it bothers me when Companies try to sell there games online for the same price as a physical copy

I first started using CDkey selling sites because the prices were so much cheaper than buying the games themselves. But over time I've noticed that the "cheap" prices aren't so cheap anymore. The gap in price between buying the full game vs. just the key has narrowed. I guess that's because it has become more popular and more acceptable to buy game keys.

Agreed. Do you know the volume of counterfeit goods on Amazon? It is staggering. Especially in the beauty cosmetics lines and there was huge fitbit problem a couple years ago when they were really popular. 100% knockoffs were being sold as true items. And it was really hard to tell the difference. And Amazon allowed it to happen. Most of the time it was even shipped by Amazon through the partner program. They aren't inspecting all these goods to make sure items aren't counterfeited. Especially on the high end fakes. So why hold these key reselling marketplaces to a higher standard then Amazon? Guarantee the big AAA game publishers are behind the smear campaign. It's no different then what books publishers tried to do for hundreds of years to the used book market.

I always buy my games from cdkey sites if the game in question is filled with micro transactions and other monetization scams. Otherwise i will consider paying full price.

I use windows 10 for free, but some of the limitations can be bypassed using regedit if you know what to do. None of the other features really matter to me anyways.

I buy a lot of 'grey market' OS keys for the many computers I build as projects and the Virtual Machines I use for network labs. But my main machines (Windows 7, 8.1, 2012 Essentials, Win 10 and UNRAID) I buy the retail versions of the OS so I can upgrade hardware with less hassle. I run more machines than I need, about 12, but 5 OS and a server OS are all retail.

I can understand devs selling keys on these sites. Before recently steam took 30% of sales. Say it's a $60 game, they get $18 from it. Devs can sell those keys for say $10 cheaper and pocket that extra 8 bucks. At least that's how I see it, could be completely wrong.

My most recent key experience: purchased W10 Enterprise LTSB key from eBay for about $7. Email with key came from UK (I'm in the US). Microsoft validated it no problems at all. Using it in my strictly gaming only pc.

Games are being released broken with devs not doing much to fix their games imho. I will continue to buy them.

I've used Kinguin for about 2 years and have purchased over 20 titles of them. All keys activated, and to my knowledge, no key's have been revoked so far. I always check the sellers rating and how much they sold before buying anything .

I've actually been scammed more on eBay when trying to buy keys! I bought one and Steam said it had been activated. I contacted the sellerand they sent another... ALSO ACTIVATED! I contacted them again and THEY accused ME of trying to scam them by taking all their keys!! Whereas on cdkeys and g2a, I've never had a problem. Though sometimes my bank refuses to pay if the seller is foreign based, in case someone stoll my card info😂

If you buy from someone who has thousands of sales and 98% positive then youre almost always going to get a legit key.Ive never had any problems and ive bought 40 or so of these keys.I once had red faction removed for some reason but thats only problem ive ever had.

I've used scd and cdkeys for the past two years at least. I've got copies of Office 2016 pro that have been on machines for over a year, still no issues... same with win10 pro. Games have never been anything other than flawless either... You pay, and immediately thereafter you have a key. You enter it and it works. That's all there has ever been to it for me. Time and time again.

I use Green Man Gaming and CDkeys. Between those, humble bundle, and Steam sales I never pay full price for games anymore, even on launch.

Always cracks me up people sticking up for multi billion dollar companies like Microsoft because of cheap windows keys. I understand if it was a game studio that needed the money but Microsoft ?? The eBay analogy is pretty interesting, but very accurate. My biggest issue with key resellers is that I don't know what their background is, and I don't know if my purchase actually goes to support the developers. Of course, if I specifically did not want to support the developers, (for example, if they were doing something ethically wrong) then I would be much more likely to buy from a marketplace because it would have a lower likelihood of making the developers a lot of money. Still, I would rather purchase from a more reputable site if I can.

ive only been "scammed" once and that was 2 weeks ago where i bought a win10 pro key from ebay then 2 days later i bought another one but it was the same cd key so i contacted the seller and finally after 2 days, they sent me a new one.

To summarize some things, game devs generate keys to give to people, but there are cases of devs being hacked and illegal steam keys being sold, so just make sure you know were the keys came from before you buy, stolen keys can lead to a banned account if you used it

I am all for buying keys from G2A and the like. I am a consumer after all. That being said, it'd be nice if these marketplaces would put forth a real effort to curb unethical use of their sites.

G2A tried to screw me by locking my account for complaining to support. Unfortunately for them, Paypal agreed that I could get my money back. Because who's to say if I had or hadn't used all of the keys yet?

I would absolutely love to see some real investigation into this stuff. It would be very interesting to see some in-depth explanation on how these keys come into existence, and end up on grey market sites. I'm not going to pretend that i'm a saint. Though i haven't really used these grey market sites much for games, as i find that games go on sale through legitimate channels, often enough, and on good enough pricing, that i just buy them through their respective launchers. Windows though, is another matter. That OS is so disgustingly expensive, that i would have to go down several tiers in hardware, each time i built a PC, if i had to pay what Microsoft them selves are asking. And for the state that Windows is in, filled with bloat, driven by anti consumer practices, and so f*cking broken that it's not even funny, i don't think Microsoft has earned that asking price. While i realise that my opinion probably means very little in regards Microsofts feelings, and possibly even rights on this matter, i don't feel bad, for paying what i actually think their crappy OS is worth, which is as little as humanly possible. I wish there was a better option, that was as user friendly (without the bloat and bugs), and as compatible with both hardware and software, but so far as i know, that just doesn't exist (and no, Linux or MacOS, doesn't really meet those wishes either). This is why monopoly is a bad thing.

