What is the best WINDOW TINT Roll Size to purchase for a New Tinter in 2020 if your just getting started or still trying to think what will work the best to use when you Tint vehicles. There are a lot of options when buying tint rolls that it can get confusing. I struggled for a while to find a roll size that worked when window tinting. It was a lot of trial and error but in this video I think I have some good reasons as to what roll size works and why that will help you be more efficient in 2020.

Well you didn't say sedan or coupe? Sedan 36", will probably do it. Coupr no clue how tall the back glass is. Take a ruler measure it and then you'll know 👍🏾

Buy rolls for your market. If you do not a lot of cars maybe split a 36". If you do not a lot of front matches maybe buy a 24“ roll. I learned to buy what you use the most.

I buy from Flexfilm and Tint Club Carbon and Ceramic lines. I haul around a lot of film too, so I understand. People change their minds a lot so I've found that I need to keep most shades with me.

So i have a 2007 Honda Civic Si Sedan and i want to do full Tint front and back so what Roll Size do you recommend. Would a 40" x10ft be enough?

Well if you cut the 40" in half you can do the roll ups with the 20"s but you'll still need enough for the rear glass. I think you'll need at least 15' of film and that's with no problems to redo.

Well just a thought with the 36" most sedan rear glass are 48"s wide and you can split the 36" to get two pieces of 18" for the doors. So then I'd say around 10ft per sedan so then maybe 9 sedans to be safe out of one 36" roll. The 24" I use for truck front matches, wastes to much film doing car windows with it. I hope that makes sense?

Check out Tint Club and Flexfilm. If your learning used the Dyed film.. Still good stuff! As your skillz improve offer the Carbon and Ceramic for an upgrade. People use brands based on preference what they like and works best for them. Or maybe a brand that no one else in the area uses to set them apart from other shops.

Some companies you have to buy so that much a year.. You also have to touch have a business license or sellers permit to get accounts with the companies.

I'm sure you can tell by just looking at the Windshield and Back glass it's taller than 20"s? I explained in the video, get a 36" and that will cover rear Glass and split that in half for the sides. 👍🏾

Some people use Lexen... There are some good Facebook groups that can help. Tons of good films out there. Find a brand no one in your area uses to set yourself apart from them. I don't like to about brands since it's a personal preference to bed honest.

Hey man, I’m debating buying a 28” plotter for 24” rolls. Do you think that would cover most SUV rear windows? I don’t mind doing sedans with 36” and hand cutting those or windshields but would like to start plotting my sides and SUV rears if you think a 24” would cover most. Thanks

Well I guess it depends on where you are. I usually suggest 50% but it will look kinda dark. If you have a good chance of being pulled and cops are bad in your area maybe do 70%. It will still help.

It will be enough for the sides but the rear window is taller than 20 inches. You'd need a 36" to cover the whole back window or you can splice the 20" to make it fit.

40” is good if you work with a lot of Vans. The Honda Odyssey has a 38” windshield. I order my windshield tint 70/50% in 40”. Ive started my own business after tinting for someone else professionally for a bit. You are spot on with window sizes. Ford transit vans have 30” roll ups and those big quarters.

Fade To Black LLC yeah if I get a 2 door it’s a mustang or challenger. I’m 6’0 240. Those have enough roof to Frankenstein if I want to. I did a 14 GTR it was easy to heat/install but getting in was hell. If I had it my way it’d be SUVs, Trucks and vans all day. Shaded glass makes every job look cleaner (scrub, squeegee, stick).

Most cars take around 16ft.. And you can double cut that 30". So maybe only one???

Measure across the glass (left to right) and that will give you an idea. It's not that hard to get a rough estimate.

Measure the glass around the car see how much it comes out to be and go from there. You can probably use a 36" roll like I mentioned in the video and get the doors out of it and a whole piece for the rear glass. I don't know how much film you'll need for that Specific car but it's not hard to figure out. 👍🏾

Yes a car window is less than 18"s high so you can get two out of a 40" pull.

