It's interesting looking at different scenarios. years ago we had a smaller junk yard in our town. Mr Art Sanderson owned it everyone called him uncle art. He was a big part of my life and a lot of teenagers in my area. He was the go too guy when we were working on our cars. He passed away a number of years ago. I think of him often. Such a helpful man. Thanks Silas you've brought back a lot of really great memories

Enjoyed the different take on this vid! Glad that yellow IH crewcab found a home, looks like a good one to bring back. YES - the time frame to crush everything is really longer than that because of all the other things(sorting, cleanup, etc.) that go with it always get in the way of 'straight productivity'. Not to mention then the fuel, servicing equipment, etc. that's a part of it to. Cool video, good job!

This isn't a criticism of you or your father or the business. I'd like to see the stacks of wrecks, old appliances, buses, and just junk metal - gone! I am not talking about the antiques or highly collectible rarities. Those you are able to turn into "art", well that's another aspect of the business. There never seems to be a lack of junkers and wrecks coming into the yard. Seems like those represent a return on your investment. The massive mounds of tires never seem to disappear, and that's all over the country. Keeping the land clear is a positive, isn't it? Okay, balancing when red metals are high and aluminum becomes more precious is the game, yes? I'm thinking of removing the piles of iron and steel. However, you know your business better than I do. I really do enjoy your videos!

About a decade ago, we crushed hundreds of cars out of a buddies yard. He ran sales for about a month so people wouldn't complain that he crushed something they needed. The scrapyard he deals with brought a couple mobile crushers to get it done faster. They guaranteed the rate, and we pulled wheels, radiators, and condensers. It's getting ready to crush out again this summer most likely.

This is my complaint as well. Maybe the way he has it set-up, makes sense to him, but not to any outsider. It does seem like organized and straight rows, would make things easier to locate and inventory. Additionally, if it was organized a lot more logically, he would be able to put a lot more inventory in the same amount of space.
