This video is an in between to the current boat repair videos, documenting the journey, from where it all began in Greece!
This was my longest to date and first overnight passage...and what a passage it was with a sustained 40 knots for the majority of the passage from Lefkas, Greece, to Messina, Italy.
We suffered some sail damage, but aside from that, Monastrell kept us safe, and we tied up in Messina relatively unscathed!!
A few boats from the Middle sea race were in the marina, retired because of damage, which confirmed for us how challenging the passage had been! At the same time, it was a wonderful learning opportunity and experience. Each time a new challenge is conquered, it builds confidence in boat and crew, and a bond is developed, which is an amazing feeling!
We have a few overnight stays in a few cool anchorages and explore as much as possible with the limited time available!
It's our mission to stay ahead of the weather, get out of the Med and start the journey toward the Caribbean!
Next video for this series, Ben and Zac get to tick off a bucket list goal of climbing an active volcano!! I got just over half way and chickened out😅
That will be after the next video however, which will be the the reinstalling of Monastrells keel, rudder and mast!!
