Our short film is about the castle in Vsetín. The city, which is located in the center of Wallachia, offers beautiful walks in the surrounding nature. But when it's winter and the weather doesn't allow you to stay outside, a visit to the castle can be a great way to spend a pleasant day off. Unlike other historical monuments, the Vsetín castle is open all year round. We were pleasantly surprised and excited by his visit. We believe you and your children will too.
We thank the staff of the Museum of the Wallachia Region www.muzeumvalassko.cz/ for their friendliness, willingness and participation in the making of the film.

The Vsetín castle was built in the first decade of the 17th century on the foundations of a medieval fortress from the first half of the 15th century. Its owners, Lukrecie Nekšovna from Landek and Arkleb from Víckovo, created an extensive building with a majestic tower. Her second husband, a well-known military leader and controversial figure in Czech history, Albrecht Václav Eusebius from Valdštejn, also stayed at the castle. During the Wallachian Uprising during the Thirty Years' War, the castle became the center of the insurgents, but the Battle of Vsetín in 1644 decisively ended the uprising.
Later, the castle was owned by the Hungarian nobility from the Illésházy family, and in the course of the 18th century it underwent several reconstructions and modifications. In 1833-1834, it acquired a classicist form that has been preserved to this day. Its last private owner was the company Baťa, and the widow of Tomáš Bať, Mrs. Marie Baťová, lived here for a short time
Monument in front of the castle
In front of the castle we can see the Metal monument Victims of the Wallachian Uprising 1621-1644 by the sculptor Zdenek Němeček from 1966 with the names of several dozen who died as a result of participation in the uprising and participants in the battle.
Templars at Vsetín
At the beginning of the town of Vsetín, there is the order of the Templars, who were active here for a short time and significantly participated in the colonization of Vsetín and the growth of the town itself. The first written mention of Vsetín comes from a Templar charter issued in 1308.
