Oh my gosh! I have backyard chickens that like grass and sometimes I would pull some grass for them on days when they can't come out of their pen. During the last year, I have been saying thank you for feeding my chicken as I pull the grass. I have no idea why I feel the urge and feel quite silly but I always do it. Nice to know other people do similar things! I have always loved talking to my house plants, especially when they are not looking well. I just thought I was weird.
Hippies, witches, some herbalists who are none of the above, tons of people do that. I figure plants can't hear me any way so I usually don't do that when I rip out plants, but then again I find myself before I eat sometimes thanking the plants and animals that died so that I could live. You're not alone, ALOT of people do that.
Thank you so much for this!! I'm in my first year of my clinical herbalism degree and I had no idea what equipment was necessary for a new starter. Love your videos please keep them coming💖
So glad this was of help to you! I also felt lost when I began my clinical training. I have new videos coming out every week and I have no plan on stopping!
Thank you so much for making this video, every other video I watch always says I have to buy like a $5,000 dollar set of equipment and books to even get started, So thank you for helping me figure out what to actually use. Btw you're AMAZING!
Golly right? Let's be honest, herbal medicine is not exactly a lucrative field. If we all had to buy $5000 worth of equipment, we'd be out of business before we started! Thank you for watching another video! I appreciate it.
I generally carry pennies and small pieces of agate in my bag to leave as offerings (both for plants or if I come across a graveyard while I'm out since I personally like to leave offerings there as well). Many plants like copper so pennies are just an easy way to give that (they're mostly zinc but have enough copper for it to help the plant stay healthy and fungus free). Agate is just a way of being thoughtful and I have a fair bit of it since I got some to decorate my house plants at one point.
I love the idea of the pennies! They are hard to find here in Canada because we don't use them as currency anymore. But now I need to find some. Thank you for sharing this.
That last part about the offering is interesting! I've never heard that before! I just believe they were put here on earth to heal us, so it's basically their purpose. But it's interesting to hear other opinions!
It was a friend's husband who made it and I'm not sure if he's still doing the work. I'll link her website and hit can reach out to them. hammerthreads.ca/
If you are a rakie master asking the plant permission and feeling the consent of a plant can be vary helpfull to you. knowing it's spirit is willing to help you can make your herbs more powerful especially In the spiritual level though in the physical relm even an unwilling plant will heal. being grateful and respecting a plants boundaries if they decline to be harvested is important to my self practice.
Yes I agree completely with this. I'm actually planning on filming a video on permission and reciprocity in plant medicine. Reiki is a beautiful offering to plants and also a very important part of my practice as well 💙🙏
No holes at all! The bottom is meant to hold water which you will bring to a simmer. The top holds whatever you are warming/melting. This prevents scorching/burning and rapid oxidation. Hope that helps!
@Spiraea Herbs i think they are asking about holes because it would seem that the boiling/simmering water in the bottom would expand/pressurize to the point of wanting to pop the top pot off or at least make it rumble from the steam forcing itself to escape.
For my clinical studies I attended Living Earth School of Herbalism and I believe all of their classes are online now. It's changed quite a bit since I was a student there.
@@SpiraeaHerbs you said you give offerings as thanks to plants that you harvest I believe. Just wondering if you give offerings to the herbs you give as offerings because the offerings were also living and had to be harvested to become the offering of a newly harvested plant?
@@joshuacarter4590 Ah yes I understand your question now. At that time I did yes, but I no longer practice the exact same way anymore. My harvesting practice has evolved as my relationship with the plants has deepened. But yes... I would have left a thank you (or offering) to the plants that I harvested for offerings (which at that time was usually mugwort).
@@rachiisonline My suggestion is that I would offer what feels in alignment. Even a thank you. Reiki or other energetic exchange. At this point, I listen to the individual plants and see what they want. I know that was a vague answer, but it's the one I have!
I feel your frustration. It bothers me when folks assume that the people who live in the British commonwealth countries pronounce things the exact same way you do in America. Perhaps you will find this video educational and help you to understand why you dropped the "h" in herbs a few hundred years ago. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-gEOwQWYW_Do.html
