Ali you’re out here saving lives. Currently in a relapse (?) after months of disregarding. It’s the week before my period and I’ve noticed my cortisol just spikes my anxiety so high. Having panic attacks like I’ve never had. YET despite that I listen to a few videos (I think too many can be reassurance for me) to remind myself the basics and calm down and then yesterday I was even able to recover from an afternoon of panic, see a friend, and apply to jobs ! I never would’ve been able to focus on that earlier in my recovery. The panic attacks are here again today but I choose to go out with my friends and not let it leave me house bound. Thank you for all that you do:

When i avoid a thought and it gets disturbing it can lead to another thought so i find myself blaming myself for it ...the guilt is my biggest enemy

Ali, what about if you have a dream regarding your OCD triggers or have an anxiety high dream? Then you wake up with anxiety and through the rest of the day you feel like you're in the dream. Feel a bit depersonalized.

What’s helped me a lot with depersonalization is meditation. And it doesn’t have to be like a full 15-30 minute session. You can just close your eyes and breathe in and out fully a few times and it will definitely help!

Hi Ali, it's been a while since I've commented on one of your videos. I always find myself coming back to your videos when OCD attacks. I've struggled with HIV OCD for about a year now, and despite taking two HIV tests (both negative) I still feel as though I've somehow passed HIV onto people. My brother has recently started feeling unwell and has swollen lymph nodes etc and I just feel like i've somehow infected him with HIV and that he's now presenting symptoms. I try to disregard as best I can but even when I do, I can't shake the feeling of being a bad person and that I don't deserve to be happy. Thanks in advance if you respond. :)

But whenever i try to do anything else there's this alarm that goes on saying ohh you're distracting yourselff and also since you said themes shift a lot my brain is now always on guard saying oh what if this turns into another obsession. I just don't understand it.

@@m.b.4164 NEVER recommend that. Ever. Praying is a compulsion and makes the ocd worse when you stop praying so you literally need to pray all the time to keep the anxiety at bay.
