You gotta give nintendo credit though. They managed to make a console that can be used as a home console, portable console and even a family / party console. I understand the battery life can be a little cruddy and the graphics isn't 1080p when in portable mode but this is still a huge leap for mobile gaming and even the whole gaming industry as a whole. If you don't like the nintendo switch then by all means to each is your own opinion. The choice is yours. ;)
With a screen of that size you wouldn't even be able to tell the difference with 1080p, and the battery life isn't much shorter than a 3DS' and a vita's, as they said on the video.
Carlos Espinosa tell that to mobile phone user. I for one notice the differences between 720 to 1080. This happen because of the viewing distance between ur eyes and the screen(which normally close to the eyes). 1080 should be the standard nowdays and some people even already use 4k as their tech( from tv, smartphone). looking at today console generation, i dont think switch gonna stackup that good in home console( ps4 and xbox already in the phase of changing a system mybe 2to 3 years), but for portable divices Switch look pretty neat even with the shortcoming.

New IP? I never knew that Arms, Splatoon and 1-2 Switch are old. This is the first time Zelda is going open world. The new Mario game is in the same style of Super Mario sunshine, this means its open world unlike games such as 3D world and 3D land. Honestly get your facts right mate :^)

i hope you mean portability, because saying it has "personality" is contradictory to its boring eshop menu and general interface. Its nothing unique on the graphical side, obviously, but its unique in its conception and its bridging of console to portable device. VOCAB, its there for a reason.
All I know, is that Nintendo systems are always worth it just for the 1st and 2nd party games... I always come back to them... The replayability factor is always super high...

The only things to criticize are things all other companies do (Dlc, weak launch, etc.). The only criticism that has substance is that it is weak but, it makes up for that in portability. God, I hate xbox fans. Never do research.
You've got to laugh at anyone arguing that its not as powerful as the PS4 / Xbox One when you see it placed along side one. It's tiny. As a PC Gamer, you realize the benefits of a powerful laptop over a gigantic desktop, and for me, one should be willing to sacrifice graphical prowess for portability. In this case its no different. Fundamentally, Nintendo typically make the funnest games too imo. And personally, 3DS is possibly my favourite console of all time, for that very reason. And I cannot wait for this bad boy.
Trust me, the most important thing is that Nintendo appear to be making it easier to develop for than the Wii U - which was an absolute nightmare, so much so that we had to abandon development for it at my previous job and was the source of all the bugs at my current. And whilst there are limitations with what power the Switch has. Indie developers will hopefully have no problem making games for it, after Unity and Unreal announcing they support it. Similar to the Vita, which does have a strong indie community - if the Switch has a good install base - theres no reason for developers not to build for the Switch too. Not to mention there are plenty of games that are just perfect for on the go Co-op too. Personally, I really hope Inversus can make its way over - very cool game.

To the Haters and the waiters. Ive been through this exact same thought process, I did it with the PS4 and the WII U. I waited and waited, looked for what I did or didnt like, I moaned so much about the Wii U I only bought it a year ago. And you know what... Life is too short and how many times in your life will you get to buy a Nintendo console at launch, not many. Just buy it from the start and enjoy the ride for the whole life of the console eagerly awaiting each new game release or OS update. Ive preorded this, I'm all in, through the good and bad, cant wait!

Actually the paper in the box says that the joycons are recharging when they are attached on the Switch in handheld mode, but they won't recharge forever just to not drop the battery life of the system itself.

I like that Nintendo still tries to make party and family oriented games. Most people play games solo and if they tried playing with local friends and family instead of online friends and family, you would see a completely different side of home console gaming.

