Hi, this video tests different things and ideas to see what works on the Nintendo Switch Lite. Hopefully it might answer some questions that you may have about it. Many thanks, Vince.
I m waiting for someone to replace the only charging type c with a video out type c ... should take a week or two for a techie to do that, I think it's a shame nintendo didn't do that. The resolution won't be upscaled like for the normal switch but for most game it will be all right.
In my opinion, it is more optimal to just intercept the signal that goes to the console's display. I think only minor hardware modifications will be required. Or none, if you don't mind having a display's flex cable hanging out of your console
@@hattron6704 it's more for people that have already bought the switch lite but then want to play on the tv. it's a lot better than buying a completely new switch.

Why would u spend the money on an og switch and then spend the money on a lite that just waste money and if u want a separate controller get the pro controller which is only 100 bucks
At 9:55 you mention something that actually existed for the PSP Fat model. It was Composite only but it literally snapped over the front and had a camera on it. Years ago now and technology has gotten way better so I could see a modern one being successful.
Omg!!! Filming the lite to put it on the tv is absolutely genius!!! You are awesome man! Keep up the great work. Watching you repair things is very very enjoyable.
I’ve got both now. The Lite is definitely a superior handheld, in all aspects. After a few months of having the switch most friends hardly use the dock. Everyone can be different but I’m really liking the lite. Doom is awesome on it. So clear. Best review I’ve watched.
Haha, thanks mate, I have ever so slight colour envy over your blue one :-) You got on that teardown pretty quick - I am impressed :-) The Lite is nice though, feels pretty good. I think initially I prefer it over the full size Switch. Hope the quality holds up, I seen my right analogue stick go a slight yellow colour today where the colour from the Lite rubbed off a bit onto my thumb. To be fair to it though my hands are like sandpaper at the mo :-)
Really impressed with the 9 controllers, and pretty much everything that Can be connected through USB c too ! Great video overall, you answered all my questions and more !
As someone who only has the switch lite, that last idea was really smart. I wish I was able to stream any game on a computer or TV like you are able to with a normal switch. Great idea!
My mate Vince just made a switch lite docking method. Now that's my mate vince, finding ways to enjoy Nintendo Switch games like a switch without the switch.
Ye that can not switch even though it can do many things in it but the point is it cannot switch right the newest switch has 9 hours of battery life now and the switch has many features and you cannot use nintendo labo on it also the switch can do most of those things well try that out
do you guys know if it works if I use my Elgato game capture to record on the switch lite? Even though I know it won’t support the dock or hdmi cable to usb c
That last idea is genius.... absolute genius. I could get a tripod for my phone and do that same thing. That and a speaker, additional controllers, and you are good to go really.
The idea you're talking reminds of the one for the PSP! I remember I bought one it had a mirror inside it with a little camera and it would connect in composite, way before the PSP 3000 and its tv connectivity.
I was really disapointed to find out i couldnt use my new switch lite on my tv but you are a life saver. I used my phone and put it over some books over my switch light and put it on output to my tv. And it worked! Thank you
And pattent that home made switch dock idea before someone else takes it, fast! Imagine how much money you would make, when the switch lite sells like hot cakes.
@Taus Enrico That reminds me of a video i saw. I can't remember the details, except that this guy was cutting off large portions of a wii motherboard to make a wii mini. There was barely anything left, but with some modifications, would work just fine and play games.
Timmity3 he could put the battery on top of the motherboard and yes it may make the unit a bit thicker it would still make the overall footprint much smaller to say the size of a vita
Your custom Switch Lite is far more impressive, to me at least. You built it vs a multi-billion dollar corp. Yours, may not be perfectly cosmetic, however it's built with far more love. I think it's time for Nintendo to hire you into the design team. They could use you!
Multi billion dollar corporations are never aiming to produce an optimised product they aim to produce something people will be willing to pay for on both a scale and for a price where they can make a profit.
I love the switch lite. The “cons” that a lot of people try to force aren’t a big deal. The biggest one to alot of people would be connecting to tv and the doc and since this video someone has found a way to do it. I have two extra controllers if I play something against someone (Mario Kart) but most of the time it’s just me. Lite is definitely better in my opinion. The other switch is really for those who live with a lot of other people. And idk why people are surprised bc Nintendo devices have always been handheld and they never connected to a tv and we played against someone through Bluetooth or is everyone forgetting?!?!
Great video as always Vince! The psp actually had something like your idea at the end there called the Plug and Play. Something like that for Switch Lite would come in handy.
I'd honestly buy a kit to convert my current switch to something like your custom. Not being able to dock is a complete deal breaker, but the smaller form factor is perfect for portability. I really want the best of both worlds.
That stuff that you're talking about were made for the PSP 1000 some time ago (99€ for a terrible quality). I guess nowadays It would be possible to be implemented over HDMI with a good Video and Sound Quality. Nice video BTW.
Your voice calmed my anxiety. Thank you for putting in the effort to make this. It is appreciated. The lite has two areas for WiFi and Bluetooth. The original had 1 on bottom, lite has smaller ones cause size, but im curious if having two antenna make it any better. There have been times joy cons wouldn't work during a game sessions with friends less than 20 feet away, and relatively close. The fact the joy cons aren't ever emitting a 2.4 signal like many many devices plus the double antennas. All in all. Who cares, kt plays untitled duxk game. I have a fever and cabt keep my train of thought. Loved your video, loved your switch lite a lot, its an impressive feat. Im going to fall back into a fever dream im so out of it lol. Be well man , you got a sub from me
Thanks man for the controller ideas and what all will work on it :) just got me a grey one and a rubber shell n carrying case coming...working on installing games on mine at the moment :)
Gigabit usb 3 does work! You just have to one with the right chipset. The Amazon Essentials does as an example. It will only do usb2 speed, which is still faster than 100mbps.
You’re very good . Would you please post links to your bliss and other adapters that allow me to use PS4 controllers with my Switch ? Thanks !!! Keep it up !
Fantastic to know all these :) Ive just got a switch lite for christmas, and rather dislike the small thumb sticks.. SO just ordered an adaptor so i can plug a USB controller in :) Thanks,
