Within a few days of being forced to take it in a psych ward, I was overwhelmed by the compulsion to do EVERYTHING I shouldn't do!! Fortunately, I got out of the hospital, realized what was happening, and stopped the med. Thanks for this video and the assurance that I'm not alone when it comes to these psychiatric meds harming us. I also did TMS and was severely damaged so I really appreciate you bringing awareness to these issues. So happy to report I'm much better with a low-carb, whole-food lifestyle and I use EFT, various techniques to calm the vagus nerve, and meditation to help cope with stressors. Keep up the good work Doc!!

How many people are fully informed of all the consequences and long term ramifications of their decision prior to being initiated on these class of medications? This is an excellent example and public service of what informed consent needs to look like. Honest, detailed, transparent, and thorough. Thank you!

Thank you! If I’d known then, what I know now, my adult autistic son would not have spent the last year going through a horrible 11 months of unnecessary suffering. I strongly support educating yourself and being aware of what psychiatric medication can do to your brain. Don’t be vulnerable. Extrapyramidal symptoms, Akathisia, and a too fast taper from this drug has caused me trauma watching my poor son experience the unimaginable. I trusted psychiatrists and doctors involved in his care and was not warned of side effects. Shameful and unnecessary

How long was your son on it and at what dose? My adult autistic son is begging for this drug, now tapering off Zoloft, thinking its going to make him all better. He suffers from irritability and anger even on the drugs. He constantly wants to switch meds and now he's fixating on Abilify. He took Risperdal for years but has been off for about 6 years. He's 29. I'm not in favor of him taking abilify but there's no talking him out if it. The psychiatrist gives him whatever drug he wants.

Having known a long time user of Abilify, one of the terrifying after-effects is that the person goes extremely manic if they stop taking it. That's if they have been taking if for quite a while and are bipolar 1, so not sure about depression. But basically, it is a trap. I also lived through watching the compulsions escalate, etc. Abilify ( maintenance use, not acute use) is no friend of mine. And, I have never known anyone who was provided informed consent before taking it. The medical community lie by omissions.

@@taperclinic A doctor put me on Risperdal for pure OCD. I got locked up for 2 weeks and forced to take it. My parents were lying to the doctors and telling them I was homeless even though I was living with my boyfriend to try and get me locked up and forced medicated longer. The only way I got out of there was when I said I agreed to continue the Risperdal after I left. I stopped taking it as soon as I got out of there. I started taking Cabergoline when I was 26 and I felt an improvement in my mood, motivation, happiness, a lot less depression and anhedonia. I went from everyone telling me that I never smile to a guy at work telling me that he will call me "smiley" because I always seemed happy. A complete 180.

Abilify has been a wonder drug for our son who has Fetal Alcohol Syndrome. It significantly reduced manic outbursts of manic behaviors such as laughing while destroying things in our home and engaging in dangerous behavuors. He became more comfortable in his body overall. He has been on this drug for 4 years now (he is 16yrs old and takes 3mg daily). He has gained a lot of weight is d is prediabetic now. Many drs tell us that if the drug works, it may be better to manage the diabetes than mess with the psych meds. I am not sure I agree. I would love to hear your thoughts on this. .

I live in Ontario Canada and I’m on a fair number of psychiatric drugs, including a vilify and benzodiazepines. I had a psychiatrist for a regular basis for over 15 years however he retired and I know I’m followed by my family doctor. He seems to know nothing about psychiatric medication at all, I am afraid to make any changes because all he is doing is pushing me to get off of benzodiazepines. He doesn’t care about any of the medication. He advised that he wanted me to have a one hour consultation by zoom with a psychiatrist from a city and that would determine my medication. I refused the appointment as I don’t feel that one hour consultation with them is sufficient to 0:06 direct my medication going forward. this is only the third family doctor I’ve had in my lifetime. I also suffer with peripheral neuropathy and have to take pregabalin as my feet are in extreme pain. I feel with this doctor that he is more concerned about covering his own butt than he is in helping me. I am 56 and have been reducing my ability myself as I think it is possibly responsible for excessive shopping over last year

Trust your gut or intuition 100%. Doctors want us on antipsychotics like seroquel. I refused saying there is way more metabolic harm and early death using antipsychotics compared to some quality of life on a benzo where you have the rate of taper based on your needs not theirs ❤ My nerve pain was much like yours and went away magically after getting off pregablin. Good on you 👏

I have been on full-time about a year now and was on it as needed for a couple of years while I tried not to take it. @@nitpm8088 true. It is hoped that contextual or situational problems can resolve naturally during that wait time. ✋ that would be a win for the patient. No. Its being compared to paraquat and retonone in scientific literature, this that some autistic people do well its bullshit, brain damage only make things worst, ingesting paraquat leaving them to be aphatetic, unresponsive, sedated unnable to react, that Is at the beggining of "treatment", with time of "treatment" the damages accumulate, "bennefits " leave, just damage and worsening last, that shouldnt be called as bennefiting them. that's a crime that needs to end.

Your channel is not RU-vid algorithm-friendly. Your channel is not SEO-friendly. Haven't done seo properly. Your videos do not have many ranked tags.