Really liked the video. I was always going to buy a Switch (Im a grown man with a job, I can afford it) but after seeing it more and more I'm just falling head over heels for this thing. It's so sexy, so sleek, so responsive and versatile... so powerful. Gosh dang the Switch is powerful. I remember seeing Vita games and was blown away, but this is on a whole other level. It's not a desync issue, watch GameXplain's plain's video it was simply an interference issue with objects obstructing it as well as other wireless signals
I'll definitely get a switch later on this year. The games on the switch look really good and the fact that it will get 3rd party support helps. I mean who wouldn't want to play some of your favorite multi-platform games on the go? I have a strong feelings this year will be jam packed with great games with all of exclusives coming out on the switch as well as PS4 and PC (I can't say for sure about Xbox One because the only exclusive that I know is coming out this year that interest me is Cuphead.)
Recently bought a PS4 Pro and I'm glued to it with all the amazing exclusives it has right now, its drowning in games. Have my N3DS for handheld gaming, Switch just feels too "Jack of all trades, master of none." to me. I'd definitely love to try Zelda: Breath of the Wild though. -Fellow PC Gamer

Marlon Brans I also think it's great for people who already own a home console and want something different to complement their ps4/xb1/pc. Better than getting another machine that does 90% of the same thing. Best way is to wait for the Switch to get more games and a lower price, while the big nintendo fans fund it through its launch.
when you say gaming is not necessary when you travel. well, you forgot about phone game. this is prove gaming while travelling is a thing. and as the original comment says, you dont want to bring ps4 while travelling. travelling doesn't mean you move 600 miles from your home. even sleeping in your girlfriend's house is considered travelling. so you won't missed out all the good stuff while playing the games. it also make you more socialized too. you can invite anyone to play the game while on the move

The 3DS has kept Nintendo alive by itself and this is combining both Nintendo's gaming development department, which means all their studios will be making games for the Switch. Which wasn't the case before as certain teams develop for handheld while the others home console. You'll also get both handheld gamers and console gamers as this applies to both. Reports has been said that if Nintendo can keep up with demands, the Nintendo Switch is on pace to outsell the PS4 in year one.
I am so excited for the switch, I will not be buying a switch at launch, but the possibilities are why I will be buying it this holiday season. AAA titles, heck just good games on the go.
I've had a PS3 and honestly I don't really miss it but what I do miss is playing with my family on the Wii so since I skipped the Wii U I decided it was time to go Nintendo again and look forward to playing with the whole family on the Switch. I'm a PC gamer so my serious stuff stays there. My only disappointment is that they neglected to include any games at all, even some sort of mini games to let you experience the unit before you got a game. Question, will the switch act like a tablet? Web surfing, video watching, etc and it appears it uses a touch screen right?

They just released Bomberman '94 for the Wii U. I loved that game as a kid. I don't have a Wii U, but If it becomes available for Switch. I will definitely be buying one.
The syncing issue on the L joycon is because of the controller's signal to the system being covered up by something. Gamexplain just posted a video on it. It also only happens when too far away from the system.
The Joycons do charge in handheld mode just tested this last night. When the batteries go red they automatically charge to half then repeat the cycle to increase more game play

If you want to charge the system while still playing it in Portable mode there is a simple solution; just purchase the HORI Compact Playstand for it (it's like $12.00) which will allow you to play while charging in the angled stand.
The cause of the Joy-Con de-sync is down to the fact that it's using Bluetooth, at a low frequency. When you cover it too much with your hand or put it behind your back, it struggles to connect to the console. This is because water absorbs a lot of frequencies and we're basically made of liquid mostly, so... GameXplain found out the blocking issue, while Blunty explained what it meant.
For the price imo it should have a glass screen not easily scratched plastic so be careful with the dock. 720p is way too low for 2017 with phones/Tablets pushing quad HD. would have been great if they put a bit of hardware in the dock to at least boost it to 1080p while on the TV...I really didn't think there was much of a market for mobile gaming anymore with high spec phones/tablets now! But by the way these are selling I seem to be wrong. Really hope it works for Nintendo and every other gaming Manufacturer! losing any of them would not be good for gamers!
I've read that the processing speed of the Switch isn't that far off from the PS4. I think it's a pretty powerful system for what it is, a hand held console that could be hooked up to a TV.
This is probably the most informative video IGN has made in years....I just feel like if Marques Bownlee and Unbox Therapy are two channels that are very detailed and helpful with only one to a few people running them, then IGN should always be as informative, if not more, in everything they do. Arnau Puig yeah they had awesome 1st party games but 1st party games alone won't let it survive. Wii U for example. It needs big 3rd party games to keep up with the competition. One thing I really wish nintendo would add is some sort of a trophy or achievement system. The reason why I and a lot of people want that is it gives people more of an incentive to keep playing and beat challenges and what not. A lot of nintendo games are one a done. Once you beat the game there's not much to do

