Miranda isnt ugly, its extremely cold, however, the surface temprature is around 39 degrees above absolute zero. But you cannot but admire such terrifying cold, unknown normally here on earth. Its beautiful and deadly. If you were to stand on the surface barefoot, you would instantly melt the frozen gas under your feet, and sink in, only then for the remaining unsublimated liquid phase gas to freeze around you again, entombing you in forever. It would be like a nugget of lava on a block of polystyrene........
You know, I always thought of a story plot where humans start to colonize the universe and have the "abilities" to do so, special "suits" or whatever, and people are randomly assigned different planets/moons to "colonize". You set such a mood here with the music and tone of your voice that I could honestly picture a group of panicked and disappointed people being sent to Miranda for the rest of their lives. Something like that would make for a good novel/novella.

Reading through “Pale Blue Dot” where Carl Sagan discusses Miranda a bit and then found this video when I wanted to learn more about it…thanks for posting!
Jokes about its unfortunate name aside, Uranus is a really interesting planet. Its weird 80-90 degree axial tilt, it's relatively calm atmosphere compared to neighbours Saturn and Neptune, its deformed moons that orbit like a Ferris wheel due to said axial tilt.
I was just looking at size comparisons on google, and Miranda is really tiny! Even much smaller than our own Moon. So I really see what you're saying about the low gravity.
props on your speaking voice. such slow and precise diction. perfectly suited to a visual presentation. the slowness of your speaking would permit even the distractible listener to retain most of what he heard
@@indigneouschupacabra43 Stars flicker due to their light traveling through the atmosphere and being slightly warped as it does so, giving us the twinkling effect. If Miranda has no atmosphere, then the stars we'd see from there wouldn't flicker at all and just be seen as static lights in the sky
Miranda may be mysterious, but it's hardly ugly. Future vacationers may one day be skiing off the mountains made of frozen methane. From it's surface, the would be so spectacular, that any theoretical presentation will then be be obsolete.
According to my information, the Verona Rupes is not 3 miles high. Is way more high than that. It is 20 kms high. And if you jumped from the top, due to Miranda's gravity, it would take you 12 minutes to reach the bottom, and you would hit the floor at about 200 km/h.
I wish we could go send a rover to Miranda, and all those moons, or the large ones. I would luv to see what is actually on their. If NASA evern wanted to have a one way trip there, I would go.
I didn't know that Uranus has a huge radiation belt that could affect a possible astronaut... I thought only Jupiter and Saturn has something really huge... That's interesting.
Hate to be pedantic, but I'm not sure why sound effects accompany the cryo-volcanic eruptions as the lack of an atmosphere surely means there's nothing to be heard?