Find a car and go around and measure some of the glass and that will give you can idea when you do the math on how much you can do. It's hard to explain but 6" is basically a set of front windows on a truck. They are about 35"s wide and 22"s tall. A sedan is around 15' length and 36" high on the back window. So like I said, buy the rolls based on what you do the most in your area and then have some other stuff to get other jobs done.

Measure the doors from left to right depending on what type of car it is. Add that up and you can see how much you might use. Now there are some variables but that will help you get started.

Yes you'll have to run the roll from Top of the top door to the the Bottom. You won't be able to roll from left to right because it won't be enough.

It's always better to have more just incase you have problems. For a sedan sides and rear you only need around 15ft but I think the shortest roll I've seen is 25ft online.

@@toribuildz9829 I'm not exactly sure are all cars will vary depending on a coupe or sedans.. Back windows will take the most.. You have to break it all down.. I usually use a 36“ roll for cars and the 24" for trucks m

I windshield is similar sized to a rear glass. You can use the same sized roll for both. Most rear glass a 36" will fit that's why I didn't mention a Windshield. Thanks.

I wouldn’t suggest that. Most shops have a brandthey already use. That’s like bringing sand to a beach. Go to a shop and ask what they use and pick a line. They are there to help you 👍🏾

I deal with lexen bc of the price of rolls being the cheapest and best quality i could find. They do not sell a 60". Do u have any vendors that u could point me in the right direction where i can get a 60" cut to 36" and 24" that would be cost effective for a very small (as of right now) business? Honestly that might depend on how hard you promote yourself but it can be possible. Also keep in mind if you set your prices well it’s not about how many jobs. Two full installs today could have been four cheaper jobs when I first started out. If that makes sense?

@@MiataPower96 I've never paid anything even remotely close to that. If you can afford a budget that much in Advertising then I hope you can get that as a return. I would say yes. Of course you can't just open a shop and sit inside and wait so you need some way to get your name out there. A lot of people Google me to be honest and word of mouth. The Reviews are really helpful.

My Aunt use to tint commercial windows. And she said she would measure the box then cut through the box with the blade sticking out. Then as you pull the film out it will give you a straight cut. I tried it and it cuts really well. I use the carbon blade to cut this way as you would making your top window cuts. You probably do it at once and re-roll it on to an old film holder. @fadetoblack

Apprecitate you watching. I say most sedans sides and rear take about 14 ft. and most sets of fronts are around 6 ft. So you can do the math on that and get an idea a what you can get out of a roll.

I ordered a 40' by 100' Then they have an option 60' cut , I chose like you said 24/36' Now what happens to my original 40'? Will it become 40'by 40' when the 60' is cut from it? Is that how it works?

You usually get one cut out of a 60" (inch) x 100 ft roll. So if you cut that 24" you'll have 36" left over both rolls are still 100ft of film. You only cut out of the height, not the length. Hopefully that makes sense?

@@heatncool yes you'll get two rolls both 100ft long by whatever cut you choose. I like the 24" because like I said I do a lot of front matches and that can be used for those and cars with the 36". Find a tint supplier close to you so you don't need to wait a week to get it. People like the brands for different reasons. I've used Tint Club and Flexfilm for years (Google). You have to see what %s is popular in your areas. Here it's 20% for cars and trucks/SUVs. When you find a website look on there and they will tell you sizes. Not sure if you watched the vide but I explain that. Good luck.

Tons of good Brands out there. Find something you can get with quick shipping but don't buy from Ebay or Precut kits unless you know it's a good film. Express, Global, Flexfilm, Tint Club are all good.

@@antonho5903 It not really about quality, it's about how your using the film? If you looking for more of a heat reduction then go with Ceramic. I like to do Ceramic on Full Windshields and sunroofs. Carbon is a Better and Ceramic is BEST in terms of film.
