The Massasauga rattlesnake is Ontario's only venomous snake. It measures about 50 to 70 cm long. The snake is known to only bite in self-defence or if it is threatened. The Weather Network's Lexy Benedict has more on this species.

They have diamond backs too. Puffadders, and water moccasins. Black adders .

Although at one point in time there were timber rattlesnakes in southern Ontario they have since been extirpated. Ontario does not and has not in recent history had any local populations of puff adders, water moccasins, black adders or diamondbacks!

I know there are rattlesnakes in Southern Alberta but didn't know there were venomous snakes in Ontario.
