The best way to make yourself invisible is not to block light rays coming off yourself (though that is part of it), but rather to have light rays identical to the object behind you reach any observer, creating the image that there is nothing between them and the object behind you. Basically, if you can curve light around your cloak (or emit new light the same colour as the light that hits you on the opposite side), you're invisible.

Nova Storm Yes, that (sort of) works. The main issue is that you have to change your image for each viewer. Imagine two people looking at a cylindrical screen with a camera behind it. One viewer is opposite the camera, and the other is slightly to the side but can still see part of the same side. If you put the feed from the camera on the screen, the person opposite the camera would be none the wiser, but the person to the side would see a massively skewed image.
