I was worried about it being a Ducati cup this year, but it has been anything but that so far. Unpredictable mayhem so far. As for Dani, what an amazing 48KG legend that retired early the way I see things.

what were the circumstances that allowed the KTM factory team have a 3rd rider? Why can't other teams do this?

The rules allow each factory to run a wildcard or extra rider 3 times in a season. It is up to the teams if they use this or not but it obviously has development benefits.
