-ST will always be the worst lego star wars set ever, but then there are really awesome sets like the Resistance Bomber (pretty underrated), 2019 Kylo Ren's shuttle and Kylo Ren's TIE fighter
First of all, loved the video, but it's always a shame when you find a really good channel, and some fantastic editing and reasoning, but then just write-off an entire 3 movies of sequel sets just because they didn't like the movies I don't really understand your distaste towards the sequel sets, we got some great builds like the 2019 Kylo Ren's shuttle, TIE Silencer, AT-M6, Resistance A-wing and the unique X-wing designs we got. I loved the video, and this is ultimately all just your opinions, I just kinda hoped you'd be willing to give the sets a chance
2013 was NOT the best year for Lego Star Wars. 2006, '07 and 2010 are the BEST Lego Star Wars years with new innovative designs, builds, selection and variety.
21:58 i honestly love how you manage to overlook great sets like Kylo ren's tie fighter, AT M6 and star destroyer just cuz...😢sequels😢...how did we get to the point in which we are calling the monstroseties that are prequels, good? I don't thing the sequels are that good but they are realllllly over hated...also, the 2019 kylo ren ship goes hard, cmon
Yeah, I mentioned this exact thing in another comment. The point I was getting at in the video was that because the sequels were handled so poorly (to a point I really didn't like them) that any set based on those movies weren't exciting to me because I didn't care about the source material. It's a super subjective metric to rank them off and I agree that those sets really did get hard done by for that reason. I should have given some credit for sure but I think my lack of excitement for the sequels would've had them end up in the same spot anyway
