This is why I dropped out of college last year. There's no point in learning anything when AGI is almost here. Imagine getting locked into a career for 40 years when it'll be replaced in 2. It will be rough until then for me, but it was the right decision, the landscape is changing.

Tesla's Optimus is primarily designed for hands-on practical tasks, not necessarily generating text or a response in human language. As for your other questions which involve reading, reasoning, thinking and having feelings etc. Well it's uncertain. Deep Learning, particularly Neural Networks are far from achieving human-level thinking, reasoning and what not. You see, Neural Networks are inspired by our brains, but that is not to mistake them for our brains, they are a over-simplification of the human brain. That is why, they cannot think, reason or even have feelings the same way we do. A suggested approach to achieving human-like or completely humane machine would be arguably emulating the human brain, it's neurons, the way they precisely work. That is what will make these AIs truly human. Not biological, just artificial.

Thank christ that my job is probably gonna be one of the last ones replaced by machines. Piano tuning/repair is so remarkably difficult to quantize in any meaningful way I can’t see any system being able to do the work, at least for probably a decade.

Unfortunately no one bothers playing real pianos for profit anymore. You can already generate piano parts with a prompt. Even before this most of the musicians I know just use their keyboard to generate MIDI and slap a piano VSTi on it. And it sounds incredible

But will they put UBI before 2030!? Many pioneers including billionaires, scientists, Nobel Prize winners, engineers, architects, analysts and so on and so forth... almost all agree on the fact that we will have AGI in 2027 and ASI in 2029 and they look and evaluating the exponential technological acceleration curve, I wonder why they have not yet implemented universal basic income to anticipate the trends that will come from it. Just to name one, Elon Musk says that we will have AGI as early as 2025 and ASI in 2029.

I’m sure the world’s governments will likely wait until the last possible minute and even well after these technologies have greatly disrupted the current paradigm. Until they worry about a possible uprising from the unprecedented amount of displaced people, they won’t likely make a single move in that direction.

I agree, these videos are somewhat overexaggerating what current AI can do or is capable of. We are probably not too far from AGI, but still. The assumptions made need to be looked upon closely.

It's uncertain that we'll have an AGI that outperforms humans in every task. An AGI should not be limited to its training dataset, instead it should adapt to new experiences. For example, if the dataset does not cover how to open a door guide/instructions (on how to), then the AGI would have to discover how to open the door for itself. Achieving this could become a reality if Liquid Neural Networks become more popular.

Current AI goes through a lot of trial and error during training and testing phase to produce something useful. AGI needs to be able to come up with meaningful ideas/things without training/testing. In some way this is like having a subjective experience (sentience, as per some academic resources on the term "AGI"), but it's still far off.

I don’t think I have a reason to live after this happens. Without the ability to inspire people with creativity or make art that is literally worthless, I believe that I have lost all purpose for existing. Art will become meaningless and everything that we consume will be artificial and fake. I would rather work hard for the rest of my life and trudge through endless uninspired and poor human creations just to find something truly meaningful than be fed endless slop from machines built to cater to my mind and what I enjoy. This future many of you are excited for is purgatory

I'm sorry you feel this way but we're still human and alive at the end of the day and can make our own choices. There will still be creative types who create because they enjoy creating art. It's just that the end result won't be profitable... It may be a good thing because it'll squeeze those who are just in it for profit to prompt AI and be lazy like everyone else. Let's face it - we're already saturated with content as it is.
