what would you do if this rat came into your house | Bonbon 

My theory about this game The child we play as has a broken family who fight and argue a lot (which explains the adults yelling part) , leaving the child mostly neglected (why we never "see" the parents) the family has a pet hamster or rat or whatever you want to call that thing. The child is lonely and to get a friend he keeps the thing with him all the time. But because of the neglect and broken family, the child sees his pet as an imaginary friend who'll act and behave depending on the child's mood. The child is hungry so BonBon (the rat thing) eats the cake. the child is scared and the rat becomes a monster, the child is concentrated while cleaning up and he imagines the rat helping him out. When in reality, its just a little pet helping the child as some say that animals are smart enough to know what happens around the family, and the rat just helps the little kid and acts like a normal pet at the same. The horrifyng look of the rat might explain the child's imagination and how he may feel the parents see him. an ugly, fat, angry, sweet but annoying rat due to the neglect and arguements BUT THAT'S JUST A THEORY

The child was being affected by the constant arguing between his parents. That’s why the rat exists. The child subconsciously creates the rat in his mind to distract him from the arguing, but at the same time, the rat is used as symbolism to portray the fear the child feels when he sees/hears his parents arguing. Notice at the end how the rat shows up when the child hears them arguing, and then it disappears when the parents come in the child’s room to check on him. The child is in desperate need of more attention and love from his parents. The developer did a great job.

I know this is old but I'll never forget the horror and disgust I experienced while listening to that story the dad tells.. I'm honestly surprised not more people are talking about it... TW BELOW Like she obviously did not have those rat children willingly, she was assaulted, impregnated by a DIFFERENT SPECIES- and died with the hope that her brother would come save her from it all.. every time I get shivers.. worst ending ever.

this game feels like a metaphor for an abusive house member. that looming figure always over you, the constant fear, the demanding, the ignorance from the people who love you, everything.

I think a irrational fear I have is dark rooms, I know nothing is there but I feel like something is going to get me plus, I can’t stand in a dark room by myself for too long tho, or I’ll start to “see stuff” and think something is gonna grab me, stuff like that. But that’s all really, great video!

Can I just point out that Cory is really smart? He is the first RU-vidr that I’ve seen that figured this game out. Not to mention that he actually pays attention to story and game mechanics. He’s also mad funny. I think I found a new favorite RU-vidr.

The only irrational fear I really have is of wasps. Something about the way they hover, the noise, everything just gets under my skin and terrifies me. Like I feel SO unsettled when I know one is nearby. Yet with bees, flies, spiders, snakes, you name it, I don't feel a thing. Must be some kind of psychological reasoning behind it. I believe that the rat represents an abusive step father. This would be why such a fat rat can walk around in the house and mess with the child all while the mom is home. My idea is that the kids real dad was either broken up with or broke up with the mom. With the mom finding a new guy who torments the protagonists in secret; this would explain why the dad asks "What's he doing here?" and the mom telling the dad to "Take it downstairs." I believe that in the last part of the game the step dad was going to kill the kid. The reason why he is a rat would be that the child views his new dad as a pest.
