hiya! im currently in college studying marine biology! the reason why our brains automatically assume this type of music to be “underwater music” is because fish love playing bells like this, so when we hear this we’re actually heaing their songs. hope this helps 😊

as soon as the bell noises came in I instantly felt like I was in a water level. this sounds like an aqua themed area so much.

If you've heard what percussion underwater (like you thunk a barrel of water) or someone playing wine glasses sounds like, that's a good bit of why this sounds "watery".

I think the back-to-back arpeggios on the piano convey the continuous ebb and flow of the waves, while the longer legato notes convey the overall cohesive flow of a body of water. It's pretty effective

I don't know how they did it, but it certainly works! The bells, strings and chords are what really sells it as a supposedly water-y theme, and this video perfectly encapsulates the pure vibes of those water-themed Nintendo levels/games. Hats off to you my man ♥️

Water levels always have the best music. Perhaps because of our love for the versitillity, happiness, and calmness of water

It’s so pretty and accurate that if I’ve never seen this video and someone I know asked me which game this is from I would say “Probably a Zelda game.”

I think it's because the big resonant timbre of the instruments mirrors swimming pool acoustics, the chorded vamp feels like floating in one place (which fits the idea of floating in water), and the tempo is just fast enough to remind us to keep moving so we don't drown or sink. Great job with this one!

I love this so much the vibes and sound selection and harmonies SCREAM underwater 🫧 one small gripe i have is that water levels in nintendo games tend to be in 3/4 time signature (because they make the character swim up fast and fall down slow) other than that I think you did a FANTASTIC job and im excited to hear a full version if you make one ☺️
