6 months down the line, Asus seems to have heard your complaints. The intel model now has full SD card, upgradable RAM with 16 GB soldered on board and additional SSD slot as well.
just bought an intel but can´t see any of these improvements an important difference between amd an intel version i heard of is that the amd version isn´t possible to be loaded via usb-c while the intel version supports this ( i can confirm this feature for intel version, which is important because you can charge it with a standard powerbank or any mobile phone charger)
Did you end up buying it? What do you think about the laptop? I'm thinking of getting the Vivobook 16X i7-12700H, 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD, RTX 3050 soon, it also has FULL SD Card slot. @@ShadyRadaideh
Thank you for your wonderful review again. I just reject the laptop straight away if it doesn’t have a full sized SD card slot. They say these laptops are for creators. How? Even regular people nowadays need the SD card slot. It is really frustrating that most of the manufacturers missing the point and could not fit an SD card slot even in a 16" laptop. 😏
Hey Ben. The vivobook pro 16x 2023 has everything you asked for and more. The presentation from asus is perfect but still can't wait to see your unboxing and review.
Yep I just got one and I love it as a video creator asus put in not a full size sd card slot but it's uhs type 2 😮 wow never seen a laptop with THAT 🎉 WAY TO GO ASUS
I had this Laptop ordered for testing and I have to say though as nice as it may be, the I/O Ports are an absolute no go for me. Not only are the USB Type A ports only USB 2.0 and the HDMI Port only 1.4 but also the USB-C Port on the AMD 5900HX version does not support DisplayPort neither PowerDelivery or Thunderbolt. So you cannot charge it with USB-C, cannot connect TB Dockingstation or connect a 2nd screen via USB-C and since the HDMI 1.4 is also limited with resolution and frame rate support you can basically not connect ANY external display apart from a lets say... beamer in a conference room or some comparable basic monitor with FHD 60 Hz. This is not acceptable for 2022 I don't understand what ASUS was thinking by not adding PowerDelivery and DisplayPort Support for the USB-C at least.
You would get all these in zenbook pro 14/16x series. Seems like a forced differentiation to charge extra by mindfully building worse features in vivobook pro series
@@janoudman2695 Intel does Support Thunderbolt 3/4 depending on CPU Generation and available PCIE lanes on the Motherboard - but AMD did not support TB at all up until the newer generation of their CPUs which were announced by beginning of this year. So unfortunately it can be quite confusing. Also i learned that some cheaper Models can Support M.2 SSD Gen4 while more expensive ones only Support Gen3 - its again with the PCiE Lanes - in this case more lanes are used for e.g. better graphics card but then the lanes are missing for M.2. Gen4 and you only get Gen3 - its exactly the same with USB Ports which explains why the ASUS has two USB 2.0 Ports instead of 3.0 or 3.2 Gen 2 .. it can be quite cmplicated :/
Hi Is this laptop's fan produce more noise as compared to others? If I use this laptop only for studies at standard or whisper mode, then there would be any noise ? Thank you.
Hey Ben, I am planning to buy a new laptop. I am looking for powerful thin laptop. Should I go with asus Vivobook pro 14x ryzen 9 5900 3050ti (2021)? Or can you please suggest anything with the same configuration. I am looking for a powerful portable.
Hey Ben , im stuck between Asus rog flowx16 and vivobook pro 16 oled both 3070ti and awesome screens. Im like a semi creator semi gamer so tough choice any hints to make it easier for me to choose ? :)) thanks
Still enjoying your channel and loving the videos! So helpful! I’m so close to making a purchase yet I wish this vivobook with the 120hz was a 2 in 1 touchscreen situation 🤔 oh well I’m only finding 120 Hz on gaming computers and I’m also looking at the ASUS ROG Flow because of the 2 in 1 situation. If you have any other recommendations that fit the high refresh rate and 2 in 1 situation, and perhaps even with the OLED, I’m open for any and all suggestions. Just can’t find all this in one place and after 2 years of searching I need to full the trigger ASAP 😊🙏👍🎉 Also I thought you could upgrade the GPU on this vivibook?
Not sure where you got that weight number but asus website says 2.3kg which is definitely a lot more than the 1.6kg you said in the video please make sure you get the facts straight! Otherwise great review! 👍
I like the battery life tbh gotta give it that i have the ryzen 9 with the 3050ti studio screen is brilliant wish it wasn't 60herts dial comes in handy when you forgot your mouse and it hella LIIIGHHTTT💯💯 and actually stays cool fingerprint magnet.. love it tho
I was considering this (32gb RAM version), but decided not to based on the built in RAM and no extra SSD slots. Went with an MSI Creator M16, 11th gen I7 version, due to removable RAM and extra SSD slots. Interesting how the M16 had such a short self-life as it's already been discontinued to make room for the 12th gen.
Funny, I bought a Creator M16 i7 16gb and returned in within two days as for me the battery life was awful, 30 minutes light browsing on the web cost me 50% of battery life, so now I am seriously lookin at the S 16X.
I have one question for you. I am using this model as my main. I have a problem with the sound quality. This model is only available with Realtek (R) Audio. So 24bit 48000Hz is the highest value. Is there any way to change it to 24bit 192KHz?
Gotta say, it's a quality laptop with a crappy design. I know that the design preferences tend to be subjective, but to me, VivoBook Pro 16X's design just doesn't convince me at all. Using aluminum for the body could make it look nice when it's closed, but when you open that lid... man it looks as if it's straight out of 2010 or something. Although I gotta admit that the rest of the laptop specs (e.g., CPU, GPU, the screen) are really nice considering its weight and size.

Can anyone help me with a photoshop issue using this version of the ASUS Viviobook? When I open a photo from camera raw into the workspace in photoshop all the colours are muted - it’s driving my crazy trying to work out the issue 😢😢😢
Please comment the external display ports external display resolution with refresh rate supported....HDMI is 1.4 only (what i recall) so no 4k 60hz but what about type c port ?
I want to buy mobile workstation for solidworks So should I wait for upcoming laptops (Is there any possibility that AMD or Intel will bring ARM based processor to give performance like M1)or should go with available workstations?
Unfortunately, yes that’s correct. It has a lot of nice stuff for the price, but also a lot of questionable components. If one doesn’t need more than what it offers it’s fine, but in 2022 it’s just bizarre seeing such outdated specs on the I/o ports.
Thanks for the review! I had this one for 5 weeks (in silver, intel i5) and sold it last week. Why? It was terribly heavy, including the huge brick charger. It was too much. The webcam and battery weren’t amazing either.
DO NOT BUY THIS MACHINE! ASUS knowingly had manufactured a defective design After only 4 months the computer's hinge has broken. They will repair under warranty, but it must be sent in. If you can afford to be without the computer for a month, go for it! But know that you will have to get it repaired within the year.
