Tatiana is my favorite. I would love a 24.5m yacht which mirrors such. With the ability to park 4 of my vehicles in the hull of the boat. I have my own design. Watching different designers have helped tremendously. I can honestly say, mine is unique. My question to you is. How do I go about contacting a designer to make my idea a reality. Someone I can pay and not be committed to any particular builder. Due to the fact I don't know everything about what is needed to build a boat of that magnitude. I'm more drawn to functionality vs luxury. This will be my home, not just a vessel of leisure. Thanks for your videos! they're far superior in comparison to everyone else I've watched. I am a long time follower of this channel and Here is my question for you! Can you dig into warranty and maintenance for large yachts? Does the builder offer full warranty on the yacht including electrical, engines, furniture etc etc or each item covered under the separate warranty based on who is purchased from? Do the builder force you to get certain maintenance/check ups done yearly with them or can you get it done in another ship yard? What avoids the warranty? How long is the warranty on a large yachts? Great and informative video! Personally, I always thought Lurssen is the greatest and most successful super yacht builer with all the great yachts that they have built to date I think I was right, Greatest yachts from great company owner Maybe that is why they are highly successful

Honestly if I can't afford the dream then I probably shouldn't own a yacht. Better to charter the dream. Love your channel. If or when I can afford a yacht you are who I will be contacting your passion, knowledge and experience would be invaluable.

Thank you so much for distinguishing the two different areas of yacht building. The companies you have mentioned for both the production / custom side of the industry are building some amazing products, however that said I never could understand why the production side of the house, in my humble opinion only, never appeals to me as much as the custom route. I have had both production and custom built yachts and both styles were exactly what I wanted at the time and what I had planned for there usage. In the end it is not so much as to which one is better, production, semi-custom or full custom but which one ticks all the boxes for you and your plans for the yacht.
I'm really liking this format. Please don't give up reviewing Yachts like you've been doing but if you can keep these Q&A videos going, that would be EXTRA awesome.
Here is a question for you. If you have answered this before, I am sorry I did not see or hear it. Why do yacht builders/designers, especially on the production yacht builds. Always position the seating at the aft end of the yacht facing into the cabin? When you sit in your back garden of your house you face the garden, not the house. Unless your garden is awful. So you pay £500,000-5,000,000 for a yacht. Travel to glorious places in the Med etc, to sit facing the cot pit! There are the odd one or two That swivel the back seat? If I paid big bucks for a yacht and transport to far away lands/seas. I would want to look at them.
Before watching - I really like the look of the Benetti BNow68 semi-custom. Elegant lines, beautiful modern interiors, a massive beach club and good crew areas. Not so big a yacht that you'd have to book berths six months in advance, but big enough for almost any need. After watching - yep, definitely sticking with my choice (for fantasy yacht!). Not sure that it's justifiable to pay double or more and probably wait longer to get a Feadship. Didn't realise the prices were so different. Not that I can afford a boat of any kind, but hey ho, nice to dream!
120m - 135m Lürssen designed by Tim Heywood would be the dream. I´d maybe buy ICON280 in the meantime to ease the 4 to 5 years wait for the big baby. Keep up the good content David, cheers!

Using a filter I always search for the Aluminum hull. From there i start selecting. Favorite designers are Feadship, Heesen, OceanCo and Trinity. Now the cash.

I think all builders are almost the same because materials available are at the pinnacle of construction. 50 years ago all people spoke about was osmosis, now its a thing of the past, 20 years before that boats were built by artisans which also reached the pinnacle with wood yachts.
If i could buy a yacht, it would be an explorer. I would take my Son on South Pacific tour, back tracking the battlefield of WW2. To revisit the areas i seen during my your in the U.S.Navy to tell my sea stories through Hawaii, Guam, Yap, Paulu, Philippines,......
At first, I was thinking I should get the Magellano 30, because it is objectively the prettiest yacht I've ever seen. But then I thought, if I'm dreaming, why not dream big, so I ended up with a Damen SeaXplorer 105. :D

I just wanna point something out I think with your buying or building a yacht a lot of it should be based on budget what you can afford not how big can you get it but what you can afford
So, what is it about France, the UK, Spain, Ireland, and Scandinavia that makes them unsuitable for yacht building? They all had great shipbuilding industries once upon a time. Is the labour market just too hostile in those countries now?

A sailboat! Easily the most expensive way to travel anywhere for free! also you’re kind of lumping all of the production yachts in that same sort of “same same but different”. I think anyone who buys a Bavaria and compares it to the guy next door with a Swan or an X-yacht, Oyster, Amel… “production yacht” can have a significant variation in definition.
A note, solid frp isn't specifically stronger, in fact it can easily be weaker than a sandwich layup. The primary reason it is done is due to concerns over water ingress into the core material (this is a far bigger issue with wood-based cores and open cell foams, rather than the typical closed cell foam used). A solid laminate really only provides more weight for a little bit of piece of mind (it is more impact-resistant) and an easier construction process, compared to a sandwich layup that is designed and built properly.
Solo got sold, had my eye on Days but that’s gone, the only one that has my eye is Darnet Design project Starlight. Ideally I’d like anything over 80m, carbon fibre and hybrid 👍

Really liked this and found it very interesting. Always nice to think that one day I’ll have this problem. A separate question for you, do you think the yachting industry is doing enough, moving fast enough or has the motivation to move in a more environmentally friendly way? Which yacht builders, both production and custom are leading the way. And which component companies (decking, toys etc) that are also doing a great job on this front?
Besides money, how long does it take from idea to handover to customer hands, in terms of time? Let's say for example for a yacht like Solo or a similar sized one.
I have been watching your Videos for a while and they are the very best. I fell in love with the Mangusta 165, it is a beautiful machine. After looking at "Serenity" I could not imagine a better interior, nice dark woods. The performance at Sea is amazing but that pointed out a question. The best range would not get you across the Atlantic. Has anyone refit a 165 with enough fuel capacity to at least do an Ireland-iceland-newfoundland crossing or is the 165 not the right sea boat for doing a crossing, performance and range do not mix well? I wish you well in your career and look forward to more videos.
If I were to buy a yacht, I would want a trimaran, powered by electric motors and solar panels, as big as you can go without having the need for a crew on board.
You’ve got me spooked a bit. We are presently looking at a yacht builder in Turkey and I’m not sure I could tell good from bad. Do you ever offer consultation?
You missed the 3rd grouping for yachts, the bridge between production and custom, the semi-custom builders. Fleming, Nordhavn*, Outer Reef all fit this classification. They have the advantage of the production builders molds, yet the interior can be customized for the buyer. Really a blend of custom and production. * Nordhavn can also fit into the custom yacht builder, they have done completely custom builds for clients.
Well, it might be worth your time to make a few videos introducing some of the designers with good examples for their interior and exterior designs. Personally, I do not like the modern hotel feeling many interiors emanate. On the other hand, I do like some of the exterior designs that are around or seen in concept boats. An overview of the various designers would really be helpful to those people who are thinking about a custom yacht.
You forgot to mention one really fantastic builder in the Netherlands which is icon I love the work they build some fantastic yachts and I wish you would do more about them
