In this video, you'll see the pros of a luxury F150, adaptive led headlights, and most importantly you'll get some great information on the mighty baby Ecoboost-2.7L and real-world MPG. What are you waiting for? Check this video our!
Just bought one this week. Love the 2.7tt. Came from a Chevy 5.3 late model, but after reading up on the construction of this motor and durability I had to try it. Sold in one test drive. Should be a good runner for many years to come.
Right on! I believe you’ll enjoy it especially with the increase of gas prices. You can baby this truck and get some pretty good MPG. How are you liking it so far? Thanks for taking to time to comment and for watching!
The 2.7 is a solid engine, I had a Ram with the Hemi prior to owning my 2020 STX, and I don't miss the V8. It's my daily driver, no noticeable difference in power, for what I use the truck for, and the mpg is much better.
I personally own a 2015 2.7 ecobeast! I've had no issues so far and I'm at 134k miles. This thing tows like a beast! I've had 12,000 pounds behind it (dump trailer and skid steer) and it performed great on power, but the suspension was bottomed out!
Traded in the old 2005 5.4 time bomb on a 2023 stx 2.7 last summer. Love it, the mileage difference is crazy. 2005 was 16 hwy 11 city, the stx is 24 and 18 mpg. I fill up once every two weeks now
@@kenmoats3654 my truck has the 10 speed, I believe your year came with the 6 speed auto. They’re similar in weight so it’s the only thing I can think of
Outstanding! Welcome to the ford side! She can be feathered to get some pretty good MPG I’ve done it multiple times. Remember it’s eco or boost can’t have both😂. Keep us updated! Thanks for watching!
@kenmoats3654 How’s your driving environment? Hills? Mountains? Desert? These are all factors. In addition it’s eco or boost so if you have a heavy foot it will affect MPG.
That means on the highway likely you are getting around 29-30mpg which is incredible for that size of a vehicle. 2.7L is plenty for my needs ... thank you !!
I absolutely loved the 2.7 when I had one, the best I could do was 25.7 on the highway, hand calculated, I never trust the trip meter. Around town I could never get past 19 mpg, with decent driving. I currently own a Powerboost and I average about 21 mpg around town, still haven’t taken it for a long drive to see what it does. I just wish Ford would offer the 2.7 as a hybrid option as well.
I had a ‘21 Lariat. LOVED the truck, HATED the electrical demons it had. They were so bad, Ford Engineers could not figure it out. Ford bought it back and now I drive a ‘19 F150.
I love my 3.5 so far and I'm right there with you on city MPG. I'm still disappointed my window module broke with in 6 months of ownership. That's really unacceptable.
Wow! She fine…. I wish I would have spent a little more and got a lariat 😂. Same color? This is the first time I’ve seen space white… really cool color.
Any chance you use Ford's red bottle synthetic oil? It read's synthetic on the bottle, but is no where the higher cost compared to Mobil 1. Assuming using Ford's oil is safe. Nice video, keep up the content.
I use Pennzoil full synthetic and have done a number of tests on the oil and it's been great for all of my vehicles. Ford likely buys their oil from a company like Mobil 1 as they do not make their own oil. I do not know that for a fair bit that makes the most sense. Thanks for taking the time to comment and for watching.
Great insight on the 2.7 I'm currently stuck deciding between the 2.7 or the 3.0 Duramax.... I welcome any thoughts. Also what was your average highway speed during your trip?
Thank you! I was averaging around 70 MPH. The diesel is going to get better mpg but it will cost you more for fuel, plus DEF, plus other diesel maintenance cost. I encourage you to take those things in consideration.
@@theoverdriveconsumerchanne4424 Thank you for your insight. That's honestly my exact dilemma but I believe the 2.7 will be the smartest all around choice.
@@realmil733 if you can afford it or could work it out on the deal I’d definitely get an extended warranty (ford esp is pretty solid) if you plan on keeping your truck for some time. The 10-speed transmissions still have some problems.
If you care about mpg 3.0 duramax is the way to go between 25-28mpg , that is what I get on my 2024 zr2 3.0 diesel, I had the ram diesel before and you get almost the same MPG but looks like the small ecoboost does the job as well for probably less money
But yet it’s still reliable… that’s incredible. It shouldn’t every dry rot since continuously lubricated. Thanks for that comment I was unaware of that.
Great review and information 😊 ! I own a 2016 Ford F150 supercrew with the 5.0 V8 . I haven't had too much issues she's been pretty reliable . I like the 2.7 V6 it's quite a peppy engine and pretty good on gas .
2016 is a great year for the f150 especially for the 5.0. They made changes to the 5.0 starting in 2018 and things really went down hill. Thanks for taking the time to comment and for watching!
@@theoverdriveconsumerchanne4424 Thanks for the information good to know that the older engine are better . My next engine choice will definitely be the 2.7 V6 .
I can’t not believe how that bad boy will roll. All that power in a small package like that. That would be a good combo in my opinion! Thanks for taking the time to comment and for watching!
@@theoverdriveconsumerchanne4424 yea I agree however it atleast wasent to bad it took them about 2 hrs to remove the old window motor and put the new one in so atleast that
Correct, and you also have ford pass talking to the satellite all the time so you can remote start / lock and unlock doors anywhere in the world. Thanks for watching
I've owned them all and the 2.7 is my favorite but I currently own the 3.5 and it's strictly because I have to tow heavy for my business. If it wasn't for that I'd have the 2.7 100%!
@@theoverdriveconsumerchanne4424 what mpg do you typically get highway without hauling anything with the 3.5 compared to 2.7? do you notice 'passing power' with the 2.7 at 60+ is less than 3.5?
@@bjornegan6421 great question. So the best way to describe the passing power is the difference in horsepower. That's where the 2.7 has its challenges. When I had my 2.7 I remember passing a slow vehicle on a two Lane Highway, to the floor saying come on, come on. The 3.5 on the other doesn't sweat a pass like that. The 2023, 3.5 that I currently have is getting up to 22 mpg on the highway, 15-16 towing a trailer, and 19 with mixed driving which is an improvement from my 2020 where I was lucky to average 17. The 2.7 is still one of my favorites due to its economical characteristics.
Are you sure it's not a 3.5? That sounds like a 3.5-cam phaser issue which is well-known for that engine. The 2.7 isn't known for that issue. Thanks for taking the time to comment and for watching.
They're built to handle boost, they use a cgi block. There are plenty of high mileage examples out there running fantastic, you don't have a clue of what you're talking about.
The GM 2.7 is a four cylinder and producing the similar power results and they went all in with both half ton trucks and colorado/canyon. I would think with ford splitting the power across 6 cylinders it may have and edge on reliability but time will tell.
Personally, I'm not a chrome guy... This truck was a loaner. Regarding Trump, he did good for our country…. I'll keep my personal thoughts about the current leadership and the elections away from my channel as politics divide us.