Sorry but have you seen what other games are coming out this year? Breath of the Wild might win one category like "Best story" or "Best artstyle" but it has extremely minimal chances against this year's games.
Please don't compare the 3DS's battery to the Switch's. I haven't charged mine in like 2 days and it's still not at low battery. And, my DS hasn't been touched in like 6 or 7 years and yet it's still able to turn on lmao. The DS line have godlike batteries.

in an age where people play games on their cellphones with no buttons, there should be no complaints about a handheld that actual still uses buttons to play no matter how small the buttons are it still beat tapping a phone screen and sharing your visual as well.

GF SirJames I Gamerfuzion ps vita has a 544p screen so not really hd although it may seem like hd on a small screen. The switch has 720p screen in portable mode
Vita's game library is not the greatest at all. HD games? What's your def of HD? Vita res is only 544... Great handheld but again very few great games.
Its easy to be impressed by IGN when you always expect them to pick out the tiniest flaws the blow them out of proportion into a massive negative point. Also, a right angled USB-C cable would solve the tabletop charging thing.
As much as I like the the potential and design of the Switch, I have to take a wait and see approach with Nintendo. Especially after what happened with the Wii U...I can't wait to see where it's at 6 months to a year from now.
I loved PSP for lots of flying and racing games, I love them! Midnight club series, Burnout series, Split/Second, TDU, Ace Combat, Full Auto 2, Heatseeker... There were lots of great games of this genre. On NS I see nothing worthy yet. But I don't make predictions about failure, I wait. To those who hate this console I advice to wait till E3. IMO there will be lots of games announced, and you'll decide whether to buy Switch or not.
I play on PS4, Xbox One and PC. it's sad that PS4 and xbox one aren't doing anything new to innovate or suprise me. I'm genuinely happy with the Switch and I can't wait to try it out !
I think Gamexplain already figured out the issue with Joycon sync issues. It appears that he discovered that if your hand gets near the other, interference can occur. He proved his point by placing the Joycon behind his back and it almost doubled the amount of interference and stutter that he was getting while moving the Joystick. It appears that the one flaw discovered so far is that the Blue Tooth is either very low power coming from the Joycon or the receiver is weak, or its just saturated with so much data from the controllers. Either way, it does look like he's figured things out so it may be worth everyone's time to check it out. Honestly, it makes me wish I could find a pro controller. I ordered a second set of Joycon, the Red and Blue version since I didn't get to order the colored version with the Switch itself from Walmart. I'm wondering if the issue would also be present with the Pro controller. Either way, its going to be interesting to find out if this is something that can be improved with an update, albeit I don't know how that would happen with just software if it is a weak signal type issue. If not, perhaps there is going to be a much shorter range between the Joycon and a standard wireless controller, because on the video I saw, he mentioned the possibility of it not being too much of a problem from closer to the system than ten foot. Thankfully I only get around five foot away from my entertainment center at all times. We'll see if anyone else can add to this info. BTW, on the video, the guy referred to himself as headless "?", so I know I've seen his video's where he showed his face, so perhaps its his same channel but an alt Character? I don't know.hehe
"Randomly de synched" Nope, Gamexplain actually tested it before blaming it on Nintendo and it's just when something blocks the receptor for the joycon. AND it's like that for both of them.
The disconnect is caused by something blocking the signal. I got a chance to try my buddy's out (he got an early one, I didn't ask since he works at Gamestop and I really didn't want to hear he stole some guy's pre-order) and after fiddling with it for around ten minutes,I realized my hands must have blocked some of the signal (NOTE: I'm 6'4" and have massive hands, although it seems like a problem for average consumers too, just figured I should point out I have abnormally large hands, which could mean the problem wouldn't apply to many).
