Seeing that I felt EXACTLY how I was feeling when I spent 4 months in Japan, not speaking a single word of Japanese before I got there. I went there because my gf was actually working there. And despite having a really good level of Japanese, when I was asking her about the content of products, it was like this. I'm pretty sure it even happened with caffeine, since I don't handle it well and wanted some energy drink without caffeine xD "It says it has a small amount of caffeine. Oh no wait, it has A LOT. This one doesn't. Ah no, forget it, it has too."

There are many chefs who will do private parties where you go to their small kitchen with some friends and they cook the meal while everyone watches and talks. Might be a way to spark someone's interest in cooking. Most chefs I've met really enjoy getting more people into food. They don't see it as competition - they see it as future customers.

Anytime I think of instant coffee, I always call it "commoner coffee" like Tamaki in Ouran High School Host Club. Jun is usually quiet so when he speaks and THEN uses that spotlight to throw in a swear, it makes it all the more surprising! These two are about the same age as me (Rachel is either 30 or 31, and I'm 31), but they can be so wholesome and innocent at times, it makes them feel so much younger. Let an F bomb drop out of Rachel though and I'm slapped back to reality and dying laughing that yep, these are regular adults, just like me 😂 Is it also weird that I find Jun's swears to be something of a treat? Something again about that wholesome image being shattered...

Yeah, it's super stressful sometimes speaking in a second language so I get what he feels and why, but he nails his English so well on videos and I hope he continues to get more confident with it. 😊

Regarding the kettle, I have a kettle that comes with temperature settings - basically if I want water heated to 80C (ideal temp for coffee), I click the temperature button until the light is on 80C, then get the kettle going by hitting the power. I typically go for 100C, because tea requires boiling water for it to brew effectively. Most of the time. (It depends on the tea)