They used to have multiple warehouses just on that street along the highway. Now they barely need the space they have and I'm surprised Billabong hasn't swooped in on some of their space.

Ive only ever had 1 issue with a key and it was a Windows install and it wasnt even forbme it was a co worker who I helped build a pc and honestly the refund process was easier than I thought I hit up customer service they walked me throu a couple things I sent them a screen shot of the key being denied amd it took a few days amd they refunded me.

paid 20 bucks on g2a for my windows 10 pro 64bit key. had zero issues with it after 2 years. bought a cheap key for windows to put on a pc i put together for my inlaws. was an oem key but i still manged to get it activated and they've had no issues with it either.

In the last 10 years with all the tens of games I have purchased only once have I had an issue with a key getting revoked and that was with a key for Crusader Kings 3 which I bought on Gamivo but other than that never had an issue with any other game keys.

In the long run, software companies allow it generally, because it is in their financial interest to do so. They want you to have their product. You are giving them what they want regardless if you pay or not. Has any game in recent memory, any apple product, even "good" anyways? Do we know what good is?

I find this a bit bizarre. I had two genuine copies of Windows 7 when it first came out. After a year both came up with the message that they were not genuine. On contacting Microsoft I was informed that both were pirated. They wanted me to pay hundreds of pounds for new licences. Bear in mind that one was on a Laptop I bought from PC World, the other was a stand alone box also from PC world to upgrade my desktop from XP. Since then I've had no hesitation in gulling Microsoft on every opportunity I have.

What i hated was having to pay extra for "buyer Protection " though i wonder do you still get your money back without it if the Key turns about to not work ?

The Windows 10 keys are sold again and again. These are for the most part not legit, if you have to call into MS to activate, that code has been used.

Hey guys if someone could help me: I bought a the key of a game on InstantGaming, a website on which i had already bought other keys for other games without problems. Everrything goes well when i activate my game on steam and i can play with it for two weeks. And then steam revokes my key, for not any reason. I tried to reactivate my key but it did'nt work... if anyone has been in that situation or knows what to do to get your game back, pls answer me.

Have used Grey market a bit. Still often have issues with keys being shifty some sites worse than others. G2A is different from what it use to be it is more like Amazon with the clear good vendors then the option to buy from the more shady ones. Even with money back it can be annoying. I have had other games removed from my Accounts due to keys being revoked. Most recently I have had 1 revoke from Cjs-cdkeys and 2 from Kinguin they were sorted out but it does get annoying. The wost case was when I bought the Crew which was a while ago had the key revoked and Battlefield 4 removed from the account due to using a key that was reported as stolen. It was sorted out after a month of complaining about it. Tho there is a difference between a working key and a legit key. Legally alot of those Windows Pro keys shouldn't be sold outside the business that bought them as a bundle.

There are three types of Windows keys to my knowledge: OEM, Retail, and Volume. OEM Licensing packaged with the HP, DELL, Lenovo-type devices of the world. In these case, the OEM is contracted to provide customer support, so the license is cheaper. Retail...what you buy directly from an authorized MS sales channel. Lastly, the VOLUME license, which are typically sold in bulk at the enterprise level to companies, governments, NGO's, etc. To find out what type of License you have: 1) Go to the search bar and type in Command Prompt; 2) The Start selection will show the Command Prompt button; to the right part of this window SELECT Run Command Prompt as Administrator; 3) Once in the Command Prompt window (CMD), type within the quotes, as follows: "slmgr /dli" If you are buying a cheap key off of an eBay store, it is most likely a VOLUME key. Therefore, the terms of that License means you must be using the software on behalf of the organization to which it was licensed. If MSFT were to ever audit that organization, the license could be deactivated.

With games if I can't download from the site where I'm buying from, I don't buy from there. I tend to stick to steam and GOG and wait for sales before I buy. Sure I might find games that are cheaper on key sites, but with a library full of unplayed games already, I don't need to buy anything that may be dodgy. I see CD key sites as buy from me and get it from that guy over there, it's just a dodgy logistics method (you have to download from somewhere), kind of like those Ebay (and elsewhere) sellers that don't actually have stock, but order forward on your behalf and take a cut. I once ordered a camera flash unit from one of these jokers and while they were listed as in the UK, it was dispatched from HK to AUS and when it arrived not working, I had to send it to the US to get a refund with the premium postage charges that entails, never again. Same with CD keys, buy from some Joker in one part of the world, download from a different mob located elsewhere and if something goes wrong, who do you complain to? I don't need the angst. I'm prepared to write off windows keys should they fail (none have yet) when they're just a few bucks, but not when they're $20-$30 from these cd key jokers. But given that cd keys can be habit forming, it'd be really shitty if a large portion of your library turns to shit because some company decides your keys aren't of the same status as a full fee genuine paying customer.

But what I ask myself is: does the developer still get enough money to make a profit? Because when I like a Game, I want to support those developers to make more games in the Future!
