In late May of 1921, white groups attacked and destroyed Tulsa, Oklahoma’s prosperous black neighborhood, known as Greenwood, or Black Wall Street. Historian Scott Ellsworth told Inside Edition Digital that in less than 24 hours, “More than 1,000 African-American homes and businesses were looted and burned to the ground by a white mob numbering in the thousands.” Thousands lost their homes, and an unknown number lost their lives. #InsideEdition

They don't tell you a lot of things that ppl should know. It's possible that the teachers/administration only has a certain time slot, couldn't get every single incident that has happened in history , so they teach what they think matters more. That's just my opinion. We were taught about slavery and injustice but never knew the backstories behind it.

A school's purpose is to educate students, not to teach or reinforce religion upon them, plus it's illegal to do so anyways. @@draconisthewyvern3664 I’m assuming “poc” means people or color,, and i will also assume “WS” means white supremacy. However looking up as much as I could find on this incident, the WS or whites in general brought the fire and hate to the attack to where it ended in blacks losing they’re lives, homes and having the things they worked for burned down, and them killed in streets. Over a rumor..nevertheless, i think this should be talked about. History always teaches a lesson. In 1955 a African American 14 year old boy was brutally tortured and murdered off the false accusation that he had assaulted a white woman. That’s history, that i was able and did learn about in middle school. No matter how significant or insignificant it my seem to some. These stories always deserve to be told. Deserve to be a part of history. To show us where we have came from and the strength we all have to come together to make change, tell the stories of history and pray some way some how, we can make it better.

The fact that so many people in Oklahoma say they don’t k ow about it tells me we need to rework our Oklahoma History curriculum. History in general needs to be more inclusive; and it needs to show the good, the bad, and the ugly.
