Bud thanks for sharing your experience. I've recently had challenges reading music in the choir. Your theory applies to my situation; currently wearing progressive will be ordering tri-focals. Good job...thanks again for sharing!!
If you are looking straight ahead I feel the progressive will benefit you more because they are awesome as long as you are looking where your nose is pointing!
I found the round frame glasses worked best for me. No blur on the outside. But my glasses are set up normal range and then extended long range, since I have 15/20 vision. Not cheap but worth every dime.
