In spanish are called Rosa Mosqueta, and are tipical from Germany. At the Patagonia in South America (Argentina and Chile) we found them wild in tons and tons. We use it dehidrated for teas and there are plenty of cosmetics made from them, they have lots of benefits. The queen product is Jam, it's the best jam ever ❤

Great! Mastering rosehips has been on my list for years, but I haven't put in the time and energy to figure out how to best make use of them. This was everything I needed to know!

Just this past Sunday I've made Rosehips syrup, a serum (infused in oil) to use topically on the skin, an oxymel and a rosehip tincture ❤

Would freeze drying the rose hips keep more of the medicinal and nutritional value?

Hi Melissa, I just made your buttermilk biscuits for the second time. The first time I made them I store them in the fridge and they got very hard. Do you recommend storing them at room temperature?
@MelissaKNorris

Yes, I never store bread on the fridge, it goes stale

Melissa could you specify which types of rose can be used this way? As in my mom has some ornamental rose bushes from the green house, and some type of wild roses grow along grassy ditches here in southern Manitoba.. are either or both used safely medicinally? Is every rose/rosehip variety edible and medicinal?
@MelissaKNorris
@MelissaKNorris Год назад
The medicinal varieties are listed in the article on my website (link is in the video description), but smaller ornamental roses have some medicinal purposes but you have to harvest a lot more and they may not have as much as medicinal varieties

Are rose bushes where you get rose hips? Any particular type better than the others?

Do I need to cut all the wild rose hips in half? They are so small. Can I just freeze dry the whole hip?

I've never seen these..where can I find them to buy and grow? Can you dry them naturally if you don't have any other way to dry them? How much goes in a tea? Sorry for all the questions

@alexwidmer7421

I think you want to look for wild varieties, for example dog roses….Rosa canina. The one that Melissa is harvesting is looking like a Rosa rugosa because of the very large hips. But she says to look at her blog post.

Surely you need to remove all the hairy seeds that are irritant and used to make itching powder.
@h.b.1421
@h.b.1421 Год назад
rose seeds are more like apple seeds as apple are like roses, pears and a lot of others in the rosaceae plant family. The hairs are just a cover for the seeds.

You seem to have a good deal of health knowledge but I do notice behind you there is a gas range. Why would you have this range in your home when are so health conscious? A gas stove is extremely toxic for your family and for the environment.
