The actor is of persian decent and the character is a southern persian warlord. I'd say it was perfect casting. Not to mention he adds a lot of his aloof comedy to the role. He's quite good and well cast

It started off as a New Zealand film of the same name. Worth a watch. This has the same writers. I originally put it off as I thought it was just an American remake. I’m glad I watched it because it’s brilliant!
